I graduated with a degree in general studies a few years ago. Right now, I am working on my prerequisites for dental school. There are two dental schools in Texas that I am especially interested in. In addition to the required courses, how many recommended courses should I complete? Thank you for the replies.

As many as you can without killing yourself every semester. And you should be interested in all 3 Texas schools as well as out of state ones if you really want to become a dentist. Texas schools are getting harder to get accepted to even if you're a resident.

I would take as many as you can. I know that schools say you don't have to take the recommended courses (hence they're not prerequisites), but in my experience it seems like they won't even consider you without having a couple in the bag. I would shoot for 4 - 6. Also, try to take as many courses per semester as you can manage because volume is impressive, as are grades.
