Man I really am sorry for you. See my above post for lots of information, but it doesn't necessarily all apply to you as your situation is pretty different.

Your grades are solidly above average and your GRE scores are average at worst. You're observation hours also seem thorough. I honestly can't tell from just your stats what the issue is. Although I will say I get the impression that the Washington schools really are quite competitive, so it may just be bad luck. 0 for 3 really is surprising though.

Have you had interviews at all three schools?

As the admissions cycle goes on and I continue to follow this thread, I am becoming increasingly suspicious that this is the case... :lame:

In reality they each have things they are looking for...they want people they feel are a good "fit" for their program...but how does each different ADCOM come up with their decisions? Well how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop? The world may never know...

Unfortunately they do not interview; their decisions are made completely off the applications. As I said before, I do not get it. The theory of bingo balls could definitely be applied to my case. Just soooooo frustrating!

I wanted to thank you all for the positive feedback and critiques! I'll do my best to improve my application with the suggestions in mind. I feel relieved and glad that I posted in this thread. Thanks again!

I would have never in a million years have thought I might not be attending PT school in the fall....just devastating. I would have thought I would be a shoe-in for sure at one of the schools in WA. None of the programs will let me inquire until at least April. I must have rubbed some people the wrong way in my application or something, as there is a common theme here....I thought my essays were great as I spent DAYS on them and my letters of rec were great. I just do not know, very, very discouraging to have worked this hard and it may not work out. I just don't get it.
I don't get it either. You're stats are great and you have earned a seat in PT school. Schedule a tour for EWU. Since there are not any interviews you can let them meet you and by taking a tour you'll be showing them you're seriously interested in THEIR school. They will inevitably select someone from the wait list. Get a leg up on the others. I'll bet you that you'll get accepted then.

Sorry to hear about this. As a WA resident who also graduated from EWU, I know how competitive WA programs can me. I applied to 13 programs 2 years ago and was accepted into 6, waitlisted to 4, and rejected by 3 (EWU, UPS, UW). I thought I had a chance at EWU since my last 90 credits was a 3.99 GPA and I had a letter of rec from Wendy herself (who you should know if you were exercise science from EWU). I knew WA was competitive, so I played it safe and applied to other regions.

The WA schools are just tough. I'm a WA resident as well, graduated from UW, and have pretty good stats. So far I've been rejected outright from UW and UPS, but had good luck so far out of state, which seems totally counterintuitive. It's hard to feel like your state doesn't want you, especially if there is no clear weakness in your application. I do think that with there being so many qualified applicants and only 119 seats total in Washington (45 for UW, 38 for EWU, and 36 for UPS), it really ends up being a crap shoot who is accepted and who is not and is not a personal reflection on you. And UW and EWU do not favor instate applicants like other state programs do, which makes it even harder.

Well not too surprised bout UW as it is a very competitive program. It looks like I'm 100% committed to UNE, as I don't plan on finishing the last pre-req I need for USC and have no interest in attending Seton Hall. The only school I'm waiting back on at this point is URI, but I'm not sure if I would pick it over UNE.

Also, for those looking for schools that don't care about the GRE, I would highly suggest Nazareth in Rochester, NY. They expanded their class size from 16 to 51 and were very interested in interviewing me. It seems that they place a high emphasis on GPA.

I'm not too surprised as they only accept 32 students for their cohort. But I was really hoping to be 1 of the first 32 students they sent acceptances to. Upper Half of the wait list isn't too bad considering. Still, it's not a full acceptance though. *sighs*

I see you're on Novas wait list. I'm not sure if I told you this or not: If possible schedule a tour of the program ASAP. They don't do interviews so you can get a leg up on the competition by showing them that you're interested in THEIR school. Every school takes students from the wait list so you may be able to move straight to the front of the line by seizing the initiative. I personally think you'd end up getting in if you did that. I'm pulling for you🙂

It was all late notice so I took my CSCS exam and had to rush to interview in San Marcos (7 hour drive), then drive back home for work the next day. I can't believe this at all. I had next year's plan all laid out to reapply and this happens. There is hope out there if you really stick to it and love what you do. Thank you for those who offered advice, and those who messaged me for support and encouragement. This forum is great! I am so ready to put my all into PT school and this wonderful profession!!!!!!!

As a WA resident who also graduated from EWU, I know how competitive WA programs can me. I applied to 13 programs 2 years ago and was accepted into 6, waitlisted to 4, and rejected by 3 (EWU, UPS, UW).

These Washington schools not giving preference to in-state students sucks big time for you guys 👎

Getting accepted to 6 schools out-of-state and getting rejected by all 3 in-state, 2 of which are public... :smack:

@PT34 the several other people that have commented since you about getting rejected from all the Washington schools is making me think you really did just have bad luck...

There are a few schools out there that you could still send an application to...they probably all had "soft" deadlines in January or something but some don't officially close their application until March...Franklin Pierce is one that I applied to that I know does this I guess for another $120-160 bucks to PTCAS you could send out an app to 3 or 4 schools and just see what happens...your chances would be very low at this point but it's worth a shot if it prevents you from waiting another year...you would probably end up going to a more expensive school though...idk just an idea...

Although if you want to be persistant and try to stay in state by reapplying next year, that's another path to take...obviously if you wait til next year for another shot at the Washington schools apply to several out-of-state as well...with your stats I guarantee you won't have a problem getting an acceptance if you apply more strategically.

Still, I'm shocked you didn't get into any of the 3 this year...let's hold out hope for that EWU waitlist.

Listen to this advice and see if you can still apply to other programs. I in fact did choose to attend Franklin Pierce 2 years ago and I don't regret my choice at all. FPU is an excellent program if you are interested in outpatient orthopedics, especially since the state of AZ has no restrictions on spinal manipulations, unlike WA which is one of 2 states that don't allow this technique under the states' scope of practice for PTs. (WA is attempting to change this law, but they are a long ways away). That's the one huge down side of attending a program in WA. The only negative side to FPU is the steep tuition of 9K a term for 10 terms, but I like the emphasis that this program has on manual therapy techniques.

While I still haven't heard from a few of the places that I have applied to, I am feeling pretty good about attending Chapman. Northeastern was actually my first choice, but then I learned more about Chapman's program. Also, the Northeastern program starts in Jan 2016. I would much rather start in the fall then in the spring. And I will most probably be declining my interview to UNE, so maybe other people who have applied there will have a chance for an interview. 🙂 Good Luck everyone!

When did you get your acceptance from George Fox? I interviewed there on the 20th and find it pretty surprising that they'd already accepted applicants while they were still in the interview process.

That's actually the norm with most programs. That's why it's highly recommended to apply EARLY. I think everyone who has been through this process would tell you the same thing. Your stats are awesome though.

I've definitely heard of this happening at programs that interview students over the course of several weeks or months, but I was a little surprised since George Fox interviews everyone over two back-to-back weekends. I guess I should stop being surprised at the admissions process by now, haha.

Depends if the school does rolling admissions or not.

FINAL UPDATE: I wanted to thank this community for providing sanity in this long haul of an application process. Pitt had always been my dream school, but crunching the numbers I just couldn't justify the extra cost compared to UC's program. ...any words of encouragement that I made the right choice in saving myself 60k in tuition would be greatly appreciated!

You saved yourself $60,000 dollars that probably would have ended up being closer to $90,000 by the time you paid it all back with interest.

There. Maybe seeing it with some more zeros will encourage you. 😀

Knew I could count on you knj27 🙂 and yes seeing that $90,000 has got me thinking this was definitely the way to go. That's like, 4 new cars :greedy:

From what I can tell, it seems like interviewees from both weekends will receive regular admissions decisions at the same time (I don't think that the first weekend receives decisions before the second); they may have just reached out to a couple of people for early notification of an acceptance. So I'd say your chances are still good to hear good news back soon!

At the end of the day no employer cares what school you went to. A DPT is a DPT period. You just get your degree much cheaper. Picking UC just shows you have common sense and know the value of a dollar.

Congratulations! It sounds like you made a good decision! Im sure once you're there and within the next few years you won't even think about Pitt! Congrats 🙂

Has anyone heard from University of St Augustine Florida campus yet for Fall 2015?

From what I can tell, it seems like interviewees from both weekends will receive regular admissions decisions at the same time (I don't think that the first weekend receives decisions before the second); they may have just reached out to a couple of people for early notification of an acceptance. So I'd say your chances are still good to hear good news back soon!

Thanks! I hope it'll be good news. And congratulations on your acceptance!

Has anyone heard anything from VCU?
I have not heard anything. I emailed Ms. Kendrick today to see if applications are still being reviewed, but have not heard back as of yet. I will message you if she responds.

I got my rejection letter from VCU yesterday in the mail
