I'm sure this has been asked before, but is it true if you have less than a 3.5 GPA, it's very unlikely that you will get into Pharmacy school?

I'm doing a lot better in my classes now, but I don't have a 3.5. I'm not sure what I have, but I'm probably a little over a 3.0 (maybe 3.2?).

I work in Walgreen's as a Pharmacy Tech/Intern (I started in July) and have a good amount of community service. Am I on the right path, or is my GPA going to hold me back?

I have below a 3.5.

You'll be fine.

And I wouldn't go around calling yourself an Intern. The actual Intern's have a tendency to get a lil PO'd about that, and rightly so.

that better NOT be the case. but if you look at the average GPA entering schools you'll notice that some are below 3.5. so there's definitely people with lower GPAs getting in.

It all depends on where you want to go, how strong your LORs and ECs are and how you do on the interview. My opinion it will be harder to get into the school you prefer but it is still completely manageable. ... Believe me it never hurts to try. Go for it and don't look back. 👍

Well technically, my job title is "Pharmacy Intern". That's what it says on the schedule at work, at least.

I know in the state of Florida you need to have gone to (or be attending) Pharmacy school and officially registered by the Florida Health Board to be considered an "Intern" ... I work at Walgreen's and I am a CphT and will be updating my status as soon as they accept my matriculation agreement.

You're not an intern, like others have said, untill you have been accepted into pharmacy school. *this varies from state to state in which some you can't apply for intern status untill after your first year. They may call you that but the term "intern" around here is 99% of the time used for students in pharm school.

Pcat score and LORs with a strong resume can make-up for the low GPA.

👍

pharm tech sounds better anyway... too bad in Maryland you need some kind of license to get a pharmacy tech job, and its not that easy to get apparently, so im sticking with my medical assistant job... your GPA should be fine, my GPA kinda sucks too, rounds up to 3.2, my freshmen year grades just tanked, it was in the 2s, took me 3 years of work just to get back to 3.2... so hopefully the schools will look beyond the overall and notice the gradual climb in my GPA, some schools look at how you deal with academic setback, i think this is it lol

I was accepted with a 3.49 GPA so I guess I was one of the lucky unlucky haha
