I literally wrote out that I have a spreadsheet with my thoughts on every single person but I am not going to make that public. But that I'm concerned that my opinions on day one with absolutely no information are mostly noise and little signal. So there's no way in hell I'm going to broadcast my opinions on anyone else because it just makes me a pawn for wolves to point where they want (on people I'm wrong about) and redirect away from anyone I'm right about. it lets them know which one of the wolves are doing a good job or a bad job. I don't want to give them that information.

And then I further clarified in a different post that I focus intensely on the people who interact with me today because there is no other information I can rely on except for knowing that I'm a villager. so I can focus on that and look at who appears to be criticizing me for valid reasons and who appears to be criticizing me because they're lazy and who appears to be criticizing me to try to knock me out of the game when it's easy - early - rather than when it's much harder later in the game because this whole nonsense generally does end up catching a wolf, two if I'm lucky, when it's used in hindsight a few days into the game.

Even LIS said so. That if I pop villager on death that wolves will be identifiable by who was on board with this stupid lynch of my style rather than my substance.
Okay, so then is there anyone that's gone after you that you're not wolf reading?

Hyperfocus =/= solely focus. This is called "WW" not "DocE". We're hunting werewolves, not simply anyone that namedrops you.

I feel like if I explain this one more time I might actually suffer physical harm from the frustration at people who are criticizing what would be standard of play in any other game that is at, essentially, the very first actionable day. And I have explained why it works this way at length.

And again, don't tell me how to play the game. I say that last sentence with love. But I know exactly what I'm doing. and I know exactly the fire I'm playing with because people get angry at me every single game that I decide to go with this approach. And yet, it finds me wolves or I go down in a blaze of fire and the people who look at how it went down find wolves based on who took the cheap shot at me. The wolf I find may not be day one. It might take me two or three days to find a pattern. But this information is useful for the pattern that I am going to find.

I've been playing WW long enough that I know how I like to do it and what works for me. I'm open to new things sometimes but "this is what other people have been pushing lately" isn't a compelling reason for me to switch up how I play. D1 reads are hardly ever "solid" because no one really has much of anything to go off of.

I've gave thoughts on April previously. I've had thoughts on DocE but I thought it unnecessary to repeat the same crap everyone else is already saying--he acts sketchy but it's also NAI and I'd rather not oust him immediately.

No, there hasn't been a whole lot of wolfy vibes for me in this single day cycle of posting. A lot of these players are new to me. The ones that aren't are largely acting like themselves.

Your post jumped out at me as weird. I asked you about it. You gave a response that--in my opinion--made it worse. So I voted for you.
This is all fair and in no way was I trying to change your play style and what works for you. I was just trying to explain how the expectations for D1 seem to have changed as of late

Okay, so then is there anyone that's gone after you that you're not wolf reading?
There are reasons why I havent brought up you, Dina, or alleycat. it's not like their angels and I think there's no chance they can be wolves. But I'm not doing this as a reaction to every person who comes after me.

Hell I even brought up zenge and then clearly reread the thread and haven't brought him/her back up again.

I've heard your explanations for years. This type of stubbornness is exactly why I won the most recent Lounge game. You need to look outside yourself every once it a while.

Okay, so then is there anyone that's gone after you that you're not wolf reading?

And listen your insistence that my play is bad is baffling to me but I think it comes from an honest place. So we talk and I can't understand you and why you think the way you do, but I believe you truly believe it.

So be it.

Hm. Is there some value in everyone in the city establishing a PM with Samac?

Gives a little bit of a complete communication loop that doesn't leave anyone out to hide. And presumably someone with appropriate abilities will investigate Samac early so we can be relatively confident in her villageryness.

Or is that overly complicated and not useful?
I don't feel good about this. It's okay-ish if you start from the assumption that Samac is village (tbf, I am leaning that way at this point). But establishing one person as a point of contact invites that person to withhold information as they deem useful. There's little downside even as village. You can see how this would be a problem if Samac is a wolf.

Although I don't necessarily agree with all aspects of DocE's analysis and his play style is somewhat abrasive, I think he will be a misyeet and those voting for him should look elsewhere
Who do you think should be voted instead?

They criticize you for relying on the fact that you know you're a villager and basing most of your day one reads on that info? They're objectively wrong for that. This is why prevet is the decelopmental league. and I say that as someone who has created game specifically for here. It's where good game design ideas are made, but not where good strategy is the standard.
Yes I’m criticized for that exactly.
Or do you get chastised for always throwing out all of your opinions of everyone? Don't do that. That's just bad strategy until you actually have enough solid information to have your opinions mean anything.
Nope. I’m the one arguing against this all the time. That pushing people for premature bad reads is bad strategy.

What is your POE looking like at the moment Samac?
I’m terrible at day 1 reads and don’t have a huge POE at this moment but I’m honestly considering April or AM because them leaning me as village this early on wigs me out.

I've been trying to hold my tongue on this because I think my reads on you are heavily influenced by our contrasting play styles, but...

Pay attention to who I'm talking to. I'll mention them when it cohesive and finished.

Why do you have a village lean on Enigma?

Why are you village reading Enigma?

Clearly you either think I'm a wolf, want other people to think I'm a wolf, or are so certain on your read of me (whichever direction that may be) that you're trying to use it to read other people.

Those aren't known mechanics though... unless you know something I don't? I still don't see it as hedgy. She said the discussion about the mechanics was weird, not "maybe it's weird but maybe it's not weird". That's picking a side in my eyes.

So you think talking about mechanics that have the potential to not be helpful (and therefore become a distraction) shouldn't be called out?
The royalty mechanics are literally laid out in the introductory posts. I don't see what's "unknown" about that. The first conversation about it ended with a (slightly jokey but mostly serious) theory about how the PM elections were likely to play out. surprise surprise, that's exactly how they played out. I know you think talking about possibilities in advance is useless, but I'd rather have an idea of what's likely to happen than all stand around with surprised pikachu faces wondering why the election didn't go the way we expected it to, and get hung up on it later

Where in the writeup does it say royalty mechanics includes not knowing each others' identities?
Where in the writeup does it say royaly mechanics includes having protective abilities?

If I'm being perfectly honest, I don't think your play is inherently wolfy for you. But it's not inherently village either. It's certainly not pro-village regardless of your actual affiliation. Maybe it is to your village agenda, if that's what you are, but the village encompasses a majority of the roster, not just you. What it really boils down to is we're all here to play a game for fun and it irks me when someone wants to turn the thread into a boxing match that makes it not fun. Especially when the match involves only a fraction of the roster and distracts from other discussion, which is also anti-village.

I don't really care if your play style is to keep stuff to yourself or to go after people who sus you. I'm not going to criticize people for what works for them. And that's what you're doing to others, though maybe you don't see it that way. I AM going to criticize people for making the game not fun for others just because that's how you like to play the game. It's very apparent that there are some people who aren't finding this enjoyable in the least. It's a leisure game first. Competition second.

And there will be people that disagree with me. That's okay. I'm not going to call them names for it and ruin their enjoyment unless I'm reciprocating what they're saying to me. I would much rather stir up conversation by discussing with people rather than shooting them down.

I kind of agree with you. I’m kind of ok if we lose someone who’s being rude, shooting others down and not doing much else.

Is there a reason this bothers you so much? Now that you're here though, what are your reads?

Where in the writeup does it say royalty mechanics includes not knowing each others' identities?
Where in the writeup does it say royaly mechanics includes having protective abilities?

Royals do not participate in the democratic process.
This means they cannot vote in public elections, nor can they be elected to Parliament.
Of course, it's not all bad to be a stuffy ceremonial relic sucking away tax dollars. Members of the royal family receive some unique benefits as befitting their exalted station in English society.

It bothers me because it feels like you're being intentionally disingenuous. which is exactly what you did when you wolfed in goats. The writeup stated that royals have unique benefits, but it was visc, not me who (very briefly) suggested that the royals could maybe have some kind of protective ability. I don't know if the royalty mechanic includes knowing others identities, there's a reason this sentence ends in a question mark:

def a reasonable concern - how effective it would be would depend if any of the royals know who the others are?
Depending on if they do or don't know each others identities, there are different implications for possible impacts on the game.

My main focus of the royalty discussion has been about how it impacts elections. as clearly stated here.

I know I'm more pro-mechanics talk and that other people don't like it as much, but I don't think it's that odd of a hypothesis to bring up - unless there's a way that royals can pretend vote, we'll know at the end of the day who did or didn't participate. We can't know the ultimate implications of all of it yet, but that's one of the very few things we do know at this point

since i didn't play or follow bioshock i'll take your word for it, but i really don't think we've gone that far down a rabbit hole yet, it was a pretty direct assumption from a clearly officially stated mechanic

hows this for tin foil rabbit hole though: maybe royals can still place votes, but it doesn't count in the actual final tally, so it allows them to blend in and then it'll be a mystery as to whose votes didn't count in the end

okay okay I'll leave this alone now

here’s a little teaser, it’s all based on my England knowledge and popular pop culture and I’m pretty sure whoever did it is village and I think they have a wolfy counterpart in the north. So if they could just like shoot me a hint of who they are I’d appreciate that.
Well that was an accident lol

So you would agree you're discussing things that have not been confirmed at this point, yes? This is fine as long as you also discuss things that have been confirmed (i.e. content posts from players on the thread). Elections are long over and people already have seen the ramifications. Let's talk about current affairs that will catch wolves.

??? you're the one who has been talking about it today. I was planning to leave it alone otherwise

I got out of meetings a little while ago and finished working on my reads post that I had to pause on earlier. I'm a person who likes trying to establish my reads on D1 early, I know that's not everyone's thing - it's easier for me to keep track of how interactions change my view of someone over time when I do it. Going to get caught up now on the posts that happened while I was doing that.

So did Stagg and shorty. You just omitted them for some reason.

Regardless, I asked for your reads. That's what I want to talk about rather than mechanical theories.
yes, but they also aren't going around asking people for their reads on me. the post was about you, and the fact that you're also refusing to offer your own reads while clearly stirring something around me

Cray feels I'm off in every game. She literally has said the tone thing in every game I've played with her other than the first one, and she's said I manufactured shade at people before too. Her not pushing that in Bioshock was one of the things that made me initially wonder if she was wolfing.

I have DocE on ignore at this point and am working on more reads right now.
This tone pings frustrated villager hardcore for me. I think shorty, tone-wise sounds very village this cycle but this post in particular.

Also I'd def like to hear from @SARdoghandler because the minimal posts today after so much enthusiasm yesterday (much like MsP) is also pinging me slightly.
I find this kind of NAI for nearly every player, so while there's nothing wrong with seeking more posts, I'm just also not really sure it's noteworthy?

Regardless of affiliations, I think Cray's sheeping of DocE is the result of friendliness outside of the game. Which isn't my favorite thing, but I'm having a hard time making it AI.
Oh, I'm supposed to be FRIENDLY to my BFFs and not yeet them into oblivion? (@WildZoo)

Exactly.

but also, everyone keeps saying it’s weird of me not to call out doc E for it. So then people are reading us as packmates or what. Because I’m not sure why it’s my job to police his interaction with shorty. And if we were packmates couldn’t I just as easily say something to him on the thread to avoid this scrutiny I’m now getting for not doing so? Like I don’t even understand peoples point within the game about me not fighting with him for fighting with shorty.
Oh my point isn't that you would be wolfing together - notice he isn't currently in my wolf reads. Seems more like you realized it might be a better idea to stay on his good side, do a little bit of buddying. And actually I really hope that's what it is. Because if you're giving him a pass on behavior that you've railed against in previous games, even when it was much more mild, just because he's directing it at someone you've had disagreements with and not at you...gonna be honest, that's pretty disappointing. So I'm hoping there is an ulterior motive.

checking in from the barn real quick, cause I think it would be best to respond to this now instead of leaving it till right before yeet close:
See my latest post. you are a buffoon (from a strategic perspective) if you are not hyper focusing on those who interact with you
I'm not saying ignore those who want to engage in discussion with you, but I would expect you to interact with more than the people opposing you and cray. I honestly held off making a decision on you or voting for you yesterday because I wanted to see you interact with other people and engage in discussions unrelated to your argument with Shorty, but unless I missed a page or something that never happened. I feel like you're still tunnelling on this stuff and I don't think that is at all helpful or pro-village. And I get that this is how you play, but when things get heated right off the bat on D1 it's not enjoyable for the rest of us, or at least not for me.

I literally wrote out that I have a spreadsheet with my thoughts on every single person but I am not going to make that public. Even LIS said so. That if I pop villager on death that wolves will be identifiable by who was on board with this stupid lynch of my style rather than my substance.
I said the same thing in regards to sunny, I'm not asking nor expecting anyone to post a fully fleshed out spreadsheet D1. But even if you don't want to post a list, even a shortened one, I'd hope to see you engaging on the thread with the different discussions going on, and sharing thoughts that way, but your play style is so reclusive I've yet to see it happen.

get out of my head April 🤣

Nope. Just the ones I quoted.

I HAVE LITERALLY ALREADY ADDRESSED THIS. And I hate vet deference. As far as I can see, I didn’t follow him onto a shorty vote so why are you accuse me of going against my own values?

Wtf? I EXPLAINED IT AT THE TIME AS WELL AS RESPONDING TO YOUR SPECIFIC INQUIRY AS SOON AS I SAW IT. unless we start designating times to all be on together talking synchronized, I don’t think you have a right to falsely accuse me of ignoring your question (for which the answer was given at the time). I didn’t want SAR to be the prime minister. I wanted Ms P. I waited until then AND tried to call attention to it but no one was moving. And I preferred Doc E over SAR. Oh and before you accuse me of “supporting” him again, that was A: before the whole shorty thing and B: a vote against SAR, not for him.

Well I remembered the sentiment but couldn’t find the preference and asked the mod and she told me the opposite so now I don’t know what to call that player.

Okay so is this you “supporting” Doc E as you accuse me of? For simply saying I think he’s aggressive, but not necessarily a wolf?
Yeah this post doesn't even remotely make me feel better about you.
@vetmedhead since you missed it the first time
I didn't miss it, I didn't find it a complete or satisfactory explanation
Just curious, have you played with Sun before? I'm pretty sure I haven't played with you before (but my memory is crap) and I'm wondering if you got that impression from playing with her previously or totting games or what.

That thought crossed my mind about Sun too but I'm not giving her wolf points for that specific thing because I know she doesn't typically get along with Shorty.
I have. I haven't played with her and shorty at the same time so was not aware of the ire there

Eh I was busy and on mobile. I have no idea what shorty or doc E are yet, but I would say they are not W/W. They’re both people to keep an eye on for now. I’ve never played with Doc E but he’s being pretty aggressive. Could be genuine statements about shorty, trying to throw fake shade on a villager, or making a big distraction. And Shorty is either an innocent villager getting caught in his crosshairs, or there’s something to it, because she’s not acting normal.

*in before I get called hedgey for being open about my thought process on 2 players I don’t have a read on yet but was asked for.
Exactly.

I'm not reading you as packmates, as previously stated I'm not reading him as wolf at the moment. Based on you saying you also don't think he's a wolf but you do think shorty's acting abnormal, then I take it you're reading that interaction v/w?

Yeah this post doesn't even remotely make me feel better about you.

I’ve said I don’t have any reason to lean either of them village yet, though I Feel slightly better about shorty after she finished her full analysis post. Because that is more like her.

I have said that they aren’t compatible wolves. But villagers fight all the time.

Oh my point isn't that you would be wolfing together - notice he isn't currently in my wolf reads. This was my initial thought as well but was also hoping it wasn't for this reason

@vetmedhead what was incomplete or unsatisfactory about it? And if that’s what you felt, why not say that? Or ask something? Not just pretend I never said anything at all.

maybe this helps you since you didn’t follow. I didn’t get in the middle of Doc E saying he doesn’t like shorty’s play style because I openly don’t either.

Well you know what? When literally every single person on the roster but me does some magic thing to stop him, then you can be disappointed in me. But until then you can keep your little moral judgements to yourself.
