Are you getting sick of this waiting game?

I've been complete at schools ever since the August MCAT scores came out (my AMCAS was verified the beginning of July, and I submitted secondaries upon receipt).

I've heard back from one school, which btw has over 10,000 applications this year -- far more than any of the others I've applied to.

I'm not asking you to tell me what this means...why I haven't heard back from 7 schools...

geez, this is worse than waiting for the MCAT scores to come out!

A very impatient,
Angel

Trust me..you are not alone. At work, I mainly work on a Sun workstation, but on my left hand side I have a laptop. I feel embarrassed and guilty sometimes when I notice how often I check my email. It has been become an annoying obsession. I am trying to do better though by keeping the laptop off.

Best wishes..

You know, checking email constantly was never a habit of mine until SDN.

Weird thing is, I'm not even in the application cycle. Weeeiird. :scared:

LOL @ Med-tallica.

I was really psycho about checking the email and snail mail boxes a month ago. It almost seemed as if the schools had gotten together to provide the perfect Skinnerian stimulus -- nothing regular, but just a message here and there to keep my hopes up. Lately, though, after week after week of not seeing anything, I've gotten over it.

I've think we've all been spoiled by getting secondaries really quickly. Now we just have to wait and the waiting is so painful. February 1st can't come soon enough!

Hmm, I hadn't checked in a few hours, but I think I will now, just in case....
Do you not have a gmail notifier, or an RSS feed for your mail, or reasonable facsimile? Or is it just cathartic to manually check? I totally understand if it's the catharsis you seek.
I just leave my email program open all the time and wait for the little notification to show up in the dock. Frankly, I'm tired of getting my hopes up when I see that mail.app has new mail - only to find out that my penis could be 4 inches longer. I swear if I bought into all of those email my penis would be about 8 feet long by now.

I do, and sometimes I leave my email open. Last night I hadn't. 😛 I know what you mean about the spam....I'm thinking, geezus, as if Freud hadn't given me enough of a complex, now cialis and viagra have to jump on the banddwagon too!!!

Are you talking about GW?

I know the waiting can make a person go crazy. Last year, I used to go nuts if the mail was late by more than a half-hour from its usual drop off time. I also kept Outlook open at all times and would be competely on edge in anticipation of the arrival of a new message.

However, this year I've found I really don't care. If a reply is going to come, it'll come. There's nothing I can do about it. Besides, I really don't need another ulcer right now. 😀

HAHAHA! Me too... and I'm a woman! They are also trying to help though, by offering me many, many meds to take away the pain of my recently aquired e-mail obsession. At very low prices, of course.

Meee too! I've recently started thinking about how if I do get any good news via email, it's gonna feel a little dirty for it to be sitting amongst all the "tired of being the little guy in the club?" type subject lines.

That's exactly where I am right now.

This waiting game has distorted my perceptions of time and reality. Is that a sign of going "crazy"?

My life, my golden year of being 21 is wasting away...
I took the august mcat (21st B-day in June---Studied on my B-day)!
My life has been consumed by checking the email minute-to-minute (seriously)
it's been nice b/c I have only heard back from 3 schools so far, and I thankfully got 3 interviews...but I want more...it's sick!
something's wrong w/me I think
and SDN does not help! don't pay attention to those people with 39+ mcat scores and they have no interviews...it's bull****...I'm an "average" applicant, with a lot lower score of a 39 and I have 3 interviews (august mcat too w/application not being complete at all my schools until early DECEMBER!!!!
SDN is the root of all evil
I think I check this thing more than my email 😡 😍 :scared: 😡
^these are my emotions!
SDN is **#^* with my emotions

also, statistics show that the more often one checks his/her email/mail, the less likely one is to be accepted to med school.its a fact! a wise man drunk and sleeping in an ally on the street once told me so.

It's not all bull****. I've got a 36 and I've got no interviews. All I've heard from schools is that I've been rejected from one place. Peep it for yourself. I'm happy for you but come on, man, have a heart: we all aren't as lucky as you.
Don't make me smack you up with my 8 foot schlong.

Checking our emails is the only thing free in this process, let's abuse it!!
