Hello,

I am looking to find existing measures about a specific topic (graduate school expectations). Is there a data base that can help with this. I looked and think psycTESTs is one but it costs money. Can anyone help?

Hello,

Have you tried asking on any of the APA listserves? They're a really great source of finding and getting measures.

I would start with a literature search in a psychology database (such a psychINFO). You'll need to access such a database through an academic library. Are you currently an undergrad student somewhere? If you are, you should be able to get help in how to do so (assuming you need it) from a reference librarian. Most schools give students some type of online access, which will include access to many full-articles.

Start with "graduate students expectations" as your search terms, and look for articles investigating things similar to what you are looking for, and then see what they used for measures.

If you don't have access to an academic library as a student, you can often use libraries at colleges or universities as a member of the public.

Thank you! Yes, I just started graduate school and did some searching on various databases but am struggling to locate exactly what I am looking for. I will keep searching...

It may be a bit difficult because "expectation" is such a broad term (financial expectation, life satisfaction, stress expectancy, etc.). Depending on what you are looking at, it may be possible to find measures of the type of expectation you are looking for then explore how that performs within graduate students.

couldn't agree more... and although it indeed might be a bit difficult - I still think that it is worth for her to try.

just do't make mistakes as I know of people who resort to drugs such as amphetamine to achieve their goals...
