Final Word from Mount Sinai?

I had the same questions, sent my transcripts in anyway. Also, I thought I read someone say that they have a $100 deposit, but I am pretty sure my letter did not mention this at all and just asked for a signed letter to be returned?

However, I did get a nice call from one of the mssm students last night congratulating me on my acceptance, I am pretty excited because the school really seems like a great place
 
i got a similar call yesterday but couldnt really talk because i was at work. nice gesture though.

my letter also said that the acceptance form was "executed in lieu of an acceptance deposit", so i didn't think we had to send in any deposit.
 
I haven't gotten tox screened yet, mostly because the closest center is 15 miles away and I don't have a car. I figure I'll get it done when I visit my parents in NY on a weekend or whatever. Haven't sent the transcript, but will do so soon.
 
Hey, so I've been stalking this thread for a while, but I'd like to post my situation to see if anyone out there is in the same boat or if someone here has some insight to my situation. I interviewed on 11/8 and have not received any snail mail yet. Although I live in California, I think I should have gotten it by now... Also, I did not get the dean's update email others have received. I have called multiple times, but they have always told me a decision has not been made yet.
So this has lead to me think of two scenarios. Firstly, I have not had a decision made yet (although others on my interview day have) or somehow one interviewer was unavailable so I was pushed back to the next adcom meeting. But if this is the case, since someone has recently received an acceptance email, did I not get an acceptance from the second adcom meeting, and can expect a wait list letter later? Or secondly... I have been straight up rejected and I can expect that letter at some inappropriate time like Christmas eve.

Keep in mind that this is conjecture:

I think you did not make the first round of decisions (probably because one of your interviewers hadn't submitted his/her evaluation). You mention that someone recently received an email. If you're referring to the person from this thread, they received the same email as everyone else from the same round of decisions. They said it was dated on Nov. 19th.

I interviewed fairly soon after you and think that I am probably in the same round. We should probably hear something this month. Good luck!
 
Just wondering if anyone knew when the next round of acceptances are going out?? December? January?

Thanks for the response and luck, LEdaddy. The email I was referring to was the cruel Dean's update that some people on the waitlist had received. Since I didn't get that email, I am hoping that I'm not on the waitlist at all. I'm very excited about still being considered by MSSM, and according to LovelyMD, we only need to wait another week or so. I called the admissions office yesterday and they said there is an adcom meeting today and next Tuesday. Don't know if everyone has to wait until after both meetings or maybe some lucky few will hear before that... But one way or the other, I'm sure we'll find out soon. Hope its good news for everyone!
 
For those that were accepted...

Did you send your transcripts already? The letter says to send all transcripts immediately, but I still have 2 weeks before my fall grades are posted and then a whole semester left. I'm not quite sure if we are just to send it immediately after all grades are in, or immediately as in right now.

I called the office for something else but they seem pretty friendly. that's why I suggested you call.

if you just made that up, that's cruel...but would also be kind of funny (in a cruel way).
 
Just got the e-mail from Mount Sinai! I'm in! Interviewed 11/27!!
 
mount sinai is sending out acceptance e-mails now! just got mine, interviewed mid-november.
 
wow totally mis-read that and thought it was interview invites going out.
*feeling stupid and sad.... 🙁
 
Bummer, alternate list. It was fast though, I interviewed on 12/05.
 
Alternate as well. One of my top choice schools. Too bad.
 
accepted! doesnt make any sense......my interviews were terrible. this process is so random.
 
did you get an email if you were on the alternate list? or did you call in and find out?
 
just so people don't think prettymonkey is crazy, last round they gave out alternate list by snail mail only, no email. perhaps since some people were having problems with their mail and calling them up to ask for their status despite a disposition letter having been sent, they decided to be safe and email waitlists in addition to acceptances from now on 🙂

i wouldnt say that i am not crazy but i did get a snail mail alternate letter and no email. even if you did get an email you will still get a snail mail. you need to sign the letter saying that you want to be placed on the alternate list and send it back.
 
Checked my email for today and was accepted! First one! Congrats to everyone else who's in and good luck to all of you alternates.
 
to all those accepted at sinai - first congrats! - second, did you do anything post-interview (other than a thank-you card) with sinai? for example, did you send them any letters, emails, etc??? thanks!
 
all I did was send thank you cards to each of my interviewers.
 
Same. I sent thank you cards to interviewers only.
 
I interviewed 11/19 and haven't gotten anything yet. They said when I interviewed I should hear back before the new year and I thought I would get something on 12/20. I called them and they said my app was still under review. anyone in the same boat? is this good news or bad?

You'll probably be in the next round of decisions. In January?
 
okay i seriously think my application was lost. sorry, i don't mean to hijack the thread, but i'm just so upset because sinai is my #1 choice, and i've been complete since late july. ARGH >< i've been told i'm a competitive applicant numbers-wise and have tons of ECs and strong LORs. come on sinaiiiiiiiiiiii
 
Maybe you could try calling them during their designated status check hours. The information can be found in the 2008 status check thread.
 
For those of you who've sent back the confirmation form in the acceptance packet, did they notify you that they've received it?

Haha, thanks for the advice friend, but I've been alllll over that. I call at least once a month, and I've called twice in December. Every single time the receptionist lady says "you're under review" and that's all she knows. It is getting to be so frustrating, because an ADCOM totally could have misplaced/lost my application and nobody would ever know. I know I shouldn't let this get to me (randomness of the process, etc etc) but it's still really putting a damper on my holidays 🙁

yes, they sent me a snail mail letter a few weeks later.
 
for the more recent interviewees, does anyone know when they said the adcom is going to meet? i remember they told us to expect decisions around 3rd week of january, but i have some stuff i want to send in before they decide on me. thanks!
