How early is "early"?

Ok, this is driving me crazy...

Does anyone know if July is considered "early" to submit the app? They probably wont receive it until early August...

Im taking the DAT mid-july, they wont receive those scores until mid-august...and If they are not going to look at my app before my scores come in, is it worth it to try and rush the application?? ..

Relax. Just because you submit it early doesn't mean you are going to get in. Don't rush your application to the point where you are making errors on it, but do make an attempt to get in your application as soon as possible. Some schools look at your application even without a DAT score and then make a final decision after your scores come in.🙂

Yeah, don't rush, you really don't want to have any silly mistakes like typos, because that could really hurt your image. From an Adcom I've talked to: As long as you submit by August 1st, you're still early.

So far AADSAS has my app, LOR, transcript. I'm studying for the DAT & plan on taking it Aug. 4.

From reading this board, I know schools won't consider my app complete until they have DAT scores. Does that mean it will be weeks before they get my official scores & look at my app? Can I send/fax an unofficial score report?

Any suggestions?
Also Vic said an admissions rep said Aug 1 was when they want everything. What school was that, and is that so for most schools?
Am I screwed by taking it Aug 4? I really want to prepare & don't think I should take it earlier, I'm trying to find out how to get scores there.

i submitted all my materials on june 2nd and everything was received by aadsas, but i am taking the DAT's on august 8th. i'm a nontraditional student so i had little choice with my timeline.

I would fax the schools the unofficial reports once you take it, that way they may start reviewing your application until the official scores come in. If you could take the DAT a little sooner, it would be nice...but take it when you're prepared. If that means taking it in August, then so be it.

I took my DAT August 4th of last year, and I was told by the schools to fax them my unofficial copy right away until they could get the official copy. They told me they would start looking at my app with my unofficial copy, but that they would need to see an official copy to make a final decision regarding an interview invite.

I just talked to AADSAS and they said the first mailing would be "in about 3 weeks." I'm guessing either July 13th or 16th? So, in order to be "early" it would probably mean getting your application verified and sent out in the first batch.

I guess they can start reviewing your file with your unofficial scores on hand, but they can't send out an interview invite until they see an official score and make sure the unofficial grades match the official one. I think it takes 3-4 weeks for your DAT scores to be sent (although I'm not sure now since they are starting to keep them electronically..I would think they would be available instantly). If you wait for the official scores to become available, they won't even look at your app until they get them.

Yeah I just called and the lady told me the first mailings will be sent out "in a couple of weeks". She didn't know the exact date.
