Hi I am a Canadian applicant planning to apply to MD programs in the states. From other sources, I heard that US schools may consider canadian applicants differently. So I am in need of help with creating a school list.

My MCAT scores puts me in an awkward position:
2016 MCAT: 520 (132 C/P, 125 CARS, 131 B/B, 132 P/S)
2017 MCAT: 518 (131 C/P, 126 CARS, 131 B/B, 130 P/S)

GPA: 4.0

ECs:
-Currently in gap year working as a medical assistant(>900hrs)
-health advocate & local committee member volunteering for a non-profit health organization
-Founder/head of a non-profit science organization 3 years
-president of an university recreational sports club
-6 years of hospital volunteering
-Major Admission Scholarship for research
-Won an undergrad science case competition
-5 summers of research experience both lab and clinical
-Orchestral Violinist of 7 years
-Pianist
-Varsity/Intercollegiate sports for 4 years
-Intercollegiate sports organization divisional director (2 years)
-ex provincial/national athlete
-Physician Shadowing/Observership (100hrs)

Potential School List so far:
Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Baylor College of Medicine -->Could be a reach due to CARS
Boston University School of Medicine
Case Western Reserve
Central Michigan
Chicago Rosalind Franklin
Columbia --> Could be a reach due to CARS
Duke
Emory
Geisel Dartmouth
George Washington Uni
Georgetown (might be low yield)
Harvard -->reach
Ichan School of Med at Mount Sinai
John Hopkins (Maybe....might be too far of a reach)
Mayo Clinic --> Low yield
Medical College of Wisconsin
New York Medical College
New York University School of Medicine --> probably a reach
Stony Brook
St. Louis Uni
SUNY upstate
Brown (may be low yield)
Pritzker UChicago (reach and low yield maybe)
University of Colorado School of Med
Maryland
Utah
Virginia School of Medicine
Vanderbilt (Not sure probably a reach)
Virginia Commonwealth
Washington U in St Louis (Reach, 127 CARS 10%)
Wayne State
Weill Cornell
Yale -->probably a major reach

This list is probably too long, but I really do not know which schools is worth a shot.

Thank you!

You could remove Baylor and Cornell since they matriculated no international students last year. Utah, Maryland, Colorado accept very few internationals and give preference to there own state residents. You should receive several interviews from the rest of your list.

Thank you! I will remove those from my list.

Also, do you think my 126 Cars would impact my application too much to some mid-top tier schools?

I do not think Harvard, Hopkins, Yale or NYU are too much of a reach for you, even as a Canadian. You not only have powerful stats but you also have good extracurricular activities, which is what they want.

As a Canadian with your stats, my best advice would be to apply to as many schools as you can afford -- high volume of application will likely yield a good number of interviews if you develop your application and essays well!
