Guys, I'm sorry if I gave erroneous info. about the April 15th dateline extention. My friend who is a first year there told me this and I shared it with you. In any case, I'm happy that there is no such extension and that we will be hearing something even sooner.

I second frany, if anyone on hold gets accepted, please let us know...

Zeppy-Zepp, I just got your PM. Sorry I have been out of town. I actually did read through the last few days of posts on this thread so I hope that the info that I share will be helpful to someone.

1st: Zeppy Zepp I am torn between whether or not I like my smiley face or not. On the one hand it is my favorite color. But on the other hand, the tongue is sticking out. You actually have seen me in person. What are you trying to say???? LOL

2nd: Okay, so this is what I have been told. FSU has accepted 130 applicants. On last Friday they had a mandatory orientation. But only ~70 people showed up.

3rd: Someone asked about Bridge. (Sorry I don't remember who, I just read through so many posts). But Bridge is the post-bac program. The number of students that they accept into this program is always 10% of the 1st year class. So for the upcoming year they should accept 10 people. I don't know much about the curriculum during Bridge, but I know that they do take Anatomy with the 1st year med students. And throughout the program they can only get A's and B's to get accepted into the first year class the next year. I think that it's a great program. They use Bridge for those students that they want to be in their med school, but Bridge just helps them to transition into med school a little better. Maybe their GPA or MCAT score isn't as high as they would like it to be.

Yes, I would say that around 70 people showed- although the orientation was not mandatory. You could be excused. Some people did come to the orientation who were holding muliple acceptances though..or that is what we were told.
 
well, i'm now officially confused about the april 15th date, but oh well. so has the committee reviewed the files on hold or are they still waiting to do that? i heard the committee didn't meet last week so maybe the previous week? i think they tell us all different things and then get on sdn and laugh at how we discuss all the different information. :laugh: such is life i suppose 🙂
 
They have not discussed the hold aps yet (to the best of my knowledge). I am guessing they're going to meet this week and next, in the usual Tuesday slot. At the risk of sounding like a geriatric... Come on movement!!! :luck:
 
Truly...I'm so sorry I spelled your name wrong, I thought I knew you so well I could write it without checking the spelling. I don't know what to tell you about the tongue thing, other than if you keep doing that you might get an infection..lol. I still picked your favorite color!

Changing topics, I'm as confused as an ant surrounded by water. I had heard that there were 115 acceptances and that there were 90 students on hold. I was later told by an admissions person that there were between 100 and 150 students on hold. It's impossible to get the facts here! I would say that having only 70 people at early orientation is a VERY good thing for those of us in the WL. Some guys here were saying that we would have great movement after april 15th, yet I didn't get a call this morning!!! :meanie:

Anyways, there is nothing to do but keep +pissed+

🙂 Thanks for that info Turquoisey. I was already thinking that it might not be mandatory, or even if it was mandatory that it was okay if poeple didn't show up. For one thing it was on a Holiday. I know there were even some schools that closed for Good Friday...

Zepp, I'm sure we were all hoping to get a call right after the April 15th deadline. But they probably have to meet again first. But there should have definitely been several people to drop their acceptances last week.

Have they been sending emails or just phone calls to accepted applicants? Has anyone heard if they are going to meet tomorrow (tues)? Good luck everyone. I hope we all hear something soon. :luck: :luck: :luck:

Any news? I wish I knew what’s been going on. Does anyone know why Adcomm hasn't gotten back with hold applicants? what could they be doing? 🙁 🙁
 
Yeah, I'm not sure what is going on. I wonder if they call or email applicants on Hold too. I've thought about calling, but thought it would just make me more frustrated 😛

I did call. This is what I got to my question: is the committee going to meet this week? FSU rep.: No. .... I mean, I don't know. They might. They haven't told me anything yet.

I asked how many people were on the waitlist today and i was told that she didnt know and that this was a hard/stressful time of the year. no joke. i have no clue what's going on there.
 
NO, no one knows for certain, but in lieu of a real date I am just imposing a date so I have something to look forward to.
 
i think she meant it was a tough time for them...but i said that it was a stressful time for me. then she said, well, it's definately a waiting game. i was like, yeah, i'm aware

Please tell me some of you all are like me. I don't mind waiting, but I hate waiting in the dark with no idea of what is going on.

Well, I was told that there are more than 100 on hold- no exact number though.
Btw, won't imposing a fake date just give you false hope? You'll end up more disappointed! 😉

Of course this is a waiting game, but I do think that they should give us a better idea of what is going on. I know at USF Mr. Larkin has been very informative with my friend who is on their waitlist. She can always contact him or he will promptly return her calls if she leaves a message. Obviously, we know that we have to wait (hence the term- WAITLIST), but at least give us SOME idea of how long, or our relative position on the waitlist.
 
I hear that. No system is going to be perfect, but I've been waitlisted at a few different schools, and I've come to appreciate communication. 😀
 
hello!

I was told that FSU was sending out letters to all accepted and they had to say either accept or decline in two weeks. Also UF was supposed to send out their acceptances this week or next.
I really want to see those who want to be at FSU this summer. It is a great school with a lot of great people.
 
The UF is sending out letters of acceptance is good new for us. Eventually ppl who prefer UF will go there if they get accepted. If the comittee did not meet yesterday, they might meet today. Also, if they accepted students have to respond in two weeks whether they accept or decline their spot, then the dateline wasn't April 15th. As far as ppl really wanting to go to FSU, I think if you look around this thread, you'll find ppl who can't wait to get that call (remember that list with the smilies on the right?)

This post was an entire waste of time :spam: ...I wrote so much and I really said nothing. Again nothing to do but keep +pity+

I have a feeling it is going to be awhile before we hear anything, considering the lack of information from the office and it seeming pretty disorganized. Let's hope that I'm wrong because I do tend to be a pessimist 😛

Well I can't really put a picture that is related to my s/n since it is my real name, so that would mean I would have to put a picture of myself as an avatar, and well....i dont like pictures lol. Instead you all can enjoy my dog, Freddie, as my avatar 😀

I'm just hoping that someone will get accepted by the end of the month. It would be nice to know something a couple of weeks in advance.
