A friend used to work as a SW in the same ED where I work now. She had to interview Preciousnoblecreation one day. The sibling was Thywillbedone (I can't remember if that was a boy or girl).

I anxiously await the day they return on my shift..

the other day we had little twin girls come through the ED:

Aliyah and Aaliyah

Seriously.

Working in Medical Records, one of my favourite encountered names was Contessa Divine Gaspang. She was a frequent flyer, and gave a lot of giggles to otherwise dull days of data entry. She evidently got tired of it, though, because I finally got a name change request.

To Imperatrix.

Gaspang.

Had a patient named - Dick McNutt. I think I would have used Rich as my first name....not Dick.

Seriously..I had a professor in college..named Dr Dick Feely.

I had a client name Cookie Grinder and there was Hal Lipschit...😀😀

Had a patient who's first name was "Theawesome." Literally.

I was walking past a leaders in diversity display at my corporate office and one of the featured business people was. . .

Wilma M. Mankiller

Too bad she's not a doctor.😉

Not to be too pedantic, but Wilma Mankiller is rather famous as the first woman chief of the Cherokee (or any major native tribal) nation.

Sorry, didn't mean to insult. I didn't know her story, just saw the name on the wall after I read through this thread a few days ago.

That's interesting and would probably explain the name. 🙂

Dr. Wiener has already been mentioned, but just for posterity's sake: http://urology.surgery.duke.edu/modules/div_urol_fac/index.php?id=6

And one that hasn't been mentioned, Dr. Wiswell; pronounced as if with a Z:

2 T.E. Wiswell, F.R. Smith and J.W. Bass, Decreased incidence of urinary tract infections in circumcised male infants, Pediatrics 75 (1985), p. 901. View Record in Scopus | Cited By in Scopus (64)

3 T.E. Wiswell, Further evidence for the decreased incidence of urinary tract infections in circumcised male infants, Pediatrics 78 (1986), p. 96. View Record in Scopus | Cited By in Scopus (54)

We have a frequent flyer named...Ronald McDonald.

Too bad we don't have a drive-thru or kiddy land.

He's always trolling for narcs. I'm waiting for him to ask me to "supersize" his order.

i'm finishing off a paper for public health, and I came across this article:

Burger T, Fry D, Fusco R, Luschini M, Mayo JB, Ng V, Roye-Horn K, Wagner N.

Multihospital surveillance of nosocomial methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant enterococcus, and Clostridium difficile: analysis of a 4-year data-sharing project, 1999-2002.

One day as a young RT at Bethesda Naval Hospital I got into an elevator with a MD that was a urologist with the last name of Penix. I had to contain myself until he got off the elevator. Thankfully he got off the elevator before I exploded into laughter almost pissing myself.

AGain as an RT, this time at a NICU in Silver Spring, MD I worked with a baby that had totally crazy father and a MOm that wouldn't stand up for herself. He would only names his kids with names or words that he made up....the words didn't exist and were combinations of letters and numbers. Seemed like space-cult type names. Everyone in the NICU wanted to beat his *** senseless because he was a jerk.

As a medical student, I have twice had a patient named Candida? I wonder/where the parents came up with that one......off the side of a tube of Monistat?

Wow, there are two of them! The music director for the Montgomery County Public Schools is named Richard Penix. He goes by Rick. I guess "Dick Penix" was just too much. People pronounce it "Peenix" all the time, too, so you know it's on the back of everyone's mind. Poor guy. I wonder if they're related? Same area of the same county, maybe it's not such a stretch.

A baby mama named her little girl

Mercedes Lexus

I think the baby mama drove a honda.

I believe Germaine from the Jackson 5 named his son Germajesty (sp?)

When I get done school, I'll be Dr. Lee

Wilma M. Mankiller

Too bad she's not a doctor.😉

I don't know about Wilma M. Mankiller, but Wilma P. Mankiller is very well known here in Oklahoma. She is the former Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

I had a patient in med school, a chinese woman, named Mae Dei You, but on the name tag outside the door (now a HIPPA violation) it said: You, Mae Dei.
Also had one named Queen Gay, on the door: Gay, Queen.

Had a patient named - Dick McNutt. I think I would have used Rich as my first name....not Dick.

LOL...... Ok, now THAT made me laugh..... Dick McNutt, haha. Oh I needed that.

Of course, I giggled when the professor "duty" one too many times during ethics lectures, couldn't imagine having someone introduce themselves as Mr. Dick McNutt.

Dick Hardt.

Also, Dr. Coffin, nicknamed Rip Coffin.

And one more: Charley Peter Charley Jr.

I came out of lurkdom for this. I worked in a high school last year, and had some rather... interestingly named students. I had a set of identical twins, Antony and Antonio. Couldn't tell one from the other, I don't think they knew who was who either.

Also, a few years before, there was another set of twins, Jose-A and Jose-B (pronounced hose-a and hose-b). Supposedly, the mother didn't know she was having twins, so the first one came out and he was Jose, then the second one came and he was Jose-B, the first one got a change in spelling to Jose-A. At first, I didn't believe it, but they still had records on them at the school.

We also had several Unique's. Seems like if everyone is named Unique, it's not so unique. Also had a student named Budda King. Also had a few devils named Angel (all boys, and this is how they described themselves). Another student was named Outlaw. Why you would name your kid Outlaw is beyond me, but considering he spent more time in juvie than in school, I'd say he's living up to his name.

myprecious and myangel (twins)
lemonjello and orangejello (le-mahn-jhe-lo)
abcde (ab-ce-de)
espn (es-pen)
penix (pen-eh, its french!)
****head (I don't remember how they pronounced it, I think shi-teed)
melena (me-lee-na)
T9C (te-nince-y)

I can't think of any more...

We had a kid named.....Causen Havek

I asked the Dad if the boy's sister was named "Rikin"....he just looked at me with a weird look as if to say "damn, why didn't I think of that?"

Marijojuana. Woulnd't believe it if I didn't see it. Really, parents can be so cruel. That borders on abuse.

The one that definitely bordered on abuse was girl I went to high school with. Her name was Mary Jane. Which wouldn't have been so bad, but she was born with no arms, so it was quite cruel of them.

I knew a girl named Candy Hart.

In high school a guy I knew was named Jim Butt. His mom was Rosey and his dad was Harry.

In middle school there was a poor girl with the name Penny Abigail Blow, and often wrote her name Penny A. Blow.

There is a guy at the school I teach at named Richard Shaver.

Elementary school classmate of mine named Sandy Hunt, older brother Mike...say it fast...in Jr. High he started going by Michael.

College roommate of a friend of mine named Mary Jane. We went to a party at her folks place out in the woods in Oregon and after looking through the photo album that included pictures of their best crops and her parents "on the bus" w/ Ken Kesey, I met her brother, Sage Bhodisatva, their dogs, Doob and Weed and the cat, Herb. Greatest party I've ever been to.

Reminds me of an undergrad friend, Mike Cox. As you can imagine, his name was stored in my phone with a certain phonetic spelling 🙂

A friend from elementary school was named Guy Mann.

And then there were the sisters I used to babysit: Sunshine Daye, Azure Blue, and Breezy Windchime. Ah, hippie parents...

I know a girl (Southeast Asian, I believe) with the first name Pornphan.

Orn for short.

Her English isn't great, and I wonder if she realizes that/why people snicker when they see her name...

On a peds rotation we had a kid with the middle name "notorious" - I kid you not. And his mom referred to him as "biggie" - guess she had a serious crush..... and there was a fair amount of singing every morning during rounds
