What are some interesting jobs to look into for a post graduation gap year? I'm planning only one year and would need to take time off for potential interviews so I feel like that limits my options. No research gigs please. I also am aware of Peace corps + TFA as well as being an EMT. I want to try my hand at something non medical

During my first application year, I taught a chemistry recitation, worked as a mentor for freshman science students, and tutored organic chemistry. All three gigs were through my university.

Get a teaching certification and do some subbing

Go through First Aid.

Substitute teaching is good and flexible.

Office work as a temp.. flexible and gives you some insight into workplaces that you might not otherwise experience -- the chance to see the world your patients will come from.

Tutoring either with a formal organization (Kaplan, etc) or freelance (if you have the organizational skills and have access to an affluent population that would buy your services).

I work in organ donation specifically eyeballs/corneas. It has been great, on call pay and hours so I only end up working about 16 hours a week but make as much as I would full time at a starbucks job.
