I just took my DAT and I got some questionable scores. I scored all 19 for bio, g chem, o chem, and reading. I then got a 24 in PAT but only a 16 in Quant Reasoning.... (Just horribly bad timing for it).

Do i have a good chance of getting into UOP?
Other schools?

I have until next June to apply and i can spend all spring quarter studying again if i really really need to.

Would you take it again if you were me?

Thanks! Much appreciated.

You're gonna need to post up all your info for an accurate assesment

So I assume thats 18/24? To go with that DAT, you will need a really high GPA to compliment it assuming that you have no connections to school...but then keep in mind that UoP favors high DAT over GPA.

Although the avg of Uop is 3.3-3.4 with a DAT score of 21, that is actually the average between those that have alumni connections and those don't, and as far as I know, you really, really neeed to be excellent to get in there if you dont know anyone.

My friend applied to UoP last year with 3.6 and 21/21, and was outright rejected. I think that I might just have trouble getting interview from there...

Ohhhh...fellow Aggies! Davis is one of UoPs largest feeders schools so thats actually good news.

Damn, it's not exactly like i know someone working for the admissions nor do i have the option of a rich mom that can donate $10,000 to that school.

Me neither. But as a private school, they can literally do anything as they please. Your score is competitive enough to get you into other schools at least, but dont give up hopes on UoP just yet, you never know.

I'd really love to get into UOP (1st choice) but do i at least have a chance at other schools or should i just outright take the DAT again?

Thanks jig.

ahh another Davis head. Well you are not terribly low maybe if your extracurriculars/dental experience is good you can catch the adcom's attention.

hey jig. Did your friend apply late? I mean those are pretty solid stats. Maybe she/he didn't have much EC/volunteering/dental experience

He applied last cycle in late June/early July. He had around 50 hr of shadowing only, but decent amount of volunteering and a lot of EC, mainly research I think. He is off to Creighton.

Don't worry $10,000 wouldn't do much for you anyway. That's about a months worth of tuition. If you had a couple hundred thousand lying around though, that might be a different story..

But really, yes, davis is a major feeder school, but yes, your scores are a little on the low side. Is there anything that makes you unique? Pacific seems to be putting emphasis on diversifying their student body. Have you lived abroad, have you had an interesting job, would you like to teach after you get your degree?

You aren't their typical student statistic-wise but while there are acceptance stat trends, some of it seems like straight out crap shoot, so you never know. Good luck.
