Ha! Sounds like a cop out. No idea what that means. Maybe you didn't submit a supplemental or something?

haha na I submitted everything. This is what the e-mail said...

Thank you for your application to Lynchburg College’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. A significant number of qualified individuals have applied for admission to our DPT program this year making our admission decisions very difficult. We have carefully reviewed your application and at this time we are unable to come to a final decision. Your application will remain under consideration for acceptance until a final decision can be reached.

So I guess they will let me know sometime in the future...its like I'm in limbo or something...I don't get why they needed to send me this e-mail, they could have just sent me one in the future once they reached their final decision

I wouldn't worry about it at all. You have already been accepted to a good school. I'm sure you'll get more acceptances with your stats. All that really matters is that you will definitely be sitting in class somewhere🙂

Greetings,

I have been lurking around here for a while trying to remain sane while awaiting for acceptances/rejections. Figured I would contribute to the wealth of information:

Thanks... Yeah I'm not worried about it I just thought it was a funny decision. I'm pretty set on going to UNE unless I get into one of the schools in WA.

Has anyone applied to Indiana University and been invited to an interview? They said invitations would be sent via email on or before 11/14 and I haven't heard anything from them yet (it's 11/15 now) so I'm guessing I wasn't competitive enough for an interview. But I'm kind of hoping they are just a little behind schedule with the invites because I at least expected a rejection letter rather than a non-notification. Has anyone been invited to an interview at IU?
I have an interview on december 5

UPDATE - ACCEPTANCE! WOOHOO!!!

University: University of Florida
Major: Industrial & Systems Engineering (graduated in 2007, this is a career change for me!)
PTCAS Overall GPA: 3.28
PTCAS Pre-Req GPA: 3.75
Post-bacc GPA: 4.0
GRE: 161 V / 162 Q / 5.0 AW

Extra-Curric: I'm non-trad, so I agree that there's not a ton of extra time with a full-time job, taking pre-reqs, and getting in observation hours. I'm on the board of a non-profit that works with orphanages in Haiti, and I've also done some occasional volunteering with Special Olympics

Volunteer: Right now, I have about 60 Outpatient, and about 10 Inpatient. That should continue to grow, and I'm hoping to have at least 100 by the time I apply, and even more after that.

My GPA is on the lower side, but all of my lower grades were in specialized engineering classes (helloooo Thermodynamics!) so hopefully they won't have as much of an impact on my chances of getting into PT schools.

Applying: Nova Southeastern, Miami, Maryland, GWU, Marymount, and Arcadia. Hopefully that casts a wide enough net and I'll get in at one of them!

Interview: Maryland Baltimore (11/5)!

Acceptance: Maryland Baltimore (!!!!!)

Still waiting to hear back from a couple others before making my final decision, but I am THRILLED to have been accepted at UMB!

Accepted: Utica College (10/16) University of New England!!! (10/17) UPSTATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY!!!!!! (11/17)

ATTENDING: SUNY UPSTATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!!!!

I feel so blessed to be able to write this. So many of my friends, family, and professors believed in me so much more than believed in myself this cycle. I knew I had the ability to get into a program, but I honestly thought schools like Upstate Medical would be out of my reach because of their stats listed on PTCAS. I was relieved to get an interview, and knew that was my chance to sell myself and really thought I nailed it when I left. Clearly, I did. Again, people with average stats: you can make up for it by being awesome yourself!

It is a phenomenal program, with in-state tuition (saving tens of thousands of dollars), is only 2 hours from home, and I have a number of friends already in the program. I am ecstatic. I cried. Mom cried. Dad cried. Younger bro cried. One of the best days of my life. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all of their help and support during this process. I look forward to remaining active here to help others in the future.

Hi all, I mostly lurk here and appreciate all of the useful information, but on occasion I do post things. Here are my stats and school updates:

Undergrad: Cal State Fullerton - Degree: B.A. Psychology; GPA 3.2 (PTCAS)
Post Bacc: University of Oregon - Degree: B.S. Human Physiology; GPA 4.04 on transcript, 3.89 PTCAS
Overall GPA counting both: 3.5 (PTCAS)
Pre-Req GPA: 3.92 (PTCAS) 4.0 other schools that count theirs differently
GRE: 157 Verbal, 150 Q, 5.0 AW (I probably should have spent more time studying, but oh well)

Observation: Outpatient ~200 (I work as a PT Aide) and also observed in a variety of outpatient clinics including hospitals, a neuro center, and small and large independent practices. Inpatient ~10 hours

Extra Curricular: I'm a non-traditional student being older (32 y/o) so I work full time. Not a lot of time for extras but I volunteer sometimes with Thinkersmith, an organization that helps promote computer science education for young girls and a few homeless support organizations.

Work: I work in two PT clinics. One as a front desk scheduler and the other as a PT Aide. It's great getting both perspectives of running a clinic.

Applied to: Columbia, Univ. of Miami, Washington University, WesternU, University of Vermont, Pacific Univ., Eastern Washington, Pittsburgh, and Duke

Interviews: University of Miami (12/5); Columbia University (01/06)
Rejections:
Acceptance:

I have only heard from two schools so far and gotten interviews at both. I anticipate hearing from Pittsburgh and Duke next. The west coast schools take longer to get back to you apparently.

So excited to receive a call from Nova this morning! I honestly feel so happy to have two acceptances under my belt. All throughout undergrad, I felt as though I would never get into PT school. Major: Biology
Overall GPA: 3.36
Prerequisite GPA: 3.51
GRE: V: 160, Q: 154, AW: 4.5
Experience Hours: Inpatient: 114, outpatient: 100. Recently got a new job as an aide in an outpatient clinic.

Applied: Arcadia, Armstrong Atlantic State, Chapman, Chatham, Drexel, Franklin Pierce, Husson, LIU, Marymount, Mount St. Mary's, NYMC, Nova Southeastern, Sacred Heart, Stony Brook, Thomas Jefferson, Touro, U of Miami, U of New England, U of Pittsburgh, NYIT.

Interview: LIU (10/20), Drexel (10,24), Chatham (11/8), Stony Brook (11/21) Declined, NYMC (12/2), U of New England (12/5).

Denials: LIU

Acceptances: Touro (Declined), Nova Southeastern (11/18) (!!!)

I applied to ten programs last year, got waitlisted on a few but ultimately did not get accepted to any. Since my reapplication I got 100 more hours of observation and retook two prereqs turning two C's into A's.

I was just accepted to NSU and am seriously considering it. My biggest alternate option would be to wait for Drexel's decision, which I really loved. Either way, I will be calling the remaining schools and letting them know I'd like to be taken off the applicant list, so I can make way for other hopeful candidates.

Others have stated here, it is possible to get accepted no matter what your situation. It's true. After being denied last year I had lost hope. I felt a crushing feeling that I just would never get in. But I fought through it, came out with (still below-average) numbers, then got in to one of my top choices. Hard work almost always pays off! Hang in there.

YOU GO SUNY-BRO!

Cool, good to know! Are you familiar with schools in VA? I wasn't planning on attending the interview at Shennadoah, but after doing some research, their tuition and program sound appealing... So I'm trying to decide on whether I should visit there or URI.

A DPT I shadowed graduated from Shenandoah. He loved it, but he said he could have probably gotten the same education at a lesser tuition. I do know that Shenandoah overall has a really good health science program.

Great attitude! I have several friends that are in your boat so I love seeing people that remain positive. It just shows how passionate you are and you'll make a great PT in the long-run. 🙂 Let me know what Drexel's decision is! This is one of my top choices.

I'm really excited about the 3 schools I've heard back from! I'm not sure I'll accept the interview to Sacred Heart (if anyone knows any specifics about their program, I would LOVE to know more!). Also does anyone know the likelihood of getting accepted to schools that offered you an interview? I'm really wanting to get accepted to GWU and Creighton, and I'm just not sure of the mindset I should have going in! Any feedback of any of this would be amazing. Best of luck to everyone! 🙂

It's about time! I've been pulling for you for awhile now.

haha na I submitted everything.

I got the same response from them

oh okay...yeah Shenandoah and URI both have tuitions that are just as cheap as the state schools in Cali when you factor in the cost of living, so I am intrigued to check out both
