I took a couple of honors courses while I studied abroad. However, on my US transcript (and surprisingly, the foreign transcript), there is no designation that the course is honors. Does that mean I cannot check off the "honors" box in AMCAS?

if it doesn't show as honors on the transcript I don't know if they'll accept it as honors on AMCAS.

can you get a hold of your school to have them correct the mistake?

That's a tough question. You should call AMCAS and see what they say. You're obviously going to have to prove they were honors classes. Maybe you could have the foreign school write a letter saying that the classes were indeed honors courses. I don't, however, think having the classes marked as honors or not will make or break your application so I wouldn't fret about it too much.
