BS: Virginia Tech, Animal and Poultry Sciences
BS GPA: 2.77
Post Bac GPA: 3.86 (took anatomy, physics, and statistics here)

PreReq GPA: 3.48 (currently retaking chemistry to bump this up)

Work experience: 3 yrs in poultry genetics research, 3 yrs in antibiotic resistance research & last year I worked full time, attended grad school full time, and completed my thesis study (needless to say I didn't sleep much). This year I'm a full time grad student on a merit based assistantship.

3 pending publications, 3 published abstracts. TA for Animal Anatomy & Physiology lab (2 credit lab w/actual dissection of pig/sheep/cow). TA for a professional development class as well (helping teach undergrads how to write professionally and construct resumes etc.)

Interviews: George Washington (11/21)

I sent in my apps for everything except Marshall in early September...I applied to Marshall September 30 because I started freaking out that I wasn't going to get in anywhere...

I, only, ask as this is my 2nd app cycle and I'm worried that I may not get in anywhere again even though I applied to 15+ schools this time around.

Congrats on getting an interview for your #1 choice... How and and when did UNT notified you about your interview and when did you submit your application?

Thank you! Trying to keep this short, my wife was in OT school at Colorado state university the first year I applied so I sent applications into Regis and CU. Those schools are tough to get into but I figured I'd give it a shot. Last year, I applied to a bunch of programs (~10) but some of those programs are hard to get into and I think I applied too late for the rolling admissions programs. Basically, this year I focused on getting my applications in early (e-submit 7/23) and applying to programs with rolling admissions.

As far as why I didn't get in... I think it was because of my low GPA and GRE scores, my GPA can be attributed to one poor year in college (3.6 last 60 hrs) and I only took the GRE once without studying- if I could do it over I would certainly retake the GRE. I'm sure everyone thinks their LOR's and Essays are solid but I think my experience and EC's are what stands out in my profile.

I got an email this morning from Felicity White asking me to call them at my earliest connivence. And when I called, Sean Bass said that they want to schedule an interview with me. My application was complete in early June.

Why is it hold/pending? but that's still good news. Do you know what date it would be for?

I received a letter on the 24th saying that my application is on "hold" for interview. My resume will be presented to the admission committee throughout the app cycle and I may be granted an interview in the near future. So I'm basically "waitlisted" for an interview. Blah! :/

@alaskagirl21

How are you accepted to RMUoHP if you interviewed there yesterday? I know they do early decision but it doesn't seem you've done that because you applied to a bunch of other schools...

Had a great interview with only 8 other students at Utica today. Really enjoyed the campus and what the program has to offer. The only deterrent is the massive price tag. At the end of the day, they called all eight of us back into the conference room and accepted all of us on the spot. Said it was the best group of applicants they've ever had at one interview session and that they'd never accepted people on the same day as their interview before, but they didn't feel a need to make us wait. Grateful for that. Huuuuge (Billy Fucillo HUUUUUUGE) sense of relief to be accepted somewhere so early. Gives me a ton of confidence going into Upstate Med and Stony Brook for interviews in November.

Two acceptances in as many days. I could cry I'm so happy.
EVERYONE WITH AVERAGE-ISH STATS: YOU CAN MORE THAN MAKE UP FOR THEM WITH YOUR ESSAY, SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATIONS, AND INTERVIEW SKILLS. YOU HAVE HOPE.

I didn't apply ED but I did submit before their soft deadline. They emailed me about a week and a half ago with an invitation to an early interview. I interviewed yesterday and 20 minutes after the interview was over they called to tell me that I was accepted.

I know there is a lot of room for improvement in a few areas. Comments are suggested on the likelihood of getting into a DPT program.

Retake GRE. You and I have applied to most of the same places. I went to UNF's open house this week. There is definitely an emphasis on the science prerequisite GPA and verbal portion of the GRE. IMO, the school seems great and the faculty were unbelievably warm and inviting. The head of the program actually teaches like three classes. St. Augustine likes it when students come for a tour by the way. I did so last summer although I haven't applied there for the fall cycle, but am considering the spring cohort. They seemed to emphasize your personal statement.....which is honestly pretty cool if you seriously enjoy pt and understand why you are choosing it for a career. Since you're applying to Florida schools, you probably won't hear back for a while. Definitely normal for our range of schools. I believe Nova offers rolling acceptances though.

I know there is a lot of room for improvement in a few areas. Comments are suggested on the likelihood of getting into a DPT program.

Do you have time to study for and retake the GRE? I don't feel like looking up the deadlines of any of these schools or if any do rolling admissions lol. The rolling admissions ones you'll be too late in the cycle (if you have any), but if you have schools with hard deadlines in december or january you may have a shot at sneaking a better GRE score in there before the buzzer. Having <4.0 AW will hurt you big time.

So you were working for a tobacco company trying to figure out new ways to get kids to start smoking? :cigar: :cigar:

More like figuring out why college aged people start smoking. And it was specifically e-cigarette (or vapor) research! Nice emoji though; haven't seen that one used often!!

I liked my version better. I think having a controversial EC activity is good, you have to do something to stand out from the rest of the applicants these days...
