IUPUI requires a 3.2 undergrad and pre-req GPA which is probably why you were rejected. GVS also requires a 3.2 undergrad/pre-req GPA. I would make sure that the other schools you're applying to don't have a 3.0 minimum cut off... Most schools have a 3.0 minimum with both, and won't consider your application if you are below this. Did you already pay for all of your designations?

Because your pre-req GPA is a 2.9, I would highly recommend looking at schools with a 2.50-2.90 required pre-req GPA, there are a number of programs that fall into this category. PTCAS directory has all the information you need. Also look at non-PTCAS schools. I assume you want to stay near Indiana. Trine University is a non-PTCAS school in Angola, IN which only requires a 3.0 undergrad GPA. If you are up to relocating University of Saint Augustine is also a good non-PTCAS option.

If you can, I would retake one or two of your pre-reqs to get your PTCAS pre-req GPA to a 3.0 to open a wider range of options. Good luck!

I've been lurking on SDN for quite some time and have found this thread helpful for the application process, so just wanted to add to the conversation. Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

Hi,

I also got the invite for the GWU interview session on 11/11 and will be attending. Do you know anything about how they do their interview process? In some places I heard they do just 1 one-on-one interview but in the past they have done mini interviews with several stations of people. Also, what time is your interview session?

It sounds like you may know more than I do about the interview process! In the email, it mentioned group and one-on-one activities. Guessing that you have that correct about the mini group interviews. Looks like everything starts at 12:30pm.

I got the exact same email too. I know they take a lot of early admissions; I had 4 friends get in after they interviewed in September, so spots might be limited. Hopefully I'll see you there in December.

Reached out to a school today that told me i would hear from them in about a week or so after i submitted my application, which was on october 6. Apparently, the items pending in my file are the physics course i am currently in and the physics course i will take next semester. the admissions woman told me that i can email her as soon as i know what my grades are but that an updated transcript will be needed and made it seem as though this will keep my application from being completed. The deadline to apply to this program is dec 1 but i dont finish finals until dec 17 so i wont have my grade until a few weeks after dec 1......It seems hard to believe that my application wont even be looked at because i havent finished all of my prereqs yet and that i can possibly be the only student who has not completed all prereqs.....i am probably freaking out for no reason but if there is anyone who would like to share an uplifting story to make me think i didnt just waste all the time energy and money applying to these programs, would be much appreciated! 🙂

Seems very odd, most programs simply want all pre-reqs done prior to matriculation, and most schools use the fall grade update to receive info on said pre-reqs.

Yea, same as what Kellerac stated before, many schools do not require your prereqs to be completed by the application deadline. The schools usually understand that many students are still finishing up classes, the deadline is just for supplemental application materials such as rec letters, hours, extra curriculars, and thus far completed transcripts. I believe this may just be a misunderstanding by the woman you spoke to or a misunderstanding on your part...but I have definitely never heard of a Texas school stating that all classes must be completed before you even apply. So I think you still have hope! Usually, you just have to submit the fall academic update in order to show schools that you have completed any outstanding prereqs left with good grades. With this being stated I do not think you have to already have completed the course. Many schools allow up to 15 hours of unfinished prerequisite course hours even after you apply, with the stipulation that you complete them before classes start (typically in the summer June 1st). Which school are you applying to if I may ask?

The school I'm talking about is Columbia. The website states that 14/17 pre reqs should be complete by the time of application and all i have left to do is physics 1 and 2. It says that biological sciences should be complete by the december deadline, but does physics fall under biological sciences?

I am not exactly sure in your situation. I would be inclined to believe that physics falls under the general "sciences" category; while Biology 1, Biology 2, Anatomy, and Physiology fall under the "biological sciences" category. However this is just my best guess, I think you may have to contact them again directly in order to get more precise answers for your question. Hang in there and best of luck! I know a lot of these small aspects of the application process can be stressful and draining...

Super pumped about getting in to my number 1 UConn! Don't Sleep on the essay and resume, I'm convinced that's what did it for me
I know this is from earlier this year but I have just started my application for UConn. Any tips you can give me about specifics for the essay would be greatly appreciated. I live in CT.

Where is your top choice?

Sorry I've been slacking on checking this. Honestly, I would be honored to attend any school, they're all great. But my top choices are (in no order) UNF, Nova Tampa, UM, and UF. ... just realized that's almost every school lol. I would say my top choice is UNF, this is my second time applying, and out of the 8-ish schools I applied to last year UNF was the only school that invited me to interview, so that means a lot in my book - that they would take the time to get to get to know me.

That person applied the previous year. Interviews aren't until end of Jan/beginning of Feb, so I imagine we'll be waiting to hear back about getting an interview for at least a couple more weeks, and likely until mid-late Dec. From these forums, it looks like last year's round of interview invites came out around Dec 22-23 for interviews in late Jan/early Feb.

I just got an email about being invited to their open house. Is this the same thing as an interview, or does everyone who applied get this?

I got that same email! I believe that MGH doesn't hold interviews. On PTCAS it says that only the qualified applicants get invited to the open house.

I just got that email too. Strange- did they stop doing interviews? Their webpage no longer has any information about interviews. Maybe they're doing the open house in lieu of interviews? Anyone know?

are you guys gonna go to it? It says it's not required, but I want to go to find out more about the program. Only thing is that I'm out of state and definitely don't want to make the trip more than once if they hold interviews at a later date.

I just emailed them to ask if they're also holding interviews or not. Coming from the other side of the country, I also only want to make one trip out. I'll let you know what they say...

Hi! I went to an MGH DPT info session a couple of months ago, and they did stop doing interviews. They said the interviews were not necessary in their selection process so they got rid of them. Doesn't make any sense to me. Anyhow, their open house is seen as kind of an interview now. They invite qualified applicants and evaluate you a little more on this day. Hope this helps!
