Interesting... For what its worth, I used priceline and expedia most of the time. Maybe this information can help others. 🙂
my mistake, they have both of the airports listed, it's just that there is no significant difference in the price o where i would notice that one is cheaper..i guess that could be because im flying from a very small city that doesnt sell very many plane tickets to dc
Hi, also if anyone near the Hampton would like to pick me up and share any parking fee that's fine too. We can share whatever parking fee I';m sure there will be near Georgetown.😀
I think I could do that... I just need a place to stay for less than $80, but my friend is trying to see if her aunt would let me stay at her place for the night.
LOL!! i just noticed that im the only guy interviewing on the 4th!! 😱😀😀
Nice pic, Flow. Ben Carson has been one of my personal inspirations and his TNT movie was awesome. What an amazing human being.
Hey, I forgot to add that the Hampton in Arlington is $109 (124 w tax) /night and includes complimentary internet, breakfast and parking. 12 minutes from campus too. 124 hurts, but the internet and breakfast is a nice deal.
Also, my GEMS letter has sweaty fingerprints on it cause I've been carrying it around with me all day lol!
I'm interviewing on the 4th also and I'm a male....Looking forward to meeting all you guys and girls.
AWESOME! Glad I won't be the only guy, not that it would matter anyway...But I too got my tentative intinerary in the mail yesterday. and the more i think about it, the more I realize that there is a real possibility that we could all be classmates in July!!! how cool would that be?!!
61% acceptance for interviewees!!
by the way..would it be weird if i were to bring my camera and take pictures?
I guess that this puts me somewhat at ease, as it seems as the tests are used to see how much support we need, sort of like a placement test, rather than a test that determines our admission, hopefully. Either way, I'm going to remain positive about this, as we've already come this far.The tests will assess science knowledge, study skills and non-cognitive attributes. No preparation is required. The
tests will provide additional information to the GEMS Admissions Committee and assist the Program administrators in
defining appropriate support for accepted students.
Hi everyone! I'm almost ashamed to say that I was on another, smaller thread wondering where all the people were! (As it says on the list above) I will be interviewing on the 20th. Super excited! I'm trying to catch up on all the previous posts, but just wanted to say hello! I didn't think it was fair to be reading about your lives and trials without saying hey!
I look forward to chatting with y'all!
Peace and Blessings 🙂
Hi all,
Just wanted to let those who are still waiting for a call know that I just received a call from Ms. Williams about an interview. Since I'm in the DC area, she asked me to be flexible and will let me know on Wednesday whether I will be coming for April 20th or in May. So calls are still being made, don't lose hope!
Looking forward to meeting everyone either next week or in May!

Anyone know if the average gpa and mcat score poosted on the GEMS website is for accepted students or just people who applied to the program?
one week to go!!!!
7 days= 158 hours= 10,080 minutes= 604,800 seconds!!
My stomach just sank when I realized that!
Does anybody know, if accepted to GEMS and reapply to Georgetown, if they will still bring up undergraduate coursework?
I can guess that it would be considered but the fact that you complete the same first year coursework as the M1s will probably hold more weight.

Yup, I agree. We're essentially being given a chance to prove we can hang with the big dogs by performing M1 work. This is huge because SMPs only accept a limited # of students for M1 work and GEMS gives it to all its students. I'm 100% confident that everyone here will at least high pass every exam. The attention you guys pay to this thread is predictive of that in my eyes.
Is it sort of like saying that since you have shown that you are capable of high passing Medical School courses, that what you did in undergraduate doesn't matter anymore?
Well, I wouldnt say it doesnt matter anymore but you got the idea. The school will no doubt still consider your undergrad performance, but achieving GEMS's seal of approval will make them more confident that you are the pupil they are seeking, thus the 80%+ acceptance rate. These guys have been doing this for 32 years. Make no mistake about it though, G-town med will look at your application from top to bottom as you are entering a world class institution and will be held to those standards.
i definitely agree with maxim, GEMS holds students to a very high standard and the fact that 80% of students matriculate into the med school supports that fact.
The letter makes it seem that we will be interviewed by either a GEMS peer or an admissions committee member. Can someone shed light on this? You think it will be e/o or both?
Naturally, I would feel a little bit more nervous with a committee member.
i think both, one of each depending on their availability. lol, im probably going to spend most of the time interviewing the GEMS student rather than him/her asking me questions.
Make sure you ask questions Ali G style, doing the west side with both your hands as you elaborate your question 🙂
but im thinking that the notorious Bon Qui Qui style is much more effective 😀
if you dont know who that is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZkdcYlOn5M
lol! that ripped guy was the man. He was about to choke out the skinny dude with his large intestine! 😀..and he got snuk so hard his eye popped out. LOL

...but hey serious question: if GEMS students are to enter the the Fall 09 program to hopefully enter the Fall 10' med class, that must mean we have to submit AMCAS pretty much as we start the GEMs program right?
From my understanding, the earlier we submit our AMCAS application the more advantage we have in gaining admission to a medical school. At this point, I do not know if GEMS Program have some form of support system that will walk the GEMS Students through the entire process. If they do, that would be great!
I would think that we will receive more information about this once we become admitted. I just pray that I am one of the lucky ones. 🙂
Greetings Everyone.
Congratulations for recieving your interviews. I know you are excited. The most important thing you can do is to know yourself and why you are there.
