Hi. Sorry for the cross-post (I posted this in the Allopathic forum too) but I didn't know where it would be best to ask. Has anyone used any of the pre-made micro flashcards? I was particularly wondering about Bug Cards as I've heard good things about them, but as I have only seen them in stores wrapped in plastic, there is no real way to get a good look at what the cards actually look like. How about the BRS micro cards or the Lippincott MicroCards (the ones that look like PharmCards) or any of the other kinds out there? Thanks in advance.

I thought the best way to approach micro was to study charts, because there is so much to know about the bugs, and you need to be able to compare, for example, different strep species. I photocopied the charts in "ridiculously simple" and put them in a 3 prong folder. Then I annotated the charts with info from our lecture notes. (And I did well in micro.)

Thanks for the reply. Those charts do seem really useful, but I'm a big fan of flashcards when learning a large number of little facts. I'm trying to figure what kinds of flashcards might be good not only for a micro course but also later on down the road when I'm reviewing for step 1. Anyone else have any input? Thanks in advance.

i also used ridiculously simple for micro, it was perfect. not a huge fan of cards. for step 1, i felt like q-bank and bss did a really good job of prepping me for micro. doing those questions really gives you a good feel for important differences, and the clinical presentation of various infectious dieseases. micro and path were the only two subjects i did really well on for step 1.
