I realize most schools require at least 6 credits (or 2 semesters) of english composition courses or literature. But I'm having trouble figuring out if the following courses I took fulfill the english requirement?

Introductory writing course - designated with the prefix WRT on my transcript, under the writing department.
Greek and Latin Literature - designated under the CLASSICS department at my undergrad.

many thanks!

I think both would. AADSAS provides a link that allows you to see what's what whenever you're entering coursework into the application. Try to find that!

That's outdated, but it'll give you an idea. They provide an updated version on the application itself. Look it up 🙂

I did but its under the CLASSICS dept which is non-science. But the class title and the course itself was 'literature' which falls under english. Anyway I put it as english. Wouldn't make too much of a difference I'm guessing?

Ouch. That's a dilemma. I'd say put it as whatever you want... But non-science would be more technically correct. They'll fix your mistakes after you submit anyway. Just don't mess up a lot or it'll put your app in jeopardy. Or so the ADEA says...

WRT should count, I don't know about classics because that's kind of along the line of history. Do you have AP English credit? Usually people have to have 6 credits of English for undergrad.

WR class should count. I only took one course in English department and the rest WR classes were in French department. I contacted all the schools I applied and it was ok. Although I had to provide the course description to the schools. The best thing is to ask the schools.

thanks guys! just called up columbia today and they accept classical literature for english credit!! a major sigh of relief. 🙂

I seriously thought my cycle was over before it even started.
