GPA's, GRE's, XTRA's, ACCEPTANCES

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What was their interview like? I have had one normal interview and then a very different one so I am trying to gauge what USA's is like.

My interview was a group of 3 but other people had a group of 2. The interview last about 30 minutes where one question is asked and each person gets a chance to answer. Be prepared for standard PT interview questions, but also depending on your interviewer you might get an off the wall question just testing to see how you answer it. I have heard of some USA interviews being very laid back and then others like mine were a little more serious. Since I was in a group of three there were only 5 questions asked, expect more if you are in a group of two.

You start the day with some information about the program, write an essay, tour, and finally the interview. I would expect anywhere from 100-130 people at your interview, depending on your campus (Also Fall class apparently has more total applicants too). In my opinion prepare like you would for a standard PT interview and you will do fine, their intent is not to trick you at all.

Good Luck!

I was very upset to find out that A.T. Still had sent me an email to complete the supplemental application but I never received it 🙁 It must have been filtered as spam. By the time I checked in with them, all the spots had been filled and my application was closed.
So sad - Colorado was my top choice. I did feel like I completely blew it in my interviews, though...
When did you hear from UVM?

I worked my butt off in last 4 semesters for undergrad, my personal statement, getting recommendation letters, volunteer etc to compensate for my initial poor GPA. I hope this was helpful!

Just wondering how and when you heard from Lynchburg. Did you have any kind of interview with them? Thanks and congrats on you Acceptances!!

Just wondering how and when you heard from Lynchburg. Did you have any kind of interview with them? Thanks and congrats on you Acceptances!!

Thanks! No interview. Initially, they told me that no final decision can be made back in November 2013. I guess some people declined and my application moved up. They called me with an acceptance offer about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

I received a call from Lynchburg on January 24th informing me that I was accepted. I guess that is when all calls went out? I did not have to do any sort of interview.

I interviewed there also and did not get in. The interview felt very rushed. Did you end up getting accepted?

I haven't gotten anything yet, but if I don't get in it will not hurt my feelings at all.

So I was not the only one who felt that way. I just felt like they did nothing to sell themselves to us, because they had so many interviewing they felt like they could have the pick of whomever.
What other schools are you looking at?

^It's a tough choice between UIC and Iowa, but I'm an IL resident so I'll save a lot on tuition at UIC and I'd rather live in Chicago than Iowa City. Best of luck to everyone!

wow I find that very shocking with how competitive PT school is, for the applicant and the school.

Glad to hear the campus is very nice, my brother is looking to go there to finish up his undergrad.

USA is really just one building but but it is all dedicated to PT,OT and OA which is nice plus the city of St. Augustine is amazing, I am sure you will like it when you go.

They offered an excellent tour at their open house probably assumed many had already been to the unf tour?

Been accepted to Downstate, Upstate and CSI. Anyone have any info on the programs, I'm really undecided.

I'm in the same position you are -- deciding between UF and FGCU. I visited UF last week and loved it. Could you message me after you visit FGCU to let me know what you think about FGCU?

It was a very nice campus surrounded by a palmetto forest with lots of lakes spread around, jogging paths, housing etc... Everything looks new. The PT building had classes going on, so I didn't get to look at as many classrooms as I would have liked, but the one I saw looked new and well outfitted. It was full of stretching tables and anatomy models. The Health Sciences admin I met said I should have come on Spring Break when all the rooms were empty.

Wondering what my chances are of getting off the wait list and into either school. I heard Jefferson keeps about 200 people on the wait list and only accepts 2 or 3 people. Not great chances. Still hoping for Scranton since it's my alma mater. Anyone have any input on how to go about finding the number you are on the wait list? Or how to better your number on the wait list?

I'm visiting Gulf Coast on Friday to make a final decision. I only know what's been written about the school, so hopefully I can get a tour or maybe walk around the PT building. It's between Gulf Coast and UF though.

Have you made your decision on which school you want? What did you think of FGCU? not many people seem to know much about it…

I'm pretty set on SDSU! I'm going to go visit it next week before making my final decision though.

I am still waiting to hear from Chapman. I tried emailing Serena but she never responded...Also, I had a weird experience with Azusa Pacific. I applied back in September for the class beginning Feb 2014, but never heard back from them. I just assumed I didn't make the cut for an interview. Well I just received a letter thanking me for my application for the class beginning Feb 2015 and saying how it's under review etc... Did this happen to anyone else?

The fear is really sinking in.

Four wait lists is a good pool you've got going there. From what I've heard, schools still get a lot of drops through the spring, so there's plenty of time for a spot to open up. Best of luck, and try to stay optimistic!

I just wanted to throw my numbers up, I know this thread was very helpful to me while going through the application process. If you are like me and came to the realization that you want to be a PT after undergrad don't trip! I worked my butt off and it all came together, you can do it too.

Congrats on all those acceptances! That's awesome. Looks like you had a great application cycle. I applied to a lot of the same schools and have a couple questions if you don't mind my asking... When did you apply to Azusa Pacific and was it for Feb 2014 or 2015? Also, when did you interview/decline the offers at WesternU and Chapman?
