Congrats! By the way, how did you find out? Email, mail, or phone-call?

Thank you! They called me on the phone first. They also sent me an email later that day and mailed an acceptance package to my house

UPDATE (Acceptances):

Interviews: Univeristy of Delaware, Drexel University
Rejections: N/A
Acceptances: University of Delaware [09/25], Drexel University [09/25]

... 2 acceptances over the same night, and one immediately following a follow-up interivew. Wow

Slight update:

Interviews: George Washington University (new), University of Delaware [09/25], Drexel University [09/25] w/ scholarship (new)
Rejections: N/A
Acceptances: University of Delaware [09/25]**, Drexel University [09/25]

**I will probably deny Delware. They were *very, very* interested in me in the interview... but they have only given me three weeks to decide and mail in a check for the deposit. That's just not enough time, especially with scholarship offers and hope for more... writing them the email tonight will be tough though.

Question: Apparently I forgot to pay the $40 supplemental fee for Northwestern... can't believe I did that! It was due by Oct. 1st but the email implies I still have time to send it in? I've emailed them to be sure, but waiting until tomorrow is killing me (I live overseas... time difference). Any idea of if this will reflect poorly on me? I'm sure I'm just being neurotic about this process...

Congrats! What were your stats by the way?

And as far as Northwestern, I think you're fine. If they say you have time, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm applying this cycle:

University: University of Arizona
Major: BS in Psychology and a minor in Pre-Health Studies
Overall GPA: 3.9
Pre-Req GPA: 3.76 PTCAS
GRE: 164 Verbal, 156 Quantitative, 5.0 Analytical Writing

Observation hours: 111 hours observing in a pediatric outpatient therapies clinic. My observation hours are probably the weakest part of my application as I was required to commit for at least 100 hours to the peds clinic, and then I had to leave for Seoul. I've been trying to find more observation hours here, but it's proving hard with working full time 9-5 (and PTs also working 9-5). I am hoping that my hundreds of hours of volunteering in hospitals helps in this area, as I've definitely come to learn what it's like to work with patients and medical professions in all areas.
Work Experience: I worked on-campus part time during a few of my semesters in undergrad. Currently a public school teacher with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.
Extra Curricular: I've volunteered/interned for a few hundred hours at various hospitals, including homeless departments, general hospital wards, and an emergency department with a county prison contract, all serving under-served populations (I used to want to go to med school). I've also served as a biology lab preceptor and was a member of the Muralcles service club. I also studied abroad at the National University of Singapore.

Applying to (likely): University of Washington, Northern Arizona University, Northwestern University, UPitt, UIC, Temple University, Drexel University, George Washington University...

(I'm applying to many schools partly because I'm too thorough for my own good, and partly because I don't know what problems may arise with apply from overseas later down the road. I do need to include a few more safety schools, though).

Ah, I didn't realize that it hadn't included my stats when I quoted from a previous post, so here they are (above).

The email mostly implied that I had time (and sounded a bit auto-generated), while the program requirements page listed a hard deadline. This is the first mistake I've made during the process, so it's probably just got me nervous.

I pretty much have no hope. I'm taking general Biology II this next semester to up my pre-req but I don't know if I should apply to more schools or just prepare for next cycle because my stats suck.

The PTCAS kept telling me to use my general courses for the prereq part even though I ended up getting As in the specialized courses so that sucked too. I just hope I get in somewhere but my Science GPA and my main GPA are nothing to write home about. Praying for a miracle and looking for other schools to apply to.

I'm assuming you are from the Tri state area then 🙂 ? You'll probably get in though. This is my first time applying and my stats are terrible. I was a lazy freshman but ended up getting high grades my junior and senior year :/

Had a great interview with only 8 other students at Utica today. Really enjoyed the campus and what the program has to offer. The only deterrent is the massive price tag. At the end of the day, they called all eight of us back into the conference room and accepted all of us on the spot. Said it was the best group of applicants they've ever had at one interview session and that they'd never accepted people on the same day as their interview before, but they didn't feel a need to make us wait. Grateful for that. Huuuuge (Billy Fucillo HUUUUUUGE) sense of relief to be accepted somewhere so early. Gives me a ton of confidence going into Upstate Med and Stony Brook for interviews in November.

It's the number of hours of exposure you have.... Some school weight big on that... I don't know much about that particular school but I'm sure other will take you with your stats

Well, I have silently watched these forums long enough. As you can see, my cGPA is not very good and I have beat myself up over it for years. I am a non traditional student and not a good standardized test taker. I dealt with a lot of issues after being separated from the Marines. However, I am finally able to post here. I got my first acceptance letter today via email from Touro NV and I couldn't be happier. I yelled "YEEEEESSSSS" with a Tiger Woods fist pump right square in the middle of my campus...didn't even care that people were staring at me.

Volunteer: in the process of acquiring intern position at UCI PT dept, requires 100hrs minimum (plan on going way beyond 100), currently waiting for reply back from other clinics, and continuously searching for more opportunities.

Take Notice: I only discovered physical therapy this past year, after I took a few kinesiology activity classes and met some kines students who were aspiring to become PT’s. After much thought and research about the field, I am deeply interested in everything about PT.

Obviously I am taking a year off to get as many volunteer hours as I can, and hopefully acquiring a PT aide position in the near future.

I am not applying until the next cycle opens in summer 2015, and during that process I would be continuing to gain hours. Also, I can easily attain 3 solid LORs.

What are my chances of getting into PT school, I’m applying to all Cali schools (not sure about USC though I’d probably be wasting money applying there), and only a couple out of state. Any thoughts and or suggestion?

Definitely your Verbal score. 153 barely meets their requirement for ED, and is well below their average for accepted applicants. How many of their "strongly suggested" and "suggested" courses did you take? Even though they aren't required, not having them puts you below those that have taken them.

I applied to a lot of schools cuz my Verbal GRE score sucked (the primary reason I was rejected from Mayo) and I had a couple of withdrawals on my transcript

I'm also from Cali and applied to a few schools here. If you're willing to apply to private schools, your stats are golden right now. However, if you're looking into public ones, they're incredibly competitive. You have plenty of time until you apply, so I would retake the GRE and make sure you have a variety of observation hours. 100+ at one place is cool, but 100+at 3-5 places gives you a much better idea about physical therapy. You'll also have more physical therapists to choose from when you need letters written. Other than that, your GPA looks pretty solid. If you have money/time, maybe retake a few Pre-Req classes to get a really competitive GPA, since yours is around the average for the public schools.

Congrats. I was also accepted to UD and sent in the deposit.

That's great! I loved the program and everything, just keeping my options open for something closer to home.
I don't blame you one bit. UD was the best option for me. Good luck with the rest of your decision making process!

That was my intended school. So I have taken all of suggested courses and got high grades. I think you are correct about verbal scores. Most of applicants have high verbal scores and it is one of my limitations. Thank you.

I'm really not sure. I got the letter in the mail, and I was so confused.

This is definitely a case where I would contact the school and ask them how you could have made your application stronger. So weird. I don't know anything about Elon's requirements, but maybe you missed something? Like you didn't take a pre-req, or they don't accept online courses for pre-reqs?

Congrats on your acceptance to UD! I'm sure you will have many other acceptances to choose from.

When did you submit your application to Duke? Did you apply ED? Congrats on being accepted!

MisplacedLondoner,

I applied back in July, and yes I applied ED. Did you apply there also?
Ahh ok. Yes I did, but regular decision. I submitted early September and they emailed me about a month ago to say my application was under review, so it might be a little while yet. I love Duke's program so I'm anxious to hear from them, although my stats are on the lower end..

I love the program too, I'm so excited/anxious to begin. Duke doesn't have a minimum GPA/GRE requirement, so don't fret if your stats are on the lower end. I heard that last year some people didn't hear back until the spring.
Good luck!!

I guess I'll give this a try! My stats aren't all the great, just hoping schools will look at the whole application and not just the GPA and GREs.
