Oops, sorry, Interview waiting list. I was unsure if all interview invites were sent and since I didn't receive an e-mail, I called them and found out I was on the waiting list. I would contact them directly to find out about your status. And HandD42, I'm feeling those blue mouse positive vibes going your way.....

I just called and they said there are a few people who are on an alternate list for interviews. I don't believe they sent out an email to any of the people on the waitlist/ alternate list. Well at least now I know, though it kind of takes the fun out of recieving an admissions letter when you know it can only be a rejection.

They framed it as "unfortunately you were not offered an interview". Gosh darn it! Although I do have an interview at Minnesota so I am not terribly disheartend, just dissapointed. But hopefully you are on that list!!

I called and was told i am "no longer in consideration" she said my letter was put in the mail yesterday so i would guess they will be arriving tomorrow.
 
I just called and I am also on the alternate list for an interview. She couldn't tell me where on that list I was... I suppose I should be happy it's not a rejection, but all this waiting and not knowing business is going to give me an ulcer.

Anyway... If you get accepted somewhere else amazing... And you just happen to cancel your tech interview, I'll be your new best friend!
 
Just called. I'm on the alternative list as well. I'm OOS. I asked how many people were on the list and she said 15...that's not so many! Keep your hopes up everyone!

I'm not sure. I wish I'd asked, but the question only occurred to me after I hung up 🙁
 
Joyce Massey just called and offered me an interview on Jan 30th. I am so excited! I had pretty much given up hope last night and this is such a great way to start my morning. Now I'm just nervous about this crazy situational interview.

Thanks to whoever cancelled their interview!!!

And good luck to the rest of you on the alternate list!

Thanks for the congrats. I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed for you guys! The list is now one shorter hopefully people will hear back from their dream schools and you all will get a chance to show vmrcvm what you've got. Goodness knows everyone on this site deserves it!

Rejection via snail mail today, OOS applicant! 🙁

I have 2 rejections in hand, and haven't heard a peep from Penn. It looks like I'll be applying next year. But- that's okay! It gives me time to work towards an obedience title with my future puppy this summer!

Penn is continuously sending out invitations. So far the pattern is an interview day every friday. Invites are out for Jan 22,29, feb 5, but i assume they will do another 1-2 days so they may still have Feb 12,19,26th invites not sent yet! This week was the week for Feb 5th invites. So they will probably still be 3 more weeks of invites if they continue you interviews through late Feb

So, maybe Eventual Eventer knows about this speed dating interview??? Is there any way to prepare since it seems to be an evaluation of our fight or flight reaction. One things for sure, I ain't flying!!!!
 
I don't think it's a fight-or-flight reaction thing any more than the other behavioral interview types. In fact, I'm less nervous about the MMI than a purely behavioral "tell us about a time..." interview. I feel like I have some background knowledge and certain principles that guide my response to any situation, whereas remembering past situations is tough! I guess I'm a forward-looking person. However, my understanding is that an MMI may contain traditional interview questions and behavioral interview questions as well as scenarios to act out or react to.

Thanks for the links and the explanation. I know how you feel about interviews involving remembering scenarios in which you exhibited such and such..😱 !!! I am actually excited for this nontraditional interview!!!!!😀

So rejection letters ALL went out three days ago?

Still nothing here. I guess if there's nothing tomorrow I'll have to call them. I'm kind of hoping there's nothing, anyway!

For any interviewees flying into Vatech...are you all just flying into the Roanoke airport? How do you plan to get to campus from there? (ugh, i'm so sick of planning out interview travels..already way behind on the semester)

Haha yes I am actually in state. I just go to undergrad in Ohio, so thats where I am at the moment..

My mailbox was empty as well, but maybe mail just takes a looong time to get to MN from VA????

I suppose I will call on Mon and confirm the (probable) rejection.
 
There is a shuttle that goes from the airport to The Inn @VT--it's about $30 dollars. I don't know how many runs it makes. Contact Roanoke Airport Transportation Services--email [email protected]

I know there are also some car rental companies, but I don't know much about them. It is also generally cheaper to fly into greensboro, which is quite a bit further away.

I dunno. NH usually gets mail from Florida in ~2 days, and it's been longer than that since letters supposedly went out.

Maybe you and I are on the waiting list and are just too pessimistic to think of anything but bad news?! Or maybe we are just so damn wonderful they're accepting us without an interview at all :laugh:

I will be flying into the Roanoke airport from Florida on Thursday, the 28th since my interview is Friday at noon. I was planning on renting a car, but might check out the shuttle service. Does anyone know the closest hotel to the vet school?

The closest hotel is the inn at virginia tech on the main campus. I made it to the vet school in <15 minutes walking in heels a few months ago. Otherwise, your best bet would be hawthorn sweets or maybe holiday inn--don't quite remember if that's the name. There really isn't anything super close to the vet school for walkers.

I also forgot about the smart way commuter bus that goes from roanoke to bburg, with stops on campus and at the airport. I think the fair is way cheaper, but it makes a lot of stops. They don't normally make Sunday runs either, but I think there is a way around that. No idea what that is, sorry. I've never ridden on either, so I can't say about the experience or the cost/benifit ratio of both.

So, I called three different schools, including VMR today to check up on transcripts/status and all that.

Only after not getting an answer at the third one did I realize, oh wait, it's a holiday. I tend to forget when I have to work a ten hour shift.

So I can rest easy about having no news today, and go back to worrying tomorrow. Come on, Virginia, just tell me something already!

I hear you. I work so many weekends and random weekdays that I have trouble remembering what day of the week it is and whether the rest of the world is working or not!
