Does anyone know anything about home infusion residencies? Esp. the Option care residency? Ive heard good things but wanted to see if anyone has friends with experience or has heard anything about it via the grapevine?

Thanks!

They are new. They like to see that you took a home infusion rotation during P-4 year. That's all I know about them.

I know there is an Option-Care/Midwestern University residency in IL. You get teaching experience (lectures, workshop facilitating) along with the home infusion stuff.

Having a previous home infusion rotation is not a must, just an interest. A lot of these programs go unmatched because not a lot of students have an interest in home infusion.

To be honest, this is the first time I hear about home infusion residencies. On the other hand, I know quite a few people who got a job in home infusion right out of school or after working in a hospital for a couple years. Kind of makes me question the value of forgoing a year's worth of salary... but then again, I don't see a lot of special knowledge required to practice in that area that would warrant a year's worth of training, unlike in institutional clinical practice...
