This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
silver metallic with a gold shirt and platinum tie..o yea, got my bling bling too!! gold grill with the chain to match YEYA!!

but seriously though, i did get a killer deal from macy's as well...got a black suit, white shirt and blue tie maybe...im thinking traditional is the safest way to go

I'll buy you dinner if you actually sport that to the interview. LoL

I'd totally wear that to an interview... Seriously, though, I have really long legs and arms, and broad shoulders, It's hard to just pick something inexpensive up from the mall.

ok so are all of us who received invites male?

MK for $180? No way~! Lucky! I'm a skinny dude and it's really hard for me to find anything at Macy's that fits right. I'll probably try Men's Wearhouse or hit up Bloomy.

What color shirt? hehehe

Light blue/grey shirt with a nice light blue tie.

Tachy, I was also gonna go for solid black but while most guys look great in it, for some reason it makes me look like a mortician/body guard.

That metallic outfit description reminded me of Jerome from Martin:laugh:

lmao! he was TOTALLY the guy who inspired the idea!

i wonder how many people they're interviewing. I hope they take 100% of the interviewees this year. 🙂

well... The plastic hands on my plastic watch just struck 5, so it's time to leave work. hooray! i'll chat with ya'll when I get home.

Nah dude, he wanted to bring his new knife collection with him, and let's just say that he will be out of commission for a minute.

Dear fans,

Please do not associate me with that pooch murderer, Michael Vick. Please desist from your negative comments on my person or my lawyer will be contacting you shortly.

Sincerely,
Plaxico Burress

COOL, we have more pages than last year's GEMS students

Female! Where's all the other lovely ladies?

Booked my flight this morning... so excited : )

Nice, nice... Anyone here still students? I'm in my last semester of undergrad, and senioritis has definitely kicked in.

im thinking you may be one of the younger students. ive been out of school for a year. (23)

I'm 5' 6 hehe. I used to be a big fan of the Knicks back in the Patrick Ewing/John Starks/Marcus Camby days. I even named my golden retriever after him, hence the name.

I'm 23 too.

Lol, ok. I would have guessed that you played ball in college, and you were something like 5'10"+. I wish I played basketball, then I wouldn't have had to worry about finances all the time.

I'll be there the 4th. Good luck to everyone.

No sweat, Flow. Once we all graduate from Gtown med, we won't have to worry about finances anymore, after we pay back loans of course : )

I'm more worried about getting into Gtown. I just can't believe that they even considered me for the interview. I'm still in shock! I'll definitely be there on the 20th.

Congratulations to everyone who are invited to the GEMS interviews once again.

As for hotels, well I actually booked my flights and hotel together off of Priceline.com. I am coming from the west coast and the total came out to be just under $490 dollars.

I actually booked my flight two nights ago because I was getting really nervous about the increase in airfares and hotel rates. I mean literally, $50-$100 dollars increase over a 24 hour period was just a bit too much for me to swallow. Money is extremely scarce for me and I need to save whenever I can. Therefore, I booked my hotel at the Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center. For anyone who is interested, the hotel room came down to about $66/night. (I interview on April 20).

I do not yet know the exact location of the GEMS interview because I have not received the letter from GEMS Program as of today, but the hotel mentioned above is literally on campus and I have verified this by calling them. I hope this will help others who are interviewing as well.

Niiice. I think I am definitely going with that hotel and will probably get to DC on the 19th.

Dang it, I think you only get that price with the purchase of an airline ticket cause I just checked Expedia and its $209/night for the cheapest room.

Why not just call them and ask if they have any discounted rates? It may not be posted.

That's a pretty good deal for the hotel! Do you mind sharing how much the plane ticket alone came out to be? I am also flying in from the west coast!

Congratulations to everyone who are invited to

are you guys arriving the night before the interview? Not sure if I should get there two nights before or not?

I will definitely be there by Sunday, the 19th, in the morning. It should give me enough time to see the campus and DC. That should also be enough time to calm down and practice answering interview questions.

well, i am arriving Saturday night just in case there are any flight delays.

The flight broke down to $146 dollars each way and so round trip is $292 dollars.

I hope this helps.

im arriving saturday afternoon..going to enjoy some sights then spend all day sunday reading and preparing for the big day

Seems like hotel rates for the 20th of April are much cheaper than the 4th of May

This trip is going to cost me (us) some big bucks!

i concur dr. moto_za, but it's all worth it!!!! 😀

I agree, I agree!!😀 This is just a small expense we have to pay, wait till we have to pay tuition for med school😱!!

Not a doctor yet😀, but calling me dr. moto_za sure did give me the chills (in a good way that is)!!

Yeah, I'm going to be even more broke after this interview, but I'll do it if it gets me closer to that white coat.

It's gonna be hard getting accustomed to living the student life again aka being broke, man....but never will it be so so sweet to be broke😀
