I have an interview with Univeristy of Wisconsin-Madison next weekend.

Supposedly, it's 30 min interview.

Since I have never had an interview before, I am not quite sure if I should keep my answer brief and concise or elaborate a little more?

Also,

I think you are over analyzing things. Just answer the question the way you would answer to another person. Don't stress about details like that. 🙂

Open ended questions are hard such as Why Pharmacy?
those take time to think but if you practice your answers at home it shouldn't be too hard.

my advice is watch Miss America and other beauty pagents.

I agree that the open-ended questions, which really should be all of the interview questions, deserve ample time for elaboration. At the same time, you want to ramble on and figuratively "spin your wheels" where you repeat the same point in different ways. You want to elaborate while being concise and to the point.

30 minutes sound like a long time but all of my interviews went by fast once I got the conversation rolling.

My 20 minute interview just flew by. It felt like 5 minutes. The interviewer still had some questions that he wanted to ask me, and I didn't have enough time to say everything that I wanted to say either.

A 30-minute interview should be the perfect length, IMO.

Yeah, if an interview seems like it's taking forever to get over and it's only 20-30 minutes, then the applicant isn't doing a good job.😉

it all depends. my advice would be to rehearse a lot...have your friends or pharmacist ask you questions--i find that this is a useful method of preparing you...but dont sound rehearse! you don't want to spend so much time on one questions--i think the more questions they ask you the better. it should be natural--comfortable. try to make it like a conversation b/w acquaintances. i had 20-30 minutes interviews before...and some just flew by and i wish i had more time while other seemed like it was taking forever. just pray that you get a good interviewer 😀 good luck on your interview, dont be too nervous!
