My first acceptance - got into Emory for Epi!

Just found out today via OPUS... Application received January 11 and complete January 13, so only about 9 days turn around!

Stats:

First tier liberal arts college
French Studies major, 3.57 GPA
GRE: 800Q, 600V, 4.5A
1+ year of hospital volunteering
6+ months of volunteering with Dept. of Emergency Response, including writing state and national plans, and work on H1N1 preparations.

Acceptances: Emory, no word on funding.
Denials: None so far.
Still waiting on: Pitt, Yale, New York Medical College, Washington University in St. Louis, SUNY Albany

If you don't mind, could you state which programs you applied to, when your apps where turned in, and when and how you heard from the schools?

Sorry if that's a lot, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's curious to to know. ^^;;

On their financial aid website it said financial aid packages would be available after April 1.

Yes, I talked to Emory's financial aid department and they said April 1st is the earliest they'll announce funding. Scholarships will be announced in March.

Michigan--On the decision page, there's a "respond now" option. When you click on that, the deadline date is listed. I asked them about the 3/1 deadline. They said that the 3/1 deadline there was to encourage people to marticulate earlier; the actual deadline is April 15.

I am a international student so I am mainly concerned about merit scholarships..so when you say April 1st ..are you referring to FAFSA(Since I am a international student , FAFSA is not for me) or to FAFSA and merit scholarships both.
Till now , I had the notion that merit scholarships are handed out at the time of admission decisions. Am I correct ?

both scholarship deadlines are i think on the same day, to find out, go to www.fafsa.org or google fafsa deadlines..u shud be able to find everythign there!

Tulane does not send an application complete email. You can call to check the status...the #is in the FAQ section of the admissions page. My app has been complete with them since 12/8 and I still haven't heard back. Don't know what dept you applied to but they didn't even start looking at most apps for community health until after the new year.

Hello and congratulations to everyone who's received an offer!

I was beginning to get worried, not having heard from any of my choices. Now I'm very relieved and happy because I received a "congratulations" email from Yale!! I sent my application back in November.

Surprised by a Yale acceptance today! Didn't get into my first choice of Global Health, instead got put into Social and Behavioral. Contacted through a deceivingly thin snail mail letter that made me think it was a rejection before opening it.

I applied to the Community Health Sciences Department. I never received a email or anything about my application. I called to inquire about it and they told me over the phone I was accepted. Still waiting on my acceptance package though....

Starting to feel like my applications are in a little late in the game and that my stats aren't quite as high as they should be but I guess we'll see in the coming month or so if I get in anywhere. If it comes down to Emory or Tulane I have no idea where I'll go. Not really banking on getting into UNC but it would be nice.

GWU - 12/4 Emily (the adcom) told me she would forward my application for review the following Monday (so like 12/6?)

Yale - 12/8 a revised SOPHAS was sent to yale and I'm assuming my GRE scores were available then as well.
