I am hoping to apply to another couple of schools, but I dont want to be applying to schools I dont have a chance of getting into because of my low verbal GRE scores. I was looking at UWisconsin-Madison, anyone have any idea if my low test scores will make my chances of getting in really small?
Your GRE is actually really good! Rush only requires a 302 combined score, and you are way above that. Have you heard back from Midwestern yet? I sent in my application on August 17th, and I still have not heard anything yet about it and they said they would get back to people no matter what. Someone else from my college got an interview for there and they sent in their application after mine

I just got my application verified today and was wondering how long did it take from the time you verified till Nova contacted you about the video essay.
Hey! It was about a month. I submitted September 1st and heard on the 29th.

Hi everyone!
I'm currently in the process of applying to Occupational Therapy schools! I submitted my OTCAS application to Chatham, Slippery Rock, Shenandoah, Walsh and Ohio State! My OTCAS was verified a few weeks ago. I received an email from Chatham saying they are reviewing my application. I am also applying to Pitt, Gannon, Thomas Jefferson, and Virginia Commonwealth. I will be sending in Pitt's application soon for early admission.
Does anyone know how long it'll take to hear back from Chatham about an interview?
And can anyone give me some idea of the chance I have for getting in to any school?
Graduated from Duquesne University this past May with a degree in Psychology
Taking pre-requisites right now at community college. Got an A in A&P 1 and 2 this summer.
Cum GPA: 3.65
Pre-req GPA: I am still taking Human Growth and Development, Medical Term, and Physics (should get As in all 3) and have a current 3.85-3.9 pre-req GPA
Verbal GRE: 150
Quant GRE: 151
Writing GRE: 5.5
Volunteer Hours: 350 hours as an inpatient rehab aide (have 300 in progress/planned till May), 20 hours outpatient rehab, 8 hours outpatient/inpatient pediatrics OT, 140 hours volunteer hours at a hospital(patient interaction hours)
I'm very nervous since this is my first time applying. Hoping to stay in the Pittsburgh area with Pitt, Chatham and Slippery Rock being my top choices!
Thanks!

ALSO QUESTION: How long before interviews did anybody hear that they actually got the interview? For example, Belmont's interviews are taking place on November 10th and Boston's in mid December so i'm wondering if I'll get an answer about that soon? Or around when?

I just heard back from Belmont this morning for their Early Acceptance Interviews! I applied to Thomas Jefferson (rolling admission) in august and heard back from them a few weeks ago for October Interviews. It seems like most schools try to give you a few weeks to a month of notice.

I hope I'm a competitive applicant. I applied as early as I could (September/October) and would have applied earlier if I didn't have one summer class I needed to finish before applying. I didn't learn about OT until 2 years ago so since then I have been working on the pre-reqs and volunteering, so I don't have as many hours as some of you guys here. If I don't get in this time, I already have plans on what to do to improve my application, but any other tips would be appreciated. Good luck to you all!

I applied to Midwestern on in August of last year and I didn't hear back that I received an interview until April. So it honestly just depends on how their pool of students pans out. Hope this helps!

Hey Lexi64, do you mind me asking which campus you applied to at Midwestern? Was it AZ or IL? Thanks!

Anyone know how much tuition is for Midwestern Glendale campus for the whole program? It says 40,000 on the website but I wasn't sure if that was for one academic year or for the whole 2 year program!

Yes, I am! I called grad admissions today and they said my application is complete and has been sent to the director for review and admission decision. They said it'll be a couple weeks (SRU). I really like how SRU's program has a lot of opportunities for research! But I hope so about Chatham! Ugh, grad schools take forever :(

I am still looking at some ot programs! It is so so so hard to narrow down schools so I was hoping for some direction on schools that others have found interesting!
For those OT's out there how do my stats look?

Thanks for the response!
I'm just finishing up my WSSU application at the moment and focusing on the 300 word statement requirement.
What do you like about WSSU? Are there any community-based research projects that stick out to you?
I really like that we are exposed to field work in this first semester. Not a lot of programs do this and it's so interesting to learn the basics in class and get a direct exposure for reference. I also really like the community-focus that the university has. Our program has all of our level I fieldwork sites in Winston and they directly benefit the community. I have not been involved in any community-research opportunities yet because we do research second semester, but I'll let you know when I do! Message me privately if you have personal questions about it!

Hey Lexi64, do you mind me asking which campus you applied to at Midwestern? Was it AZ or IL? Thanks!

Midwestern in Illinois. Unfortunately I ended up being waitlisted last cycle. So now I have applied again for this upcoming cycle. Best of luck to you all!

If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA and amount of shadowing hours? Congrats on getting the interview, thats awesome :)

At the time, my GPA was 3.42 and my amount of shadowing hours were a little over 100 hours.

Yes, I am! I called grad admissions today and they said my application is complete and has been sent to the director for review and admission decision. They said it'll be a couple weeks (SRU). I really like how SRU's program has a lot of opportunities for research! But I hope so about Chatham! Ugh, grad schools take forever :(
My application was sent to the director for review too! At the open house they said they're not sending out acceptances until the December 2nd deadline...I hope we don't have to wait that long to hear back. But yeah I love Slippery Rock's program and how it's brand new! Keep my updated if you hear anything from either school!

Ive posted on here before but I decided to show my final stats now that I have actually applied to most of my schools. I am really nervous about my low cgpa and relatively low GRE scores. I'm really hoping I can get into at least one of these schools. Also, I am very open to relocating if anyone has ideas on other schools I may stand a chance of getting in at.

Regardless, I've given my best and would really love some feedback so shoot me your thoughts/opinions. Thanks!!

Mel27, thanks for your service and best of luck with getting into school. Your stats are incredible.

Is anyone else feeling a little worried that some people are already hearing back from schools when other's are still actively applying to schools! I feel like I dropped the ball on my apps and am too late to apply!

University: Tulane University
Major: Public health, Psychology
Overall GPA: 3.87 out of 4.0
Pre-Req GPA: 4.0 (some schools won't accept the online A&P course I took; currently in A&P at Tulane- probably won't get an A as it is much more intense)
GRE: 157 verbal (76th percentile), 157 quantitative (66th percentile), 5.0 analytical writing (93rd percentile)

Extra-Curric: resident advisor (RA) for 3 years now, work at the student gym (I am not overly involved on campus as being an RA for freshmen and also working part time is a lot), used to be on the Residence Hall Association freshmen year but I had to give that up in order to apply to be an RA.

Volunteer: 52 hours in an adult inpatient setting, 63 hours in a pediatric setting (half were spent in inpatient, half were spent in outpatient)

LORs: 1 from an OT I shadowed at the pediatric setting; 1 from my resident director (supervisor for my RA position), 1 from my psychology professor who lives in the dorm I'm an RA in, have taken 2 classes with her; 1 from department head of housing and residence life (I'm asking her for a rec for schools that don't require an OT to be a reference)

Awards: Distinguished Scholar Scholarship (merit scholarship to Tulane), resident advisor of the year 2016-2017, employee of the month (for my job at the rec center), Dean's List every semester

Applying to: Chatham University, University of Southern California, Rush University, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Puget Sound, University of Washington (Seattle), Boston University, Washington University in St. Louis, Tufts University, Temple University, University of Pittsburgh, Thomas Jefferson University, Columbia University, and New York University

Am I a competitive applicant? I'm worried I won't get into any of these schools; I haven't submitted my applications yet. I know that some schools recommend that you submit them early as they start admitting students before the deadline. Do I have a decent chance of getting into at least one school? Should I apply to more schools? Please help!

You definitely shouldn't be applying to any more schools, it would just be a waste of money. And your stats are a lot more competitive then most people, so I wouldn't worry about it too much

I applied mid September and they notified me October 3rd that I was denied due to my GPA not being competitive enough and retaking too many prereqs. I knew Brenau was a long shot for me because my prereq gpa was lower for their program than most programs I applied to.
