I took the August MCAT. I was on MCAT HOLD at EVMS and have not heard anything.

I just wondering if anyone else that was on MCAT HOLD has heard anything from EVMS-- whether a rejection or interview invite.

I'm thinking about sending them a letter of interest... but then, I don't know if a rejection is coming for me as we speak..

EDIT: I was on MCAT HOLD because i got a 27 in April. In August, I also got a 27, but scores in all three sections are different. Combined score is a 29. If you look at both the April and August MCATs, I have a 9V, 10P, and 10B.

thats exactly what happened to me, got a 27 in april (10b, 10p, 7v R) and a 26 august (9b, 8p, 9v S) but was offered an interview. i have a 3.5, 3.45 sci gpa too. weird...how are your extracurriculars?

everything else about me is very strong, from LORs to extracurriculars.

are u a va resident? and when did u hear from them? when did u complete and when did u get your ON HOLD, if u dont mind me asking........

I'm confused, actually. I thought MCAT HOLD was not because of the scores themselves, but just because we took the August MCAT and they're waiting for new scores before making a decision.

nope, i called them about this.

mcat hold could mean you need a mcat score, or they would like to see a higher mcat score.

The following was what I got before the August scores came out. Is it the same as yours?

In a separate email, you were invited to complete our supplemental application for the Entering Class of 2006 at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. Please be advised that your application will be placed on hold until your August 2005 Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) score is received.

Your application will be reviewed for interview status once your file is complete.

nope, i got a different one.

it said that my app had already been reviewed and that unfortunately, they were not able to interview me at this point. they said they wanted to see my august mcat before making a final decision..

i had actually taken the mcat 3 times.... first score was ridiculously poor. second score was a 27.... but i think they like to see >=8 on each section from multiple testings... so that overall, in each section, u have 8 or above

Oh, okay, sorry. It seems like something different entirely, no? I hadn't heard of an MCAT hold before, except when they wait for scores.

its okay, no worries! the mcat hold is actually used at a lot of schools. i took the april mcat 05 and i had to retake in august 05. i got put on hold at a lot of schools besides evms....

i completed my secondary in august before the school year started up. everything else you asked me is in the reply to the PM you sent me 🙂 .
i wasn't put on hold, i was given an interview a few weeks after being deferred from the EDP pool.

29 is good enough to get an interview at EVMS if you're got everything else in order.

yeah but unfortunately, they dont combine mcat scores......... i have a 29 combined... but i got 27 twice.

I got that same e-mail from EVMS before the Aug. MCAT scores were published. I ONLY took the Aug. MCAT though but was offered supplemental prior to the scores coming out. However, haven't heard from them either.

yeah i just called evms today. they screen primarily based on letters of rec and gpa.... also, they havent looked at the august mcaters yet... they said it'll be AT LEAST one more week of wait...

i'll answer that question kozmo kramer....

i sent in the secondary app in late august.. i heard from them on sept 12 of MCAT HOLD... though i took the april mcat....

haven't heard from them since, but they said it'll be at least one more week before they look at the aug mcaters....

i DID get a complete notify on a mini postcard through snail mail.... but i actually got anxious and called them before i got the postcard... just call them, its quicker and they actually can tell you if your file has been reviewed...
