Friday thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just googled that and now I am curious about vinegar pie.

See? It's intriguing, isn't it? Also, the recipes look super simple. I cook a lot, but I don't really do desserts/baking, so I'm trying to work on that aspect. You know, in case I ever need it to win the third round on Chopped.

Got some reports to write. Some phone calls to return. Got an article to finish writing that’s due next week. Hopefully I can get started on the new season of Ozark, but psygf is coming over tonight.

Be safe, don't want any Psybabies running around in 9 months...

Taking the weekend off? The world must be ending.

Friday is the fun day when I call all of my patients for the next week and offer phone or video appts instead of in-person. Other than that, only one patient today. As I mentioned elsewhere, visits (even phone or video) have SIGNIFICANTLY decreased since this pandemic started.

Ah so it is not just me. I feel the rest of my dept acts like they are scrambling to keep up with volume and all of my patients are like...it's cool catch up with you once the craziness dies down.

I'm scared what my clinic is going to look like in a couple months once I start trying to catch up on all the in-person testing I'm not doing. In the mean time, it's a lot more administrative than clinical work right now.

I'm planning on spending as much of this weekend away from computers and telephones as I can. Except for gaming. Obviously.

I've almost totally caught up on my reports, so that's a bit of good news. I've been working 5-6hr days, mostly bc I know I have time. Thankfully my counselor has been booked for weeks via telehealth, so that's provided nice consistently for my patients.

I'm currently shopping for an outdoor golf training setup for my backyard. No idea how long it will take to get to me, but I need to get some practice in.

We’re trying to get a virtual game night going with our department. It would be interesting if there was a Student Doc game night as well...

Ozark was last night for me. Stayed up to watch the first episode. Can't wait to get through the rest this weekend.

Glad to see others are noticing a decline in their clinical schedules. I am seeing this too and admin is wondering what is happening/why we are all of a sudden not doing our jobs.

Cause veterans are out trying to find toilet paper instead. Or in my case, they have no idea how to use tele-health and do not want any more telephone calls as their families are now off work and calling them all the time.

Cool, so the world isn't going to end. This is my method of forecasting the future, kind of like Groundhog Day.

University of Washington currently predicts a peak in the second week of April. And the federal reserve just reduced the amount banks have to have in reserve to zero.

My forecast is... not great.

How do you know when you are really starting to miss sports? The answer is that you start watching simulated games from MLB The Show that your team's bloggers are putting on.
How do you know that you may have wasted hours on sports and don't really enjoy it as much as you thought? The answer is you are surprised with the free time you have in the evening when you aren't compulsively checking box scores for fantasy leagues.

I recommended the new mini Flightscopes! They provide the most accurate ball flight and club head data. I was waiting for something to hit the $1500 range and it looks like they are finally here.

Friday thread at start of business on a Monday....

Considering how often I am working from home, and how few patients I see now, every day is a Friday, I showered once over the past 3 days. Starting to gain some appreciation of the responses I get when I ask about basic ADLs...

I feel that way even though I'm still in the office. I'm "seeing" 3 patients on average daily right now. And, as I mentioned in another thread, the phone sessions aren't lasting long at all.

Kind of custardy, the vinegar just gives it a slight hint of acid.

Hmm, I have all the ingredients for this in the house. As you appear to not be dead or violently ill, perhaps I will give this a go later in the week. Unless Wis offers two day shipping on Vinegar pie???

My services don't come cheap.

Nothing work-related to do today. Started a 15-bean and ham soup, made instant pot vegetable stock for some meals later in the week. Awaiting a replacement belt to repair a vacuum, and worked on a puzzle. Gonna get some yard work done soon to get some sun. Band/bodyweight workout later.

Also, if anyone cares, Baseball Reference is simulating every games with box scores.

I care. What I care more about, though, is the rumors that the NBA is going to try to play out the rest of their season on NBA 2K20 with a player from each team repping for their guys. I'm so grateful Gordon Hayward is a gamer.

Also, everyone who is less busy since the switch to telehealth...I say this with affection, but I kinda hate you right now.

Same. I have to be on skype at all times now that I am teleworking or I get a text asking me to get on skype. Makes me feel super trusted and valued as an employee.

Costco membership....has paid for itself in access to Charmin.

We have a kid, and therefore an executive membership, I get more back in the cash back than the membership. We also let family use the account. Though, now that I have a business tax ID, I might as well move the membership over to that to write it off.

Would it help if I said that I accidentally stocked up on non perishable goods including booze because before coronavirus hit the USA?

My executive membership has as well, But $50 for annual access and bulk sizes of Charmin appear to be a solid value. Started your own LLC?

Yup, about time to expand non-clinical income, and about time to start utilizing a wider array of tax breaks. Getting all of that set up so that I can leave pretty seamlessly once all of this covid stuff calms down and not miss a beat on income.

Better go steal a mask first since some cities are now requiring everyone to wear a mask when out in public.

Do you have a bidet, or a garden hose in a pinch?

I have 1 roll of paper towels, 7 old shirts, access to many fallen leaves, 1 pack computer paper, and 6 paper grocery bags. These are not fun thoughts.

What kind of non clinical work? Sounds like a good move.

Neuropsych IMEs, record review, limited utilization reviews, etc. Pay is much better.
