I am as well. Two of my schools have sent me confirmation emails saying they have received my complete application but my mailing status still says pending on PTCAS.

One of my schools has sent me an email confirmation as well. I'm just not sure if I should be concerned or not that my application hasn't "officially" been mailed.

10 elementary school
May I ask how you went about observing at a school? I really wanted a peds setting, but had no idea how to go about it. I didn't even know that schools had staff PTs!

One of my friend's mothers is a teacher at an elementary school and she connected me with the physical therapist. All public schools should have a physical therapist as far as I know. Maybe if you contact the schools individually or the district office they could point you in the right direction? The one that I observed travelled to different schools within the district as well. You should also check out if there are any outpatient pediatric clinics near you. I'm shadowing in one right now and it's been really interesting!

Thanks for the insight! May I ask which campus you're applying to? From what I could tell, the campuses are not rolling admissions, so they would not evaluate applications until after their January deadline, is this correct?

For me, it seems like another potential problem will be that Franklin Pierce (and many other schools) explicitly require one LoR from a professor. I have been waiting on my chemistry professor to write one since August.. Already have 1 from a PT and 1 from a Pre-PT advisor. Hopefully he pulls through.
I applied last year. I was accepted to both campuses, but I didn't attend. That is true, they don't review your application until January or a later.

This is a question for those who have gone already been accepted recently or years ago. I'm starting to worry a bit as my application was received and completed about a week and half ago. Some people have told me emailing the admissions contact and putting a face to my application makes a big differences. I know some schools have rolling admissions....and well, I'm starting to worry that my application is not strong enough. How do you keep mental peace? I am finding it hard to stay motivated for my current classes...just because I feel like my stats are just mediocre.

Any advice is strongly welcomed! Thank you!

Your stats are not mediocre, at least not your GPA. Your GRE could give you problems if you are applying to schools where you don't meet the cutoff, even if it is one point off as you mentioned in an earlier post. However, you are non-trad and your overall application is probably stronger than you think. If you've done your hw and applied to schools where you fit their requirements and their range of GPA/gre acceptances, don't worry. There is not much else you can do at this point. You've sent off your applications and the rest is out of your hands. So don't despair when the programs have not given you any indication of your rejection.

Hey guys! So I submitted my PTCAS application and all of the materials have been processed and/or delivered. The only thing I'm waiting on is my GPA to be calculated. One of the schools I applied to, Nova Southeastern, said that they will email me with their supplemental application instructions and information once they receive my PTCAS application. I received an email from them stating that they successfully received my GRE scores, but nothing about PTCAS; I'm assuming this is because my GPA isn't calculated yet so it hasn't been fully processed.

I just wanted to make sure that I am indeed not able to access NSU's supplemental app yet; if somehow I can, I want complete it ASAP so I can get it over with! I am freaking out a little about the short amount of time I have left before everything is due, and since NSU has a rolling admissions process and students are already getting accepted, I want to get everything in ASAP.

Also, how much longer until my GPA is calculated do you guys think? PTCAS received my transcripts on September 2nd, and all other materials were in as of the 16th.

Thanks for all the help! And good luck to everyone applying 🙂

I'm in the same position you are! I got an email from NOVA too regarding my GRE about 2 weeks ago now. I completed my app 9/1 and my GPA still isn't processed! I know that NOVA has started to accept applicants so I'm just as worried with PTCAS taking longer than usual. As soon as mine is calculated I will give you a heads up

I am also in the same boat. I was just down at Nova last Friday for an open house and they said once PTCAS verifies the application and sends it off to your designated programs, they will then e-mail the supplemental app.

I asked a current first year about the supplemental and she told me there were about 6 (short) essays.

I submitted on 9/9 and they received my last transcript on 9/16 so I am also anxious for my application to be verified.

I saw on Twitter earlier today that applications are high in volume at this time and they told someone who submitted 3 weeks ago it could be another 2+ weeks 🙁

Hello!
just fyi..I submitted on 8/31 and I was verified today. I sent transcripts well before I e-submitted

Major: Biology
Overall GPA: 3.51
Pre-Req GPA: 3.31
GRE: 145 V 149 Q 4.5 AW
Extra Curricular: Officer for Tri Beta Biology Honors Club, Little Brothers of the Elderly Volunteer, Alexian Brothers Medical Center Volunteer, Maryville Children's Healthcare Center Volunteer, MESA, LASO, Cadaver lab
Observation: 1500 hrs in skilled nursing home facilities (I have been a rehab aide for 4 years in SNF setting), 300 hrs in outpatient neurological rehab, 40 in outpatient ortho, 20 in acute care
Applied: Midwestern - Downers Grove ED (submitted 8/16)
Interviews: Midwestern 9/17
Acceptances: Midwestern DG

This was my second time applying, I am so glad it worked out specially since Midwestern was my first choice. Definitely did not want to take GREs again!

Ugh it's just so frustrating because it was one of my top school choices! Thanks for the heads up though. I'll give you a heads up as well! Good luck!

That's so annoying!! I totally understand that applications are high volume, it's just annoying cause I finished everything on PTCAS in August, I was just waiting on my PT's to submit my reference letters and verify my volunteer hours, but they took forever! So that's why it was pushed off until September 14th. It sucks that has to be the reason my top school may or may not accept me. Thanks for the help, and good luck with Nova and your other schools!

I esubmitted on 8/14 with my final transcript arriving 8/31. My GPAs were calculated on Monday. It took about 3 weeks for mine. I called a week prior and they told me that they had an high volume of applications so it is taking longer than 2 weeks to calculate GPAs but if you ask, they can tell you what day of submission apps they are currently working on calculating GPAs.

Just got my gpa calculated this morning! Yours should be done by Friday at the latest! 🙂

Finally got verified by PTCAS..

uGPA: 3.12
cGPA: 3.15
pGPA: 3.05
GRE: 157 Q, 157 V, 4.0 AW (best scores in 2 tests)
Degree: BA in History with minor in Biology
Xtra's: D1 student-athlete, various community volunteer groups including Habitat for Humanity, volunteer youth athletics coach, board member for Holocaust survivors memorial group (I'm a 3rd generation survivor), worked part time jobs at golf course and music museum. Other stuff as well.
PT hours: observation = about 45 inpatient, 35 outpatient; pt aide = about 200 outpatient (I've seen Ortho, peds, neuro, amputee, and aquatic)
Applied: Georgia Regents University (first choice), Mercer University, Armstrong Atlantic University, University of North Georgia, Univesity of South Carolina

I'll stay updated on what I hear back. I know my GPA's are low but a competitive GRE score should help me get an interview where I can showcase my motivation, attitude, and personable abilities to prove I'm a good candidate for acceptance. I also had a very positive upward trend in my grades (especially last 60) but some schools don't even look at that. Incredible to speak with admissions counselors at different schools and see how they are all different in how they evaluate a student. Good luck to all!
UPDATE!
Just got an invitation to interview at Augusta University (recently Georgia Regents Univesity) for October 23. Pretty excited considering its my first one! If anyone else has an interview this day or have been to one in the last couple weeks let me know id love to ask some questions!

I have a question. If you are a Kinesiology major, Is your Movement Science category included into your science GPA?

What all courses go towards your pre-req GPA?

What all courses go towards your pre-req GPA?

It probably depends on the program's listed Pre-reqs, and then you calculate the GPA for those pre-req classes, so each program's Pre-Req GPA will be slightly different.

I have spent some time reading on this forum as well as talking to my physical therapist colleagues at work about what schools to apply to, and to be completely honest with myself, I know I am not a strong applicant. As you can see, TUN is one of my top schools because of current location. In reality, if I could get into any of these schools this current cycle, I would be a happy man. What do you guys think are my chances? :xf:

Thanks! I submitted 7/14 and it took about 2 weeks to hear back. Their next interview day is next month I think! I only heard so early because I was applied early and they just went ahead and considered me because of my stats!

Thanks for the info. I just got an email form them that they received my application a couple of days ago, I'm hoping to get an interview next month! I have very similar stats to yours (a little lower Q GRE) but hopefully close enough!

Science GPA: (waiting for PTCAS)
GRE: 152V 146Q 4.5 AWA / 153V 150Q 4.0 AWA

GRE scores are low since I only had a couple of days to study both times because I've been completing pre-reqs during summer and the first time I took it was over spring break, while studying for midterms.

Extra-Curric: Filipino Club member, Kiwanis Family Chair and President for a Circle K International (community service club), Pre-PT Club, Pre-Health Fraternity Founding Class (member, officer for a bit), Origami Club, Contributor to university newspaper, Anatomy and Physiology coach for Science Olympiad

Work: Student-athlete tutor and previously a student caller/student representative for university admissions events

Certifications: CPR/AED (and will take NSCA’s CSCS certification in the spring)

Observation Hours: 25 hours acute (general orthopedics, cardiovascular/pulmonary, geriatrics), 37 hours skilled nursing facility (geriatrics), 38 hours hours outpatient [planning on observing in a different setting/working as a PT aide during my semester off]

Applying: NYU, Duke, Boston University, Sac State, Drexel, WashU, UOP

My stats aren’t great because of my first two years due to circumstances which I stated in my background info/essays (science GPA definitely does not look good because of bios and chess, but received an A in both physics course - took an elective physics course which I received an A- in but I’m not sure if it will be included in my overall science GPA since it’s not a requirement). Not including sciences, I never received less than a B- and have mostly A/A- on my transcript. There’s also an upward trend with my science grades. I still have Physiology and Anatomy this semester, hoping they will help boost my science GPA. After that I’m done with prereqs. Also taking Kinesiology and upper div Exercise Physiology, which are prereqs for some schools (Sac State and Duke).

Just e-submitted 9/21 and everything was in before then. Now I’m just anxiously waiting for my GPA to be calculated by PTCAS. Since there are deadlines coming up on October 1st, I’m thinking that I won’t get my grades calculated until mid-October if it takes 4 weeks to calculate due to the high number of apps at this time. How will that affect my chances?

@akina17

Those deadlines are PTCAS deadlines. As long as you've e-submitted before then, you've met the deadline.

*Question*: When a school accepts/rejects me, how exactly do I find out? Do I receive a notification from PTCAS, an email from the school itself, a letter in the mail, a phone call? I want to know if I should be actively checking any accounts I have either on any supplemental apps or PTCAS itself, or if I will be notified without having to check anything. Thanks!

P.S. Best of luck to everyone applying!! 🙂

it's different for every school. But I feel like most are letters in the mail. do keep checking our email for your supps.

UPDATE: GPA has been calculated and my final PTCAS apps are officially submitted 🙂 just finishing up some supplemental apps then I'm done!

When did you e-submit?

My GPA has not been calculated (I submitted 9/21), but I got an e-mail today from Sac State saying they've received my application. I thought that materials don't get mailed out until after the calculation of GPA... Is anyone familiar with Sac State's process or know how long they take to review your application?

Hmmm... Still waiting for mine submitted on 9/10. I thought they would be processing them in order.

As far as I know, PTCAS will mail them to schools before they are verified but the schools won't actually look at them until the GPAs are done. At least that is how it's been for me!

Does anyone know if it would take longer if you have multiple transcripts?
