Also considering applying to: UCSF, Samuel Merritt, U Colorado, Regis, BU, MGH IHP, U Illinois Chicago, U Montana, Mayo, UMES

Trying to narrow down the list and make sure I have at least some schools I have a decent chance of getting accepted to. My cum GPA is a little below average for some of these programs; hoping other stats make up for it. If anyone has knowledge of how any of these specific schools weigh different parts of the app and how this would affect my chances, I would love your feedback!
TWU starts their process by first looking only at your academics. If you get a certain score from that, then they'll move you on to the next part of the process where they look at the rest of your application. This includes essays, extracurriculars, etc. Your gre score is outstanding. I think this makes up for your slightly less than average gpa. I believe you have a good chance of getting into a few of these programs.

My goal is to get into at least 4 schools. My freshmen year of college I attended a different 4 year school w/ a different major and received all Bs, so it hardcore brought down my GPA. Ever since I transferred to NIU, I've gotten straight A's. I'm currently retaking Anatomy this summer, and I plan on retaking Physiology in the Fall. After that, my only bad pre-req grade would be Statistics, which I got a B- in.

Any thoughts? Do I have a chance this year?

It's been a long path, but I've finally been accepted to a DPT program! As a non traditional student and PTA, the bridge program was my real shot at PT school since I need to work. I retook several courses at community colleges to improve my undergraduate GPA over about 4 years. Findlay here I come! Class of 2017. :)

Hello,
I just received my acceptance letter a few days ago from The University of Findlay's PTA to DPT program, and am curious to hear opinions of the program from individuals who are going through the program or have who have completed the program.

*How are/were your experiences with the program?
*How are the exams, labs, and homework assigned/performed? i.e. on-site at the university, online at home, or mixture of both?
*Where do people that commute from far distances usually stay when in Findlay for classes?
*Do most of the students work Full-time or Part-time throughout the program?
*Is there any advice you would give to someone going into the program that would help them be successful in completing the PTA to DPT program?

Thank you for your time, and all the best wishes to you in your future endeavors!

Wondering what you all might think about my chances to get in? A lower pre-req GPA (Chem I and II brought me down) than I would like. Freshman year was rough adjustment for me which led to poorer study habits, etc. (not that it matters much to admissions).

I had slightly lower GPA and GRE, but a lot more hours than you and I applied to MUSC last cycle as a Georgia resident. I was wait-listed and ultimately rejected the week before classes started. I think you should be pretty competitive in applying. It may be more competitive than last year though since this is their first year in PTCAS and are more accessible to people applying. Best of luck!

Not sure if i'm reading your Recs. correctly. But some schools require 1 rec from at least 2 PT's. So make sure you do your research for your individual schools.

Can somebody with experience in PT program admissions give me a general feel on my chances?

I received verification from PTCAS today... I hope I'm reading my GPAs correctly... Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this is good enough. My undergrad GPA on PTCAS was poor (3.16), but I've worked hard to build upon it with my post baccalaureate work.

Cum GPA is low because I was initially an engineering major for my first year at school. Since switching to exercise science, my GPA has been between 3.2-3.8 each semester, have continued to make dean's list etc. I can explain that in my application and I feel like 70% of the battle for me is having someone realize that and just giving me an interview.

Applying to: NYIT, Columbia, NYU, Touro, Stonybrook, LIU Brooklyn, and CUNY Hunter
I am being realistic and i know that I will likely get rejected from most schools, since I am applying to some pretty good programs. Anyone wanna chance me for fun? Just curious really. Thanks in advance! :)

You have really similar stats to me and I was wait-listed for 3 programs (1 interview, other 2 didn't have interviews). I don't know what those programs' stats look like for competitiveness, but it sounds like your main issue was the application being late. If that isn't the case, I would just find programs in your geographical region whose average accepted numbers are similar to yours and don't be afraid to look into private programs. They may be a little more pricey, but they tend to accept a lot more out of state applicants than public. Hope some of this helps!

Does "overall GPA" include courses for ALL college level coursework taken or does overall GPA mean overall undergraduate GPA?

I asked a few of the schools that I'm applying to this question and they said "overall GPA" includes every class you've taken.

I applied to: UNC, University of Wisconsin-Madison, MUSC, Regis, UCF, and UF. As a Georgia resident, I knew the first 2 were reaches, so those along with UCF were straight rejections. I was immediately waitlisted for MUSC and UF and had an interview, then waitlisted for Regis.

I got waitlisted and eventually rejected by UF. They stated my GPA and GRE were competitive with accepted students, but my letters of rec had minimal content in the additional comments section and that affected my ranking as well as my essay lacking some content. I didn't even get an interview for UCF, so I don't know what advice to give you for that program other than to move in-state ASAP haha.

CAN ANYONE GIVE ADVICE ON CHANCES AT VCU OR MUSC???? I AM AN INSTATE VIRGINIA STUDENT.

I am a current first year at VCU. I definitely think that you have a good shot at VCU - you are right around their averages for GPA/GRE scores I believe. That being said, I have classmates who had stats, particularly for GPAs, that were higher and lower than yours. Also, from what I can tell, you are from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies! - there are like 10 alum in my class, including myself), and VCU supposedly really loves Tech students. Best of luck! If you have any further question, don't hesitate to message me!

Hello everyone. So I made a stupid mistake with my PTCAS app and I would appreciate your input:

As I was filling out the reference section for one of my references (a professor), I accidentally chose "I do not waive my right to see the reference.." I must have thought I was clicking the "yes" box, but when I checked later on it stated NO. I have 4 total references and the other 3 (PT's) I chose Yes. I had no intent to choose no for the professor one. Anyway, I e-mailed PTCAS and they said that I can't change it because my professor already completed it. Will this hurt my chances? I understand that by law we are allowed to choose not to, however PTCAS states that program might feel suspicious about this. Has anyone chosen no before? Thank you.

You should be fine, but if any schools bring it up in your interview just tell them what happened and let them know that you have not looked at it.
