I was a little torn at first, due to some family issues, but I loved USF and liked FSU...so I'm 99.9% sure I'll be going to USF in the fall, unless something drastic changes between now and April.
Well good luck with your decision.

To 1-accept away,
If he said June then you are either at the bottom of top tier or the top of middle tier waitlist positions.
Does anyone know if U miami sends out pre-interview rejections? I have been complete for several months and haven't heard a word
You are not necessarily bottom 1st tier or top 2nd tier...
When I got the call, I was told 'top of top tier' and he is saying mid-summer/ late june....so he might be telling everyone this same time frame...or using this as the starting point of the time frame (in order to not under guess the time frame when you may be accepted). Also, the January MCAT might be allowing them to interview later? G'luck to everyone else waiting for a call!

[email protected]anyone know the email addy for miami or dr hinkly?
Also if you read carefully, you'd see the other person said mid summer/late June. That's not defined as Mid May.
Mid May is the beginning of the summer season. When they said late June, I figured they could have meant like the very end of June coming towards July. And when they said mi summer I was assuming June to July not May because May is beginning of summer.
That said, the poster who I was responding to talked to me in PM and I won't say anything here because they requested. Just know they clarified more since that intial post. But the above paragraph explains what I was assuming they meant by mid summer and late june.
Agnes is awesome. Such a nice person! Dr. Hinkley is great too. How many schools do you have med students hanging out in the admissions office talking to Hinkley and company?[email protected]
is where I was sending emails and getting replies from. Good luck to you! I know Hinkley is really busy right now, but I'm just if it's important he or Agnes will get back to you 🙂
On Wednesday, I hung out in the admissions office and was asked if I was a "student ambassador"....haha..NO...we are there for the donuts!!...kidding, we all love talking to interviewees and telling you guys about the school, and Dr. H is THE MAN!..he's so funny. I'm pretty positiive that more students would stop by or have lunch with the interviewees if it were advertised to us...we are actually there on our own will, no-one emails us to tell us the interview dates or anything, we just stop in to see if there are interviews that day.Agnes is awesome. Stop it...I'm drooling 🙁On Wednesday, I hung out in the admissions office and was asked if I was a "student ambassador"....haha..NO...we are there for the donuts!!...kidding, we all love talking to interviewees and telling you guys about the school, and Dr. H is THE MAN!..he's so funny. I do love UMiami, and the comraderie here is probably unparalleled. Groups of people are always doing something and always inviting everyone-so there is plenty of opportunity to hang out away from school. Also, I feel like our student population is a really diverse group and everyone is extremely accepting of you...I'm young and married and obviously in the minority, but I feel that everyone in the class is very accepting, always asking about my husband and how he's doing, etc...and I still party with everyone else and feel like I "fit-in," we also have young, single mothers who everyone is accepting of (we had a "Kids and Cocktails" party for one little girl's birthday), and we have people in same-sex relationships who bring their partners out and everyone is extremely accepting of them. Anyways, I love the students at UMiami probably the most...I didn't mean to "stereotype" people above, I just wanted to emphasize my point on everyone being extremely accepting of different backgrounds. 🙂
Sweet. If I get an acceptance you should call me on conference with Dr. Hinkley !! 🙂DrZeke, if I worked in the admissions office, I'd probably hand-give you your admission cuz I'd be so excited FOR you! haha.
are they call email or snail???thanks
I called them and someone told me that the committee reviewed my application and put me on "hold." But I would like to know if people actually have been getting rejections lately or they just wait until april or so to send them.

Hmm...I was at the admissions office the other day and I could tell that they are still scheduling interviews, but who knows how they are doing it. Maybe one of the current miami students could offer some insight...I sent an email to that address, and was told my application was still with the committee. Any hope for an interview?
DrZeke, I've been skipping school these days...some of our lecturers currently are either slow, so I watch them with enounce online at 2ce the speed (and save LOTS of time doing that), or some of them basically give us all the info we need on their handouts, which they then "read to us" during the lecture, so if I skip the lecture and read it myself, I save time and a painfully boring lecture in doing so. You quickly learn your best method of studying and around exams, sometimes it's more efficient to skip school to study than it is to actually go. I'm here today and tomorrow...probably some days next week as well though!Hmm...I was at the admissions office the other day and I could tell that they are still scheduling interviews, but who knows how they are doing it. McMD, I keep expecting to run into you on campus.
I'm there tomorrow too...hmmm...P-A-R-T-Y?! Because I gotta!!!! Did you end up finding out about USF or UF???
UF Acceptance 😍
I'm done!!! (for the next 6 months...)
How did you find out?
Which one? I park under the gym. Trying to lose a few thousand lbs.I feel like that was from "Night of the Roxbury"...maybe not (your quote). Tomorrow, you can find me in the parking garage, next to my broken down pathetic car because it broke on me today and is now stranded in the garage. 🙁 I think the battery is dead-someone from class is changing it tomorrow. See the comraderie from our class??...haha.
If you look back a few pages, I believe that GujuDoc addressed some of these concerns. In summary, even if you interview the last day at USF, you are still interviewing for an outright (no waitlist) seat in the class. This has happened to people who interviewed last year, so no worries.I have read many of the posts regarding interviews and waitlists... However I am curious about the interview/acceptance rate for USF. I have an interview on March 19, and I am assuming that must be one of the last interview Mondays. 🙁

Also, I believe their acceptance rate is AT LEAST 50% (I remember hearing 60%) once you get an interview. This includes people taken from the waitlist too.
Good luck at your interview. Just prepare and have a good time 🙂
When I interviewed at Miami, my car also broke down in the garage. While I was waiting for AAA to arrive, I started walking around the campus to see what was in the area. Since I was in a suit, several patients (or their family members) stopped me to ask for directions to various clinics. Naturally, they were all Hispanic and spoke no English. I don't speak Spanish and couldn't communicate to them that I didn't know where each building is located. Eventually I would point into the distance and the patient would happily begin walking in that direction. I then ran away back to my car to await the mechanic's arrival.
Was this your first interview? (sorry, haven't kept track of everyone)....if so, it's completely normal to be nervous on your first and them calm down more for your 2nd (ie. USF on Monday)....so don't fret. I was strangely nervous for FSU's interview (my first, and also my alma mater)-and then strangely laidback (probably TOO laidback) for subsequent interviews...but I think the adcoms completely understand your anxiety-so don't worry...plus Tallahassee and FSUCOM in particular is full of laid-back, down to earth "folks" who see past all of that. 🙂 I heart FSU. :😍:Just got back from my first interview, at FSU. I love the school and program, and here to have it as a option for 2007. I was really nervous during the interviews, but hopefully the interviewer understood. The other interviewees seemed nice as well as the 1st and 2nd year med students we spoke to.
I'm hoping to be more relaxed and confident at the USF interview on Monday to allow me to open up more and get across my passion for medicine.
Good luck to everyone this season!
Deuist...I'm pretty stoked that you'll be in Miami next year, perhaps I'll meet you, you're kinda famous. 🙂Was this your first interview? Is that true? I have an interview Monday at USF and am extremely nervous. I would love to go there. The percentages seem really high, but I would love it if it were true. Can anyone back this up?
