I'm worried about having these classes outstanding when my application will be in review, but it is what it is :xf:

When you guys state your pre req GPA on here? Is it what PTCAS calculated for you? Or is it a rough estimate based on the general pre reqs? If so, are you guys only taking highest grade into consideration or averaging?

Sorry for so many questions @_@ I was just unsure because my pGPA could be hugely different depending on if it's the highest grade only or averaging all retakes.

Yes we will be! I just called UNG back today, turns out they won't reschedule me (said she could put a note by my name but doubts there will be more interviews). I had a feeling they would fill mostly from ED (I submitted my app in mid July), a little disappointing but obviously I can't reschedule GRU for an alternate interview so thats how life goes.
I agree, it's disappointing. So hopefully one of our other choices will work out! What is your first choice?

My preference is to be in ATL, so GA state is my top choice (best price point), then Mercer, then probably GRU. You?

Hi all,

I'd say it depends on where you're applying, a lot of schools have a minimum GRE score which is 150 in each section or a combined 300 (which you would fail to meet and would exclude you). GPA is good. Pre-req gpa is roughly...?

Curious why you are reapplying when you were accepted last year.

I wish not to disclose the reason to my reapplication, but you can say it was mainly financial. I have retaken the gre, but choked in the last minute, I am not usually person that does bad on test. It was this specific exam that I just can't seem to get use to. My pre req gpa was roughly 3.6

A few of the schools haven't acknowledged receipt of application, but most have. A lot of these only send out offers in late fall/early winter. Just added the last two to app. Should I apply to a few more?

I applied to Mayo too! My app is still getting processed though. :'( had to resubmit because of an error. How long after you e submit did they offer you an interview? 🙂 Maybe we will have the same interview date!

Mine took longer because I had to get a professional/academic reference, so it was delayed by like three weeks. Once they got both of those, they offered me one after like 5 days.

Do you typically get a response from schools once you designate them and PTCAS has verified? My GPAs were calculated on the 11th... Is that the "verification"?

I'm slightly confused about all of these interviews happening so early--do these colleges just have rolling admissions processes, or are they early admissions or what? The places I applied don't have deadlines until October 1 and November 15...my app isn't even processed by PTCAS yet. I submitted at the beginning of the month but it took them forever to get things verified. Will I be ok? I never thought I'd be stressed out having submitted my application ONLY one month early! Is the deadline the date I have to submit to PTCAS or the deadline that PTCAS has to review/verify all my stuff? In which case, the technical "deadline" would've been sometime in August.

Just an announcement to those who have applied/are applying to GRU:

Restheo, I think some are ED and some are rolling admissions. Before the PTCAS application portal opened, I researched the schools and most of them have rolling admissions, at least for the ones I am applying to. The schools with rolling admissions begin reviewing the applications as early as late July/August. The slots start to fill up, so by the time the actual deadline hits, a lot of interviews may already take place and admissions given. That said, I think you will be okay. The deadline is when PTCAS has to receive everything from you. From there, it may take longer to verify but as long as you submitted to PTCAS on time you should be okay.

Hey guys! Good luck to everyone applying this year!

I have a question about how long it takes PTCAS to calculate your GPAs? I know it says up to 5 weeks on the website but how long did it take for most of you?! I'm currently waiting for mine to be processed!

I e submitted August 27th and it took 2 weeks to verify. However, I think the volume of Esubmits were lower then than now. So, it might take PTCAS longer to get to you. Not sure!

Interesting. I wonder why the change. Any insight?
There was widespread disapproval of the name Georgia Regents University since it was adopted 3 years ago. I believe the main reason the new president pushed to change the name to include "Augusta" was to improve partnership with the community, which will return funding that was lost when it was GRU.

I don't think your masters degree in athletic training will help you very much with admissions. Even though you have a master's degree, it doesn't help cover up the fact that your GPAs and GRE scores are low. I guess it depends on where you applied if you will get accepted or not.

Anyone apply to U Washington? They've had my application for a month now and are so quiet. I got an intitial confirmation email, but when I emailed a question to admissions I've had no response...

Second year applying after making a last second attempt last year to 4 schools (got wait-listed at one). The psychological toll of being rejected and going through the process was ROUGH but it made me a better applicant for this cycle. I did a lot of research and visited a lot of schools and couldn't be more thrilled to attend DMU.

My unsolicited advice to applicants is to really research the schools you are applying to and start a dialogue with them. People often ask on this forum what their chances are. Well, every school is different. GPA's are the most important part of your application, but they are just a part of the whole. Schools weight GRE scores, shadowing experience, extra curricular activity and specific GPA's (science, last 60, etc.) differently. Talk to schools and see how they evaluate applicants on each criteria and find a school that best fits your application.

For schools that don't interview, make sure you visit them. You will never get a complete understanding of a school by looking through their website.

(last piece of unsolicited advice coming)
This site is great. It's been a lot of help for me to read about the journey of other students, the experience of current PT students, and the opinions of current PTs on various issues. However, for pre-PT students this forum must be SUPPLEMENTAL in your research of evaluating yourself as an applicant or understanding the PT field. Use this site as a tool, but don't solely rely on it for your pre-PT info.

Nova was very responsive through the process. About a week (maybe less) after submitting my application they called to let me know they received everyone and to ask if I had any questions. Then about a week and a half- two weeks later I got the acceptance offer!

Hope that's helpful 🙂

uGPA: 3.12
cGPA: 3.15
pGPA: 3.05
GRE: 157 Q, 157 V, 4.0 AW (best scores in 2 tests)
Degree: BA in History with minor in Biology
Xtra's: D1 student-athlete, various community volunteer groups including Habitat for Humanity, volunteer youth athletics coach, board member for Holocaust survivors memorial group (I'm a 3rd generation survivor), worked part time jobs at golf course and music museum. Other stuff as well.
PT hours: observation = about 45 inpatient, 35 outpatient; pt aide = about 200 outpatient (I've seen Ortho, peds, neuro, amputee, and aquatic)
Applied: Georgia Regents University (first choice), Mercer University, Armstrong Atlantic University, University of North Georgia, Univesity of South Carolina

I'll stay updated on what I hear back. I know my GPA's are low but a competitive GRE score should help me get an interview where I can showcase my motivation, attitude, and personable abilities to prove I'm a good candidate for acceptance. I also had a very positive upward trend in my grades (especially last 60) but some schools don't even look at that. Incredible to speak with admissions counselors at different schools and see how they are all different in how they evaluate a student. Good luck to all!

You have a chance at Lynchburg with those GRE scores. Your GPA is on the low side, but your GRE should make it up. Lynchburg is a fairly new program which is getting more and more competitive every year.

I haven’t been successful raising my Quantitative Score, and I’m extremely nervous about that part of my application. Otherwise, I feel that I have a reasonable chance.

Comments/suggestions definitely welcome!

I applied to Franklin Pierce, with your stats you should get in granted if your GRE scores are average. Problem is you will have to wait since it takes them a while to send out letters.

Thanks for the insight! May I ask which campus you're applying to? From what I could tell, the campuses are not rolling admissions, so they would not evaluate applications until after their January deadline, is this correct?

For me, it seems like another potential problem will be that Franklin Pierce (and many other schools) explicitly require one LoR from a professor. I have been waiting on my chemistry professor to write one since August.. Already have 1 from a PT and 1 from a Pre-PT advisor. Hopefully he pulls through.

E-submitted on 8/18, last transcript arrived 8/24, verified 9/9. Still waiting for them to mail out my application. I called PTCAS and they said that if it wasn't sent out on 9/11, which I'm assuming it didn't since my mailing status still says pending, that it would be mailed out on 9/18. I'm getting a little worried that the mailing status hasn't changed yet, especially since some of the schools that I'm applying to have rolling admissions. Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation?

Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

I am as well. Two of my schools have sent me confirmation emails saying they have received my complete application but my mailing status still says pending on PTCAS.
