Hi I'm a vet graduted outside US and planning to get my license here. I would like to know if anyone knows the difference between taking the PAVE and the ECFVG, other than the fact that PAVE is not accepted in all 50 states. I've been browsing a lot trying to find this answer , since that for the California license I may have either one. I'd really appreciate any help.

Hi
i am vet from india, can i sit for BCSE AND NAVLE EXAMINATION in india just like we sit tofel or ielts

yes you can take it in india or even in other countries. just go to prometric site and you would find detail information.

as far as I know that is the only diffrence. You should go with the ECFVG...

Hi!
Yeah its very nice to meet a Brazilian here!🙂
I haven't taken the BSCE yet, I want to prepare myself very well before taking the test...
Im still studying all those books, but I don't feel ready yet...
Do you know if we can take the BCSE prometric test here in Brazil?
I saw on their website that Porto Alegre and Curitiba have it, but I'm not sure if we can take the ECFVG tests there...

Hi I am a vet from Brazil as well, currently living in the US, planning to take the ecfvg . I'd like to get in contact via email or msn, if possible, to have more informations about the whole process, since I believe you might be better informed than me. Thanks a lot.

Has anyone got a fairly recent CPE manual? My CPE application request has gone missing in the post, and now I have to wait for at least another 4 weeks before I receive the manual. I was hoping somebody would be willing to e-mail me one of the pages, or list a view subjects on this forum so I can start studying.
I have another question for DVM Jakish and other vets who are already living in the USA. How long does it take for a vet to get a green card?
I checked the Visa Bulletin and there is a list of employment based preferences. Does anyone know in which category the veterinary profession falls; 'professionals holding advanced degrees' or 'professionals and other workers'?

Hi Duda,
I am not sure whether you can take the test in Brazil. I live in California and will most probably take the exam here. I believe you can check their website or send them an e-mail. They usually reply.

I believe that the "4th step" is different. While for the ECFVG the only option is a practical exam (CPE), on PAVE you can opt between a practical exam (Veterinary Clinical Skills Assessment) or a one year program in a Vet School (Evaluated Clinical Experience at an accredited university). At PAVE website you can check the Universities that offer the Evaluated Clinical Experience.

Hello

Do not get me wrong. But please, new guys on this site go back and check previous messages, often you find your answers.
For examples check page 9, post # 424 you have links to videos. You know its hard for people who have moved on or at different stages of this license process to keep answering all the questions when you can actually see them here in various posts.
This is a chat place for many, if we keep posting messages over and over again for individual persons then you can imagine the next person who will come along and have too much. New info helps you know.
good luck, cheers PSSD

Could you please explain me the real difference between NAVLE and BCSE?
Which one do you recommend me to do?
Wich one is easier?
I need lots of help, because I'm trying to apply for an internship but I need NAVLE or BCSE..
Thank you so much !

Hi Yolanda,

I have only done BCSE and am in the process of applying for NAVLE, so haven't got personal experience comparing these two test. But from reading previous posts I get the impression that NAVLE is more difficult (more questions, and less time to answere questions). BCSE is also organized on a more frequent basis, so if you fail the test you don't have to wait that long to retake it.

You will have to do both, You should read this website first to know how this process is done.

Hello everyone I am new to this forum; however, I have been reading everyones experiences taking the ECVFG exam for the last couple of years. I will be taking the BCSE exam in December and was wondering if anyone here has taken and passed this exam within the last 3-6 months? I would like to communicate with you and ask you some questions about the exam. Also is there anyone in Hampton Roads, VA taking any of these exams? I graduated in June from Vet school in Kosice Slovakia.

Thanks and God Bless

Hi Cattleman,

I have taken BCSE within the last 6 months, so let me know what your questions are, and I will try to answere them for you. I posted a question a little while ago about how long it takes for a vet on a work permit to obain a green card. Would you be able to answere this question for me?

Thank you

I don't know what or how long the green card process takes. I was born in the USA to american parents so I have US citizenship. My email is [email protected]. I tmight be better to contact you through this method. Thank you

Hi everyone!
I just passed the QE and am now moving into preparations for the VCSA. Anyone have any advise on what to expect??? I can't seem to find any information on it other than the PAVE website which is kinda non-specific. I have athe VCRV course- which I found useful on the QE- along with the supplement for the CPE. Are the exams of the same nature? Do they still expect you to hand dip films and use drugs in anestesia like they used in the 70's? The CPE supplement refers to this, but maybe its slightly out of date? Does anyone know?

Cam Vet I am sorry but I wasn't going to ask you about the questions but rather if the course content was broken up as listed on the ECFVG website? Also what did you find helpful to study from for the BCSE?

No worries; the course content is broken up exactly as listed on the ECFVG website.
To study I used a combination of my university books, Merck's veterinary manual (on-line) and the on-line version of the Code of Federal Regulations.
In general I can say it is important to pick out information that is clinically relevant. It is not possible and not necessary to learn every minor detail.
Hope this helps

Hi Guys,

I posted asking avout the VCSA, but didn't share what the QE was like. I am doing this all on my own and didn't know about the ECFVG exam, or I probably would have gone that path. Anyway, cannot discuss individual questions- don't remember at this point anyway! But some advise... Everyone- go over the cranial nerves and injuries to all... I have some great info on this if anyone is interested. The sample questions on the website are mostly physio- the exam covers a lot of disease. The anatomy was radiographs and preparads, know equine legs!!! Esp carpals/tarsals and common injuries. Some chicken disease questions- know the most common ones- there are really only 4-5, so know them because thats a few questions you will get right. Know general pharmacutical drug groups- when you go over disease pay attention to what drugs are recommended specifically- equine!!! As in foals and rifampin + erythromycin in neonatal septicemia... these types of things. Time was an issue for me because there is a lot to read for each question- so do not dwell, just go back to it at the end. Unanswered questions are wrong- so answer all. If anyone wants to know more- just send me a line!!! Hope this is helping someone!!!

hi folks

i couldnt really read the entire thread since its like 19 pages long and im not really very savy with the (vet)lingo😀 im in my 3.5 year as a legal US resident and in 2 years i can apply for my citizenship. im on the fence about going back to my country(philippines) to pursue veterinary medicine for a number of reasons, but here are my doubts... will my foriegn degree be as good as a US graduate's after going through the ECFVG?...no glass ceiling of some sort?? what are the percentage of foreign vet graduates from non US credited school(specifically the philippines) that actually "made it" in the US? i would love to go to any US vet schools but the idea of paying that much money and being flooded with debts right after just makes me cringe. ive heard that vet schools in the philippines are much MUCH cheaper and with this economy it should be a no brainer. but like i said, i do have my doubts and would love to hear from other foreign graduates and hopefully from filipinos whove done it.

and sorta off note...should i wait for my citizenship before leaving for school overseas, or should i leave now and start all over from year 1 of 5 to become a US citizen? im really itching to go back to school but also cant wait to sing the star spangled banner legitimately haha 😀😀

thanks all :luck:

Here What I think you should do.
Wait for citizenship.
Go to your home country and get vet degree.
Come back to US and go through ECFVG.
This way you become a vet here with no debts.

Dear Friends,

I am new to this forum. I would like to know the BCSE exam preparation online guides available.

Is Zuku Review, for BCSE sufficient?

Rajesh

My friend. Do not, I repeat DO NOT leave the USA until you have your citizenship. You will jeopardize it in the future and you run the risk of not being let in once you have obtained your DVM license in the Phillipines. A Permanent residency or green card means that. You are a permanent resident. It means you HAVE TO live in the USA 6 months plus 1 day of the year in US soil. And that is from midnight to midnight.

So consider your options very well. Ask your immigration lawyer because I am not one but I am 99.99% sure of what I am telling you. The department of state frowns upon people that even leave the USA for vacation during their time of permanent residency. I have a friend that had some sour time because he went out to Mexico 1 day ( he lived in Arizona) and he barely recalled the incident. The did have records and did not like it but it was not a major issue. Would him have spent 6 months out and they would have revoked his citizenship petition, green card and deported they told him. At the end he was sworn a citizen.

whoa. but what should i do for the next 2 years? ive been applying at animal clinics for months and i cant even get a interview 🙁 i also feel that im getting old..too old for school by the time i get my citizenship. i dont really care about how old i am when i graduate...but i feel that my brain wont learn as good as my 20 year old brain atleast for vet school.

also, i was wondering if foreign vet graduates are treated equally in the work place or by the "vet society" in general? is there any "glass ceiling" of some sort to their credibility, salary, and respect wise?

so ive been reading alot about this re-entry permit that i can apply for before i leave the US. its basically a permit for me to leave for a period of 1-2 years then i would have to come back to the US so my green card/visa wont be jeopardize. so i was thinking, obtain the re-entry permit, study abroad, fly back to the US every summer vacation and just apply again for a re-entry permit and do this for the next 4 years until i graduate...is it really that easy? i really would love to hear from someone whove done this. i know the immigration has the last say if i fly back to the US or not, but what are the chances of me getting denied back to the US if i apply and follow these procedures correctly, i mean, what are the grounds for denying me back? i know staying over the aloted time, but what else??

I have uploaded many files to this website, I can't go through and read everything in them. So hopefully you find some good files.
Also there are lots of videos for CPE
