In my opinion if Texas schools discriminate against non Texas residents, I think the rest of the schools in the country should discriminate against Texas residents.

Their barbecue isn't THAT good, Amirite?

(My sister lives in Texas so I hear all freaking day about how much better Texas is than the rest of the country, its pretty funny)

:beat:<----This is how they tenderize the briscuit!

nothing beats KC bbq...NOTHING!

I've been to Texas before. It's all right. The weather sucks though...

Lol, how is this fair? I'm sure many of the Texas residents/applicants don't necessarily agree with the policy set by the schools.

Plus, if what I hear is true, a dentist's salary in Texas is higher than it would be in some other states....

their bbq might be good but........GEORGE BUSH IS FROM TEXAS!!!!!!!

Of course we agree with them, because paying taxes here is finally of benefit to us. The state heavily funds med/dent schools, so they have the initiative to ensure that their investments remain in the state.

Applying to all 3 of the texas schools cost me a total of $95 for TMDSAS application, along with a secondary app, and my 4 years of dental school should cost me much less than 1 year at UoP.

and TX BBQ >>>>> the rest, hands down.

Do we look like we care?

ZING! :slap:lol. But in all seriousness this adds more to my argument of elitism that is texas.

So jealous. I feel like my application costs are going to be more expensive than a year at Texas schools.

I might be jealous if I had any desire to live in Texas.

I figure I could live there for 4 years to save a couple hundred thousand, but I didn't apply there. Oh well. California sounds funner anyway. 😉

Texas might be an ok place to live if there weren't so many Texans there.

KC bbq is amazing! 😀

Sorry you didn't get resident status dude, but your "argument" is pretty pointless.

Many other state-funded schools heavily favor in-state applicants, for the reasons stated by slm266. Colorado, for instance, takes a very low percentage of out of state applicants. It is possible to get into Texas schools if you don't have residency; at least two people in my class that I know of have out of state residency.

I'm not sure if this thread is supposed to be a joke, but if not then I don't know what your point is.

Oh okay. Not trying to imply it's bad if you do agree (and conversely bad if you don't agree), just saying 😛 I can see where you're coming from.

Texans are the worst drivers. Stay out of Colorado prease and sank you!!! And to whoever said the people are also bigger ...:laugh::laugh:

Ok Nocal. Or is it Norcal. Or should you be shortening your geographic location at all... b/c I've heard that those from Socal think saying Norcal (or I guess Nocal) is northern californians trying to be as cool as southern californians.

Chill...no need to get hella touchy. 😉

So Alan...

This random predent goes to his first dental school interview, and the adcom looks at him and says: "I see here that you're from California. Do you think you're superior to everyone else?" The predent answers "Oh no! Thank goodness. California's just where I live right now. But I was born in Texas, so I KNOW I'm superior to everyone else."

It's alright, I know you're not really mad at us, but at your parents for raising you in a mediocre state. 😛

Texas country drivers are nice and courteous, but larger cities draw in californians who can't drive, making us look bad.

lol californians drive better than texans. trust me, i've seen the difference. texans have a knack of cutting off people at the most narrow parts of roads. missourians are a close second.

Having lived in San Francisco the last 3 years, every time I step into a Dallas intersection as a pedestrian I feel like I'm risking my life. I've walked into clearly marked intersections and had cars not only not stop, but honk and yell at me and swerve around me.

I used to live in Dallas...it really is a sweet place to live for sure.

It's not hard to drive in bumper to bumper traffic.

Hey, you didn't finish the story!

The interviewer than says "You're from Texas!! We need more of that Texan attitude here at our school. I'll just go ahead and tell you right now, you're in!!!

I think people from the New York are the worst drivers. People in Houston and Austin are nice. They will let you switch lanes and let you pass them while giving you a nice smile.

Someone was tailgating me on the interstate in one of those random torrential downpours that Colorado gets and when they finally passed me (keep in mind I was in the right lane so I'm not sure why the hell they felt the need to ride my a** for so long...) I was not even the slightest bit surprised when I saw the license plate. Texas. :meanie:

Massachusetts drivers--and Boston ones specifically--are the worst drivers imo.

Midwestern drivers are great--so nice! Just like the people. I'm sure Texans are similar. Except maybe if your license plate indicates a different state... Hahaha

Something tells me you were driving like a grandma... lol

Im a student in MA, and from knowing some things about TX..... Great schools some of the best.

Its funny you would say that because my mom believes that Texas is a land of oppurtunity. I live in Atlanta and she is always talking to me about settling in Texas (where I was born) now I hate the place with a passion because of how much she talks about it. Here favorite line is "No state Income Tax" which is quite appealing...🙄

Um, well when you can barely see 10 feet in front of your car because it's raining so hard I think it is justifiable to drive like a grandma haha 😉 Point is, that Texan had no business being all up on my bumper when I was in the right lane. Woop!
