I called a few minutes ago, and they told me that there were 350 people on the waitlist. 55 people in the class will come from the waitlist, but still that number seems huge...

Do you mean that 55 people will come from the waitlist before withdrawls occur? How would they know exactly how many people will come from the waitlist?

Good question.

They can't accurately predict, at this point, how many in their class will come from the waitlist.

People decline their acceptances for many reasons...they also can't tell how many people on the waitlist will not take the spot when offered. I know of at least one person (female, IS) who will decline an acceptance, if offered. I'm sure there are others.

Don't lose hope yet. EVMS' waitlist also moves more for IS than OOS.

I am trying to make a decision right now between EVMS and Jefferson Medical College, so another OOS female spot may open up soon.

Are all of you in state? Why do you love EVMS? I'm going back and forth trying to decide, they're both amazing... gah. But I'll try to decide soon so someone gets off the WL at one of them.

When I called they said half the class came from the waitlist. I am really sorry for the confusion that that caused. Since there are 110 students, I figured 55. So in total, they usually take about 55 from the waitlist. However, this year seems to be totally whack on the numbers, so only time will tell...

I suspect they take a lot more than 55 from the waitlist. Many of the people at the top of the waitlist have other acceptances.

Why would the waitlist move more for IS? This does not make sense to me... but i hope it is true. Not that it matters much for me at the bottom 1/3 of the in-state list

Not that it matters much for me at the bottom 1/3 of the in-state list (I had a horrible interview... my interviewer accused me of being a communist because I went to Berkeley and it went downhill from there).

:scared: That's crazy. They were just trying to frazzle you. They do that. It's their thing...see how you react under pressure...

Anyways, EVMS is well known in Virginia as being the 3rd choice med school. Lots and lots of IS students apply there as a backup, but wind up getting into MCV, UVA, or both...then they drop their EVMS acceptance in favor of one of the other two. Thus, the IS waitlist moves a LOT...usually. It has in the past, at least.

Those in-state ladies better get on it and drop that acceptance then! Cmon ladies let's get going! UVA and MCV are calling! The sooner the better!
