Actually one of the supplemental PDFs does have breakdown of match by first choice, second choice, etc. I’ll post a link when I’m on my computer (on mobile right now).I'm not sure where you're getting that data. Charting Outcomes (which is available for main residency and MSMP) shows the probability of matching based on contiguous ranks, NOT likelihood of matching at a certain spot on your list.
Love to see it.Actually one of the supplemental PDFs does have breakdown of match by first choice, second choice, etc. I’ll post a link when I’m on my computer (on mobile right now).
Thinking about canceling Montefiore - what does everyone think about the program?
I know they are interviewingHas anyone gotten an interview from uc davis ?
I think 37.5 % last year.Does anyone see the data about the percentage of matching to your top choice (HemOnc)? I could only find the data on residency match.
Thank you so much. I found the information on page 20.I think 37.5 % last year.
That’s what it seems like not even rejectionsIt's been so quiet. Have programs stopped giving out invites entirely? September hasn't lived up to expectations
Kind of tough to try to help without knowing what is important for you (location, interests) and what alternatives you have.Thinking about canceling Montefiore - what does everyone think about the program?
Cool. Never used to have that data. Not sure why it's not in the "Charting Outcomes" data.
Nov 1st is the latest I’ve seen offeredAnyone has idea what is usually the last interviewing date in general? By the end of Oct?
No invites for 3 weeks but have been getting rejections 🙂It has been eerie silence for last 3 weeks. It's making me rethink about the narrative of getting interviews in September- none so far since 20th August. Wondering what's going on with programs. Seems like they are high on stellar applications 🙁
Having been on the interview trail a little already, I have only heard one or two people say that they are canceling interviews (even heard some say that they are going to all 20+ of the interviews they were invited to). If no one is cancelling then there are no spots opening. And therefore no “second wave”.
What that means however is that there might be a lot of spots open for the SOAP. Am I wrong in the thinking that?
Operative word here being "Competitive". Competitive programs are not usually the ones the people cancel interviews at either, so they are rarely in that proverbial second wave.I agree that there is no real second wave unless other people cancel their interviews. But I think it is unlikely for competitive fellowships to have many unfilled positions
I think there is none or a only a fee programs reviewing applications at this point. There are people prob on the waiting list just in case somebody cancel their interview. It has been a competitive season for heme onc compared to maybe 3-5 years ago that people are unlikely to cancel especially competitive places. The other chance is to have somebody internal ( current fellow/alimni/attending) just to ask to review your application again just in case you were screened out for some reason. I think this is especially true for competitive people coming from smaller programs.I agree that there is no real second wave unless other people cancel their interviews. I have heard on a couple of interviews that programs had more applications than usual this year. Some of them are interviewing many candidates per spot (like 20) and also have internal candidates that are essentially promised spots but I have no idea how these numbers compare to previous years. I haven't heard of anyone going on 20 interviews though, that sounds excessive.I think there is none or a only a fee programs reviewing applications at this point. For what it's worth, I've cancelled about 7 interviews. I may cancel 1-2 more. I'd guess most of the second wave of invitations has gone out
Why not, DO doesn’t prevent you from pursuing an academic career. I know DO graduates doing well at academic center.Any DO applicants here for heme/onc? Trying to figure out if I'd have a fighting chance for heme/onc, especially since most DO's don't end up at academic heavy institutions usually for residency (ex. Stanford, Yale, Cornell etc).
Then you'd be insane to cancel UMinn.Looking at canceling ---
Any thoughts on university of Minnesota vs henry ford (wayne state)?
Interested in malignant heme/ stem cell transplant.
