Hey I am a current OTD student but I went through the application process last year while finishing up my Masters of Public Health. If you have any questions, then I may be able to help!
I was just wondering how much do they take into consideration that you already have your masters? I had a considerable low GPA as an undergrad but I will be finishing up my masters in May. Also, did you get into most of the schools you applied to?

I can't speak to how much they take into consideration that I already have my masters but I do think it helped. Also, I gained OT specific research experience as my capstone for my masters and a LOR from an OT school director because of this. I think it probably varies how schools consider the masters degree. Also, I am the only student in my class that has a masters. I got in to all of the schools I applied to except Boston. Also, I didn't finish applications until mid-November and in hind sight wish I would have applied to places earlier.

I have a video interview with Boston University this week, and I'm nervous because I have no idea what they are like! What was yours like? Your stats look great, and congrats on getting your GRE up so much! That's incredible!
I am so sorry I am just now seeing this. Mine was a video essay. I had the opportunity to edit it and then I was required to post on youtube (as unlisted). They asked some pretty tough questions, but I had time to develop my responses before I answered. Best of luck to you as I know Boston University is a top school!!

Hi All! I've been watching this thread for awhile and now I'm excited to post my stats! I am the perfect example of how GPA/GRE SCORES ARE NOT EVERYTHING!

Undergraduate University: University of California, San Diego
Degree: Public Health, Minor: Cognitive Science
Cumulative Undergrad GPA: 3.08 (Did not take college seriously until I realized I wanted to go to grad school and by then it was too late lol)
OTCAS GPA: 3.13
Prerequisite GPA: 3.7-3.8
GRE: 148 V 151 Q 4 AW

Applying to: AT Still, Midwestern, Stanbridge, University of St. Augustine San Marcos, Loma Linda, Samuel Merritt, Chatham

Misc: Currently work as a Research Data Coordinator at a perinatology and pregnancy research center, Volunteered in Mexico with a OT/PT/SLP Triage throughout the year, ABA Therapist for 6 months, Worked in multiple research labs, Study abroad ambassador for the University of Sussex in England, Executive position for the Panhellenic Council at my university

Observation experience:
- 85 hours in peds from 3 different settings (this was all that was available that worked with my schedule)

Acceptances: AT Still (11/13) , St. Augustine (12/6)

Rejections:

Interviews: AT Still (11/3), St. Augustine (11/17), Samuel Merritt (1/13 Will be turning this down interview down)

Attending: University of St. Augustine!

This past year I've been working full time and finishing my last couple prerequisites (physio, physics, and developmental psych) as a full time student as well and I've never been more stressed lol but it's paid off!

To be honest, my stats are not impressive AT ALL and I did not I think I would even get interviews let alone get accepted anywhere this cycle. I even planned to retake the GRE thinking I would not get accepted. But I worked really hard on my personal statement and I killed my interviews because I knew I looked mediocre on paper. Again, YOUR STATS DO NOT DEFINE YOU AND NUMBERS ARE NOT EVERYTHING!

Has anyone heard from Usciences yet in the last few weeks? I know they're backed up on apps but the wait is killing me

What was St. Augustine's interview like if you don't mind sharing?

What was St. Augustine's interview like if you don't mind sharing?
The interview was really casual! I liked it because even though it was a group interview, it was very intimate, in a professor's office, and it just felt like we were having a conversation. It really felt more like a discussion than an interview and I often agreed a lot with my peers and didn't feel like I was competing against them.

Hello,
I just want to share my first interview experience with Texas Tech for their summer 2018 MOT program.
I finished applying to OTCAS on mid Aug. I got an interview offer on Oct. for Nov. 11. However, slots for the date have completely filled up the next day, so I was rescheduled for 12/08.
Tip 1: reply as soon as you can and within the day that you got the letter for the interview.
- Interview day
Part 1: Program overview and faculty introductions
Part 2: group activity
Part 3: Group A' s individual interview. After A is done Group B will be interviewed, while group A goes on a tour.
Part 4: Extra time to ask questions.

Tip 2: Day of interview. Showcase that you work well with a group. Have good reasons when explaining how your group work it all out.
Tip 3: Be confident in the individualized interview. Have some personal examples ready, and be free to put details as much as you can. Make sure you have a question ready for the professor just in case, such as about their research or the class that they teach. So, listen to their introduction.

Lastly: be yourself and enjoy the experience
Good luck future students!!!

Anyone heard from Brenau? It has been like 8 weeks since my interview... or anyone have any advice on if I should call or not?

I'm a bit nervous because I had one less year to work on improving my resume/earning more observation hours, but I'm hoping for the best! Realistically, I would love to go to OSU because I don't think I can afford to go out of state, but OSU's program is ridiculously competitive, so we'll see what happens!

Has anyone had an interview with Midwestern University in Arizona? Any insight on how it went?

Anyone heard from Brenau? It has been like 8 weeks since my interview... or anyone have any advice on if I should call or not?
Hey! I interviewed with Brenau for their Norcross hybrid program on November 13th (not sure when interviews started) but they told us we should know by Christmas or at least the new year. I have a friend that interviewed with them before I did and already got accepted. So we'll see.

Congrats! Did you guys get emails?
Thank you!! Yes we did, it was from "gpaadmissions" so be on the lookout for that. If you didn't receive one, then it doesn't mean you didn't get in. It might just mean they are waiting until the next interview session to admit the next group of kids. Good luck!

Hey! I am currently a senior at Slippery Rock and their OTD program looks like it's going to be awesome! I don't think you have much to worry about regarding your stats 🙂 I was also wondering about how long it takes to hear back form Chatham. My applications got verified on August 23rd. Good luck !!!
I just graduated from SRU this past May in healthcare administration! After experience in the healthcare field and observing the benefits of OT on my family members with Parkinsons disease I decided to pursue this path. I went back this fall to talk to the director and I agree it sounds like it is going to be awesome! I am so excited to hopefully return to SRU 🙂

Hey guys! I was wondering for those of you who have been accepted into midwestern AZ's program, did they offer you a scholarship? I have an interview in a month and was accepted to a few other schools which would cost less and I am considered giving up my spot if they don't offer scholarships!

Accepted to BU with a scholarship :')

Hi everyone!
I'm currently in the process of applying to Occupational Therapy schools! I submitted my OTCAS application to Chatham, Slippery Rock, Shenandoah, Walsh and Ohio State! My OTCAS was verified a few weeks ago. I received an email from Chatham saying they are reviewing my application. I am also applying to Pitt, Gannon, Thomas Jefferson, and Virginia Commonwealth. I will be sending in Pitt's application soon for early admission.
Does anyone know how long it'll take to hear back from Chatham about an interview?
And can anyone give me some idea of the chance I have for getting in to any school?
Graduated from Duquesne University this past May with a degree in Psychology
Taking pre-requisites right now at community college. Got an A in A&P 1 and 2 this summer.
Cum GPA: 3.65
Pre-req GPA: I am still taking Human Growth and Development, Medical Term, and Physics (should get As in all 3) and have a current 3.85-3.9 pre-req GPA
Verbal GRE: 150
Quant GRE: 151
Writing GRE: 5.5
Volunteer Hours: 350 hours as an inpatient rehab aide (have 300 in progress/planned till May), 20 hours outpatient rehab, 8 hours outpatient/inpatient pediatrics OT, 140 hours volunteer hours at a hospital(patient interaction hours)
I'm very nervous since this is my first time applying. Hoping to stay in the Pittsburgh area with Pitt, Chatham and Slippery Rock being my top choices!
Thanks!
UPDATE!
Got into Chatham today!

Any feedback helps!

Hi guys! Does anyone have any thoughts on my chances of getting into a program with my stats? Being that I was a business major, I am nervous. I know it gives me a diverse perspective, especially with so much experience in the industry and around therapists/clinicians but still... Seeing posts on these forums gives me hope but is also discouraging as some stats are just so much better than mine. My first semester at SRU was a disaster because I was going through family issues at home and my grades fell as result. I wish I had been aware of what resources were available for emotional support or aware of the option available to withdraw from the course that was going to poorly affect my GPA. I plan to apply to the programs this summer when the applications open. Praying for the best outcome! I've never been so determined to reach a goal in my life.

Anyways, does anyone have advice on applying to OT schools in general (OTCAS, personal statement, application boosters)? Anything is appreciated!
