Hey! I don't have those numbers with me at the moment because Im on vacation but I'll call my dad and get that info for you. I didn't apply for the scholarship and it was 9,000.

Ok so I got in contact with my parents. Its a little unclear online how they bill it especially with summers being included in Year 1/2 and Summer 2 is half grad half undergrad. They asked us to go see the Financial aid office so I definitely will and ifI get information I will pass it along. So I made the math for the WORST case scenario, adding summers to my tuition and subtracting the scholarship by year.

Undergrad semester rate is currently $16,839
Year 1 Fall 17-Summer 18 = ~$50k. with scholar. $41K
Year 2 Fall 18-Spring 19 = ~ $50k with schoalr $41K
Summer 19 (2 undergrad credits at $1176/credit, not sure if scholar will cover) and 12 grad credits at 14K (can't find a flat rate but there might be one) = ~16k
Year 3 Fall 2019 (15) - Spring 2020 (13-17)= ~17.6 k + ~15k
Total worse case scenario, no bonds no grants, no extra scholarship or financial aid = ~$130k

FWIW I have heard that NYU tuition is more expensive than LIU and NYU is ~115k.
A friend that went to LIU ended up paying about 90k. So I'm really not sure.

As far as the program you can enter as a gradaute or a transfer without a degree, but you both start Year 1/2 as undergrad tuition which is nice and you get the BSOT. What drew me to the program were the faculty and the fact that they offer 4 LVI fieldworks, as well as their cadaver lab and that all the first years I talked to in February knew what they were talking about in regards to the field, I didn't get that at other schools.

I reached out to Holly about a tuition estimate and this is what she told me.

If they transfer about 70 credits over – you will be charged undergraduate tuition until you reach 128 credits – that will be approximately the 2nd semester of the 2nd year. After 128 you will be charged graduate tuition for the remainder. So about half of the 122 credits is undergraduate .

Hi for TJU were you on the waitlist for interviews? Because I was emailed that their program was full and they'd let me have an interview if there ended up being any openings

UGH WHAT. I didn't think so.... they had me sign up for an interview like the 2nd week of Feb... the only dates open were March 15th or like 3 days after the email they sent me which I couldn't get off work in time for. They did not tell me that the program was full.

I believe they are referring to CSU San Jose

I don't think so. CSU Sac and CSU Fresno are way different than San Jose State University (never heard anyone call it CSU San Jose, that's just not the school's name). CSU Sac is nowhere near SJSU either. And the person I quoted explicitly states "Sac" or "Sacramento" a few times.

When did CSU tell you about the incomplete app? And if you don't mind me asking, what was missing from your app? I think we are all a little nervous about the whole transcript thing.
Turns out I didn't put in a graduate school application in addition to OTCAS. A big slip-up, one that few people (except the crazy ones like me who applied to 13 programs) probably made.

My success in applications was completely unexpected on my end. I struggled a lot in undergrad - took more than 4 years to graduate, earned average grades, took a MLOA, had several Fs and countless withdrawals in classes in my majors - but I really succeeded when I started taking OT prereqs after earning my Bachelors. I also know for a fact that my recommendations were outstanding (one from a Wash U dean and another from a professor in Wash U's graduate OT program, as well as one from a working OT who was the director of rehab services at the SNF) and my GREs were above-average.

My recommendation to every low-GPA applicant is take your time, work hard to prove you're a better/more mature/more focused student than in the past, be open to going out of your state/city, do way more than required in every other area of your application, REALLY STUDY for the GRE, write compelling and thoughtful supplemental statements for any schools that allow it, and communicate regularly with admissions officers of programs you most want to attend. My top choice program - UIC - is, I suspect, the most competitive in admissions and more focused on numbers than schools that interview, but according to the school, my supplemental statement and outstanding recommendations had them consider me in a different light. Feel free to PM me if you think you might've been in a similar boat in undergrad and want insight.

Congrats to all who got in this year, and good luck to those applying in the future!
