Well, I'll always bleed orange and blue. I'm not sure how it is at other schools, but something about being an undergrad at UF just gets inside you; anyone who's been to the Swamp for an LSU or FSU game knows the feeling. This has been the hardest part; just trying to let go. UF was my first interview and it was everything I expected. But a month later, UM blew (<-- Is that a word?) me away. I really get the feeling like it's a once in a lifetime experience. Miami's not some place I'd like to live, but it would be awesome to live and train there for a few years; I mean, I've already got a beach house lined up there (There's no beach-front property in Gainesville). Jackson Hospital is one of the 3 busiest hospital systems in the country, and UM students are there in some capacity from day 1. Both schools are first rate even though some of the recent things at UF are disconcerting. It's a no lose situation but still, probably the toughest choice I've had to make. I could go the familiar/comfortable route and pick UF, or I could pick something new and try Miami. Whatever happens, I know I'm going to second-guess myself. I'm going to attend the second look this weekend and think it over a little more. I know a few other people on this thread are in the same situation, maybe even some of the current med students who post. The pro's and con's of each school have been discussed ad nauseam, but I'd like to hear what the tipping point has been for others. Sorry for the long-winded post, but I think I'm leaning towards UM.
