I am a non-traditional applicant who decided to change careers at the end of my undergrad career. Was very lost/discouraged until I found my passion (hence the lower undergrad GPA), but decided to haul ass once I did. I know I can't change much of my past, but I have worked hard to get to where I am now and hope my applications reflect that...would love to connect with anyone who has an interest in neuro or pelvic health esp since I do not know have any friends applying. Any tips would be helpful!

I know my cumulative GPA is low, do you guys have any advice on what schools I should apply to or if I even have a chance of getting into any school?
I also have a lower cGPA, I would rec looking at schools that take the last 60 units for your GPA and definitely talk about your experiences in your personal statements/interviews!

GRE: 156V 146Q 4.0AW
LOR: 2 PTs (one is the clinic owner and the other has 10+ yrs experience) and 1 professor (Developmental psych)

I am a non-traditional student who worked at an insurance company for about a year and a half, and it drained the life out of me. So I decided it was time for a career change and chose to pursue PT! I was able to score a front desk position at an amazing outpatient ortho clinic and have loved every second of it, further confirming that PT is the career for me. I have relatively average/below average stats, but was blessed to get accepted on my first attempt at applying, so THERE IS HOPE!!

Extra-Curricular: Youth leader and band member for church, small group leader

Observation: Gained just over 100 hours of observation outside of any administrative duties at the clinic I work at (i.e. directly engaging with patient and PT, not standing behind the desk or performing work duties).

I wanted to emphasize that GPA and GRE isn’t everything. Be passionate about physical therapy, be passionate about the schools you’re applying to and make yourself stand out in other ways. Good luck everyone!

Congrats on your interviews! You have a great and well-rounded application! I actually applied to widener on 9/8 and have very similar stats as you besides having less observation hours. Did you apply exactly on 9/9, and do you mind if I ask when you got the interview invite? Just waiting and getting anxious!

Thank you! Yea hours were tough to get because of COVID so I am sure most people don't have a huge amount. I just double checked and it was actually on 9/10 and my application got verified like 4 days later. They emailed me for an interview on 9/28. It is still really early so I am still waiting on other schools and I am sure you'll hear from them in the following months too! Good luck!

I did the Kira interview for UNE on 9/4 and heard that my application is going on to a full review. I did my undergrad at UVM and their decisions usually come out around late December from what I've heard.

I loved UVM! Especially their exercise science program. We did a lot with the community and I heard their DPT program does as well. They have a lot of great places on their campus for students and Burlington is a great city as well. I spoke with a couple students in their DPT program and they said the professors really want you to do well and that they feel supported.
