GPA's, GRE's, XTRA's, ACCEPTANCES

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was placed on the alternate list for UIC. Does anyone know how many were placed on the list?

I am grateful that I was accepted into Governors State And will need to put a deposit down by Jan 2.

UIC was my number one and I wonder how the program will have a better idea of potential openings around March 1 2017

Any thoughts??

When did you apply to NOVA and how long did it take for you to hear back? I applied on Dec 1st but havent heard anything yet.

They received my PTCAS application September 29th and my supplemental application October 27 and then I got a call maybe within a week from then telling me my application was being submitted for review and then I got an e-mail 12/8 saying I was accepted!

Yeah, that was the hardest part for me, but I went ahead and paid the deposit because it's my only 100% answer right now and I don't want to risk losing it. "A bird in hand is worth two in the bush." My top choices are UF, Nova, and it's a toss-up between MUSC and Mercer for third. Luckily I have an interview with Mercer in January, so it'll help me make a decision. Have you already gone to an open house for Nova?
Yeah that might be what I end up doing as well. I don't want to reject and then have that be my only acceptance. Good luck in your interview and decision making! :)

I just heard back from Nova as well! They gave me a deadline of December 23rd but I can't tell if the $1,000 deposit is due then or the deadline in January? I know the intent to enroll is due the 23rd but the e-mail was a little confusing. Congratulations on your acceptance, I'm still processing my news and can't believe it.
Yeah I think you can let them know by the enrollment deadline and wait to pay until Jan 15th. that might be what I end up doing to buy myself some time to hear back from other schools too. Congrats on your acceptance as well!!! I can't believe it either, I read the email at least 30 times to make sure I read it right haha.

Congrats! Also in the same boat...I was thinking about going to UIC on Friday and Northwestern on Saturday, 1/7/16 (it's a two day open house). Even though you won't be able to see everything at Northwestern, you'll have a chance to see both schools.

Yay! You got into UIC also!!! What's your #1 choice, btw? I think I recall you saying it was NAU, since it was in-state for you.

Probably NAU for financial reasons, but it could change after I visit and hear back from other programs.

I'd be out-of-state for UIC, so probably too expensive. You don't happen to know if they offer any scholarships/grants/assistantships or anything like that? Couldn't really tell from the stuff online that they sent us...

I don't think UIC offers scholarships, and even if they do, it's not as much as what Drexel offers.

I was wait-listed for an interview at Regis last cycle and ended up getting one, so it's definitely a possibility! After the interview, I was wait-listed again, and ultimately rejected. So there's a chance to move up to an interview, but from my experience, once everyone meets the staff and sees the campus/experiences Denver, it's hard to decline an offer if you get one. Which means if you're wait-listed after an interview, the chances are slim unless you are at the top of the list to fill a specific criteria of someone who declines. Hope this helps! Don't give up hope! Best of luck!

I was waitlisted for an interview with Regis as well, however, if I get an interview I will more than likely decline due to another acceptance (and steep deposit), tuition costs, travel costs, and other schools I am waiting to hear back from that I would choose over Regis. Good luck and congratulations on the acceptance!

Idk what I'm gonna do with interviews from Colorado, UNLV, and UCSF falling on the same weekend. They're all really good schools that I'd like to see, but it can't happen unless one of them grants me a reschedule or phone interview, and Colorado already said no! :bang:

Regis is also having interviews on Monday 1/30. You could prolly get them to switch you to that date if you wanted to do both interviews...

Thanks for the tip, I did email them requesting to change my interview date yesterday but the FAQ on the department website says that "no exceptions are made to assigned interview dates" so I don't exactly have high hopes. Oh well, never hurts to ask at least!

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing it's pretty easy to switch within existing options if you tell the admissions coordinator right away that you've already accepted another interview for that same date. I had to do this with two programs already, and it hasn't been a problem. If nothing else, people decline interview spots, leaving openings that they can usually put you into. When they say "no exceptions are made to assigned interview dates" I'm guessing they mean they're not going to interview you a completely different weekend when they're not already doing interviews.
