I have been working partially on MCAT for about 6 month , the fist time i took diagnostic test with NS and scored 486 ,after 3 months i took Kaplan and scored about the same .3 days ago i took AAMC FL 1 and got 482.
I have to admit i did not hit the books the way I should but anyway my score did not change even a little bit on the better side . What should i do ?

Something completely different. Whatever you were doing must have been flawed somehow.

That's about the best advice I can give with the information you provided.

If you want concrete advice, provide concrete specifics.

I have been using Khan Academy and EK books

Like anything in life...the more you put in, the more you get out.

Also, MCAT prep is like marathon training, it needs to be timed well. You need to have a structured scale up, a heavy study period, and then a scale down before the real test to prevent burnout.

My score is in the 510-515 range, but I only invested 150 hours into studying. Had I hit 300 hours, my score would likely have been much higher. (Haunts me everyday lol.)

From what I can tell, med school rewards consistent, dedicated time investment. So you might as well learn to apply more effective study strategies now.

How exactly does this help me help you? I've seen plenty of people self-study with those materials and do well. Are you blaming the materials for your poor scores? Materials don't matter. You matter. Your attitude, your approach, your willingness to adjust and change. So until you change yourself, your scores aren't going to change.

I saw in one of your previous posts that you are signed up for a May 2019 MCAT. Two months to turn a 482 into a decent MCAT score? 25+ point improvement? It's rare but it can be done.

I'm going to be blunt. You do not appear to be ready mentally. I'm not calling you dumb or stupid. You seem to lack the maturity and drive to succeed on this test. Token posts do not qualify as drive either.

If you feel ready to share exactly how you prepared, and if you are emotionally ready to have your entire approach critically examined and critiqued, please do so and make sure to @ me. I would love to help you out, but I cannot hand hold you, and ask you every single little question. Communication is a two way street my friend.

The thing I ended up doing differently from the first time studying for the MCAT was that the second time around, I would go over every single problem on the exam, yes even the ones I got right. I tried to fully understand the reasoning/explanation for every answer. It was painstakingly long but I think it was worth it. I figured if I got something wrong the first time I would try to make sure I wouldn't get tripped up by that type of problem again. Fool me once, shame on the MCAT makers, fool me twice, shame on me sort of mentality. Only take practice exams once you have covered all the material. I took about 7 practice tests and spent the time in between reviewing the q's.
