We are a nine-physician group working at a level three trauma center in South-Central Maine seeking a tenth anesthesiologist to join our team. New graduates are welcome. Cardiac fellowship preferable though not required.

Typical workday is 7am until 2-4:30pm providing anesthesia in the care team model for a wide variety of cases, including ENT (occasional peds), general surgery, gynecology, major vascular (both open and endovascular), orthopedics (strong regional skills a must), plastics, GI, and some trauma. We typically cover two to three sites at any given time. The nurse anesthetists are employed by the hospital and very capable and work well under medical direction. We also cover L&D with approximately 800-900 deliveries a year (1-3 epidurals / day).

Those with cardiac fellowships would work with our two cardiothoracic surgeons, caring for patients undergoing CABGs, valve replacements, aortic aneurysm repair, TAVRs, and thoracic cases. Excellent TEE skills are a must. Cardiothoracic cases are exclusively performed as MD only with occasional thoracic cases being done under care team model with CRNAs. Our cardiac anesthesiologists spend 1/3 of their clinical time doing CT work, the other 2/3 will be with general anesthesia.

General call is 1:8 3p-7a weekdays, 7a-7a Saturday / Sunday. Precall day first out, postcall day off. Cardiac call is 1:3 pager call with rare call back.

Generalist salary is ~$380k to start; cardiac salary is ~$450k to start. 8 weeks PTO increasing to 10 weeks PTO after two years. Excellent benefits, including high-deductible health insurance with health savings account, separately funded health reimbursement account, and professional funds for CME, etc. $10K sign on bonus for two-year commitment.

Southern Maine is a beautiful place to live; most of the group lives in close proximity to Portland, Maine, named Bon Appetit's 'Restaurant City of the Year' in 2018. Great schools, less than an hour drive to ski slopes / mountains, lakes, and sandy beaches. Less than two hours to Boston / Logan Airport, though the local regional airport works well for domestic travel (Portland Jetport).

If you or anyone you know might be interested, please send them our way? Thank you!

Partnership track? Years to Partner? Expected Partner Pay? $550K? Do the Cardiac and non Cardiac Partners earn the same Pay? Is this a private group or hospital employed? The pay is fair for year 1 but a substantial raise is needed for year 2 and certainly year 3.
