@ANB90,

How has your pre-req GPA affected you during the interviews, if given at all? I'm trying to raise my pre-req GPA by re-taking classes as most schools won't even consider, IMO, anything lower than 3.5.

@ANB90,

most schools won't even consider, IMO, anything lower than 3.5.

I know you said that's your opinion but that's absolutely not true. Plenty of schools have accepted plenty of applicants with a pre req lower than 3.5.

ANB90, Why did you not accept UNE's offer? (or am I reading that incorrectly) Best of luck this time around!

I've come to find this is an excellent site to find knowledge and learn from what others have gone through while being in similiar situations. I currently attend Middle Tennessee State University which does not have a Physical Therapy program. And just not hitting that stride of focus in college career actually. I was wondering what in majority of universities that you apply to for graduate learning are considered the pre-reqs to physical therapy? I have a little bit of time left in my gpa is not currently high enough in some of these classes to retake before I actually plan to apply. But if not accomplished what is some advice on boosting an application if gpa, and pre-req gpa aren't the highest? Would you say have an abbundance of volunteer, and shadowing hours? Thanks for any knowledge dropped. O and congrats to all those who have gotten into the programs that they wanted to go to or accepted them.

wow if i was to apply/ graduate at this moment I would match up pretty similiarly (I have this year and the next though to do better). But how did it end up for you?

Pre-reqs for PT usually consist of Chemistry I & II, Physics I & II, Biology I & II, Anatomy/Physiology I & II, Statistics, sometimes 1 or 2 psychology courses, and occasionally some extras like Biochemistry or Organic Chemistry. Every single school is different, some require a lot more (or less) than others, so you just have to research whichever specific ones you're interested in. As far as how to boost your application, volunteer/shadowing hours are always the best to have. Do it as much as you can, and also be sure to volunteer in a variety of different PT settings (like pediatrics, geriatrics, sports rehab, etc.) Schools like to see that you have experience in different areas. I wouldn't worry too much about being involved in clubs/groups on campus. If you could land a job at a hospital or a clinic of some sort that would be helpful too! Just study hard for the GRE and volunteer as much as possible. That's the best advice I can give you 🙂 Good luck with everything!!!

thank great assist like i previously mentioned don't have an actual pt program here, and our pre pt basically non existant haven't been able to really help break down the path beyond undergrad. i just met with an advisor in my degree (exercise science). was told only classes needed to take to prepare for pt or apply was chem, and the physics classes. i have to take a&p for major of course, but beyond that seems like it would be safe to take bio 2 and statistics as well? and definitely plan to look into some options as far as volunteering at hospitals, and rehab clinics.
