It's frustrating being on waitlists - to know that you are good enough to knock at the med school's door; but only to stand outside, looking in, wondering if the door will ever open. Many of us can't help but to continuously look inside-we can smell the sweetness of getting in, we can taste it, we yearn to be able to spend hours in the anatomy lab, to be able to read BRS path, to cannibalize the USMLE first aid book, to spend countless hours and hours trying to ingest as much info as we can - fearing that a mere superficial understanding will be a disservice to our future patients.
I understand that patience is necessary, I understand that one must keep perspective of the bigger picture. However, it's frustrating when filling out AMCAS becomes part of your yearly routine - and all that you have to look forward to is doing it over again-only hoping, wondering - will that door open next time?
