See you dont know me. "elect whomever doesnt want to be elected" is my one and only approach to this sort of vote 90% of the time. I probably want it myself 5% of the time (this time included) and I have some compelling reason to specifically want someone another 5%. But generally? Give it to a person who doesnt want it. That works every single time unless I happen to want the role because then... like... do I twist myself into a pretzel and act demur and tell people i dont want it so theyll vote me anyway? Thats too complex even for me. If I want it - then I'm upfront that I do.

But I apparently was not in the runoff election so I'm not even a choice. and if I'm not a choice, then select the person who wants it the least BECAUSE they will be under heavy scrutiny and I want that job thrust upon them because of said scrutiny. This is something I *also* said in my very first post where I said I wanted it BECAUSE it would give me high scrutiny and I can get the target off my back early (cue: he must be a wolf who seers as a villager. blah blah. blah. Its not the case and you'll just have to trust me, I guess). So no inconsistency at all. Come on man, come with real critiques or dont come at all. And Samac saying shed prefer to lose than have a tie is just perfectly in line with my theory of "elect the unwilling"

If you're gonna criticize me, try to keep up with what I've said.

I’m aware of what you said, and I don’t think it’s impossibly inconsistent for a villager or anything. But my bar for “this feels sus” is lower than “there’s no village explanation for this”, because basically nothing clears that second bar.

apparently today wasn't the best day to be busy around vote close....

I think I'm happy that samac won over MsP though, only because I've misread MsP a lot and at least have some idea what wolf!samac looks like after ggoats

Also sorry I was not around much today. Unexpected things popped up.

Is it, though? Ties can end badly for both the people involved sometimes. I'm not sure that wanting to avoid the potential of 2 deaths is the same as being unwilling to be elected.

JDH would do that (and some other people), but they would also make it extremely clear up front that they wont tolerate any ties and that will be the outcome.

tie for lynch meaning death could *possibly* occur with any mod. But only a few would definitely have it occur. and if it would happen for mayor vote, you essentially cannot assume it is a possibility unless the mod spelled it out.

Speaking of ties and votes in general. I have some worries on how this royals votes not counting thing is going to mess with VCA and yeet votes in general considering how tonight played out.

I assume a means lynch cycle/vote but I wouldnt be surprised at all if there is some more specific meaning that is being expressed and I dont want to misunderstand the info by assuming incorrectly.

It's just new terminology to get away from using lynch. You can also just say vote/unvote/vote cycle

There is sometimes some village strategy in not broadcasting who you're PMing with. Makes it harder for wolves to NK to break up communication networks or control flow of info, or PR hunt.

The only time it can burn you is if you're PMing a wolf, and pass them info that gets you NK'd. As a rule it's good to consider PM partners as part of NKA night kill analysis.

Yeah I kinda hate it tbh. Not just cuz yeet sounds dumb.

Lynch just means mob vigilante justice - execution by mob, typically without trial. It was also used on white women for centuries, it's not just a race crime. It does represent injustice. And it captures what it feels like to be misvoted perfectly imho. I mean, if I'm going to say there's any connection between real life violence and game violence. We haven't gone away from terms like assassin or serial killer either though.

Over-honesty is not necessarily a village thing. Maybe the wolves will want to eliminate a tie breaker, and you're likely to get confirmed town by some villagers, if you are town.

Just trying to decide if you're being helpful or "helpful."

I think ignoring the racial connotation is disingenuous. It doesn't do anybody any harm to use different terminology. And as has been said over and over again, if you don't want to use yeet, you don't have to.

This doesn't need to turn into an SPF debate though. It was agreed upon by many members of the community to make a conscious effort to change terms. And in any case, mods can require whatever terminology they like.

I think it's good for village to know we don't have to fear ties unless we don't trust samac. A lot of players love ties for VCA, but panic over actually ending in tie causes eod confusion and weird vote switching (which wolves could use to disguise their real reasons for last-minute switching)

Mods can, that's fine. I don't think it's disingenuous in the slightest though.

Sometimes I've used the word lynch outside a vote and been chastised for it. I think that level of word policing others goes too far.

I also think it's BS that I've basically observed this practice 99% of the time but somehow I can't express an opinion about it.

I'll have my opinions, thanks. And if I want to talk about WW words I will.

That’s fine. You don’t have to believe I’m village, but rather than people going “oh my god what did she get” I’d rather it be honest and if wolves want to kill me because I can break a tie so be it I guess?
 
I think focusing on the racial aspect of lynch is basically ignoring all the other groups that have been unfairly targeted by lynch mobs, like for sexual orientation, religion, sexual assault victims, gender nonconformity, political associations, etc the list goes on and on.

To act like it's a term that only has racial connotations sorta erases the injustice visited on so many people and groups.

During the War for Independence many Brits and Colonists were tarred and feathered or suffered other types of clear mob violence or death by lynch. So not even completely tangential to this very game.

at this point I would think most wolves would be lying low with one or two trying to endear Themselves to village.

Don't feel you, yourself, have to lay low. Being an active voice can help you learn faster and be able to solve most efficiently.
