How long should I study for naplex?
Three question diagnostic:

1. Take every antibacterial and classify by:
Bacteriostatic or Bacterialcidal
Pseudomonal coverage
Mrsa/vrsa coverage

2. For each system with sympathetic or parasympathetic treatment pathways (cardiac, renal, vascular, ophthalmic):
Identify the sympathetic vs parasympathetic mechanisms involved
The drugs on either side and their physiological action

3. For neurology and endocrinology:
Identify the various pathophysiology involved
The drugs and effects
What to do in resistance situations.

Check against Dipiro or Koda Kimble. If you can do 70%, then proceed to the practice tests. If not, go through the systems again until you can. I answered similarly earlier that my recommended strategy is the following.

The advice that I give all my students is that:

1. I would flatly memorize the Top 200
2. Know how to use the formulae
3. Know how to read basic lab values and the replacement/removal options for all of them (particularly, Renal, Hepatic, Hematology, and Electrolytes)
4. Then start on systems, and remember elimination differences for renal versus hepatic enzymes.

Have you already taken naplex?
Ah, yes, I've taken it twice:
1. To license - 147 (out of 150 at the time when 70 was passing)
2. Two years ago - 136 (did not study, did not even look at recent material as I was supposed to be a test subject for the recentered exam)

You should read the Boards...you might learn something from there. Aside from that, NAPLEX should not be difficult if you are in relative practice as an intern. Just go through the paces, and it should be fine.
