Why would you need a backup? You're stats are above average for almost all schools.

Has anyone heard anything from George Washington yet? They got my full application about 3 weeks ago. I know it's still very early but I wasn't expecting to hear from Minnesota before them! haha.

Agreed, was actually shocked to hear from Minnesota so early
As for GW, they sent me an email a few weeks ago saying my application was complete but I wouldn't hear back for 6-8 weeks... Fun

@Let'sGoO's I also wasn't sure if GWU means that they'll give us a decision on whether we get an interview by the end of the 6-8 weeks or if that means the whole process will be finished within 6-8 weeks.

@werunthis That quant score is definitely low and isn't doing you any favors... I won't say you're completely ruled out if you can provide examples where you've been very successful in prior quant areas(ie research/biostats/etc) because they do review applications holistically... If I were dead set on Columbia/JHU and I were you, I'd probably retake... but that's just one opinion based purely on observation!

@miniMarathoner52 I'm assuming that's for an interview decision, it's still really early, some of the places I applied said they really won't even look at apps until mid-November

@Toss235 ; Could depend on the quality of the classes you took. When I met with Hopkins they said they don't just look at GPA but also how strenuous your workload was; i.e. were you involved outside of class and were you taking challenging courses with a heavy credit load.

Due to the way Sophas vs my undergrad school round, my gpa when from a 3.0 to a 2.99. Since this is now below the minimum for many school, any advice on decent schools with no mi minimum gpa?

If 3.0 is the cut off, then I would not use SOPHAS to apply. Most schools allow you to apply directly to the university. Just a thought to getting around this requirement...

I'm pretty unsure about this whole process because I am still in my senior year and therefore have zero full-time work experience, which I know is pretty valuable in MHA/MPH programs. So if anyone else is also applying straight from undergrad, or has any thoughts on this, it would be great to hear!

It depends on the program, but both schools I interviewed at so far have talked about valuing diversity in terms of the professional background of their applicants and will always take some students straight from undergraduate to add to the mix (including Hopkins), I think if you have solid stats and good reasoning as to why you want to go straight into your master's program you'll be fine.

Also I think you're going to find you have an easier time than you think getting into those schools you listed, your stats are about the same as mine and I've already gotten interviews at all 4 top ten programs I applied to. Wouldn't bother with backup schools tbh, it's just a lot of money lost on applications.

Don't recall. Is this on HAMPCAS or their secondary? If it's the secondary I never actually filled it out, it's only necessary if you get accepted

It's fairly straightforward, if you go to their website and look through it they'll tell you some of the stuff you should know/prepare for in your interview.

Also for interview prep I would just google how to prepare for a medical school interview, most of those questions can be converted to an MHA type question and it's a fairly similar process

Anyone have insight on specifics of the Minnesota interview/how long it takes for Hopkins to change one's status from "being sent for review"?
My app for JHU was sent for review on Oct 25, and I was emailed for an interview on Nov 8, if that helps! On a similar note, how long did it take for you to receive an interview for Minnesota after they sent your app for review?

Anyone else get an acceptance to GWU with no interview? I found that kind of odd...especially since they were pretty adamant about it at the Open House. Oh well! haha

I'm leaning pretty heavily towards Hopkins though... thoughts?

Lol I also got the acceptance email. Haven't really looked at their program that much tbh just applied because of location. But I'm definitely picking Hopkins over it unless I get some kind of solid scholarship offer
